Fun fact about Harold Minor/Michael Jordan:
One of the sets of basketball cards I used to collect when I was a little boy had Harold Minor's rookie card (I think it was 1994 Upper Deck). On that rookie card, they had a picture of Minor in the background shooting a Jordan-esque fade away over the player in the foreground guarding him... Michael Jordan.
There was a time when that card was the second most valuable card in the main set simply because it had Michael Jordan on the card. That was how much we all loved MJ.
He was so good that when Iverson crossed him up and made him look uh, human for ONE play, that was the biggest news story in the NBA for a whole week.

Kobe, LeBron, and others, like 2019 Kawhi, offered some comparably admirable moments, but never that Jordan electrifying feeling. I wish Anthony continues on this path so today's teenagers can live a similarly exciting and enthusiastic era with the MJ "I wanna be like Mike" one in the following years.

It's cool, but the Curry Craze of the last 10 yrs has made people forget about the "heir apparent" craze that was gripping the NBA in late90s and early 00s. He just stands out today because the emphasis on the type of players the league was looking for changed; fewer athletes and bigs now in favor of more shooters.
Ant would have fit right in the early '00s next to Finley, J Richardson and Jerry Stackhohuse. Not a Kobe, but enough "like Mike" to be in that convo.

Underrated part of Mike's game is that he was, quite literally, NEVER bad. The most consistent athlete maybe ever?
In his 13 years with the Bulls MJ scored 10 or fewer points twice. That's 2 games out of 930. One of those games was coming back from the broken foot, the other was a blowout win against the Hawks in '97 where he played 3 quarters.
He only scored under 20 pts in a playoff game 6 times and 3 of those were blowout wins when he didn't play the whole game. If you look at his game logs on Basketball Ref it's stupid.

I get the similarity between Ant and MJ, but there is a big difference: exuberance. Ant is exuberant, he boils over, brings in a huge energy, talks trash as if he's on a street court. MJ did not do that. His energy was channeled into his game, destroying his opponents and winning the games. He was expressive and showed his confidence, but with Ant you think "Yeah, he's up for it, he ballin'!" with a fist pump. With MJ it was more like "He's in the zone, they are screwed" and then you just give a resigned shrug/smile combo. The energy is different. With Ant, as an opponent, it is "Here he comes" while getting ready. With MJ it was "Here I go..." while thinking about shower.
Ant is amazing, but the mentality is what is missing. MJ was never just about his skills. It was his mentality. It is what made him unique, his decision to bend a game, a series and a championship to his will. Ant does not have that yet. Maybe will not have it to the same extent (Lebron and Kobe didn't).
Let's just appreciate Ant for who he is. He is fun. Leave it at that.

2001-2006 Kobe was pretty close to MJ, but even by 2007 you could see some of that explosiveness go away from Kobe (he was a very good athlete, but not freakish by NBA standards).

The damage being done by the over advertising of these sports betting companies is absolutely insurmountable and infinite. It’s like if they started advertising crack on street poles in areas with large amounts of homeless people. It’s sickening to really look at the impact this is having right now and going to have on the next generation. I hope you see this and put some thought into what money drives you to do. In my opinion what made MJ the GOAT was that he made things different and that changed the game forever. Before him, the NBA was like watching a wrestling match. He brought speed and dexterity, The next GOAT was Curry, who brought range and efficiency. And now Joker, is teaching us that playing as a team is better than having the best player. Edwards, Kobe, Carter, Lebron, great players no doubt about it, but they would never bring something knew to the game, nor change the way it is play, that's why they would forever be followers or imitators not GOATS

I loved the point about watching a guy who loves the game as much as we do. Pair that with the charisma, trash-talk, and crazy athleticism, it's everything you want to watch as a fan.

To be fair Jordan was 22 when he came into the League and Ant is 22 right now. Comparisons should begin by age not when entering the league imo. I'm excited to so see where it goes from here

This is all spot on. I think the MJ comparisons come from people really wanting to see a modern version of Jordan. The kids wanna see what the hype is about and the elders wanna have a star they can rally for again. Everybody wants to know what it would look like if Jordan had to play against today's schemes and stars, and from the looks of this video it's been that way since he retired.
