Here is something a bit different, hope you lenjoy it non the less.
The video is not paid or sponsored by the Rattenreich team. I just think the ww1 themed Skaven are pretty neat and I want their upcoming game to succeed.
It was fun to make and I learned a few new tricks that can be used for other lore videos as well.

I find interesting that the Sun empire seems to be a mix between Japan and Italy in Ww2: they are simultaneously a reliable alie and a country that needs it's more successful partner to hold it's hand.

I feel like it's an exploration of what would hapen to japan with no Meiji restoration. Like a shogunate Japan in modern history. I find it very cool.
@@larsmuller97 The Shogun was the modernizing force in Japan. The Imperials were not. They just adopted the same stance as the Shogun after the British showed one of their loyal clans what Western technology can do to whatever crap the Japanese fielded.
Although yes, we may include the Ottoman Empire of WW1 into the combination as the lack of modernization and the incapability to mobilize correctly.

I'm a simple man, I watch a video of Janovich and I already like it.

Yes but the ww1 series is on hold because the scope is too big for now to handle it

This just seems like a WW2 told in a new way. Mice-Britian, Rats-Germany, Cockroach-USSR, Dragon-China, Lizards-Japan, Dessert-North Africa, Autocratic-Switerland, Arctic-Norway/Sweden/Finland. Pretty cool though

I like the combination of WW1 & WW2 in this lore, is pretty unique and havent seen it yet
make me thing of the Manga Youjo Senky whit the Empire pretty much being stuck in trench warfare until they manage to break the Francois Republic Line and capture the country for ultimate the commonwealth joining the war be helping there army escape to Albion and north Africa where its turn into more of a ww2 a shame the manga more focus on the story of Tanya but the lore between the war is interesting

Might be hard with how vague the lore is. In the sense of when did 'x' thing happen? Foxhole lore is a lot like Dark Souls with tons of small snippets to a greater story... That can be very hard to piece together. There's more theorizing than there is concrete lore.
Stuff like last time I looked at the Foxhole lore chat people were arguing about what the 'Wardens' even were.

Ehh, this would make a very muddled analogy; Mixing the history of pre-empire germanic states with parts of the history of the Jewish diaspora in Central Europe at the time really puts both in a fictional context that disservices both.

I remember seeing this game awhile ago and actually being into the idea of the World Wars but the factions were different animals with different biologies. Unfortunately when I saw the art i was kinda disappointed, basically all of the animals are super humanoid and are mostly only different in name. I feel like this is a huge missed opportunity to do some really crazy and fun stuff with weapons and vehicles and terrain that are only available and usable to certain species because of Biology. Like cockroaches having weapons that used all 4 hands, or Mice being able to burry downwards and have huge underground bunkers or something. as it is now it looks like a ww1/2 reskin.
Also, the annoying usage of the term “Republic” for monarchist nations, which makes absolutely zero sense.

@@TactWendigo It’s not about the centralization, rather the fact that the title “Republic” is by definition incompatible with the nation being a monarchy (ruled by a hereditary, non-electable head of state). A republic is defined by a nation with an electable head of state and/or legislature, at least in name.
@@theturnc0at yes. Let me rephrase it since I wasn't specific enough. Straight up dictatorships will calm themselves a republic. The name attached to a nation will sometimes have little to do with reality.
@@TactWendigo True, but my argument is that if the ruler is a king, duke, emperor, etc, then there is zero chance you are calling yourself a republic, since the term implies the lack of a monarch ruling the state. A dictator that does not style himself as a monarch (by taking titles such as president or supreme leader, for example) is able to call his nation a republic despite there being no democratic system. Hence the “if only in name” at the end of my previous reply

So many references to the interwar period it’s lore value diminishes but nonetheless, I’m a sucker for colorful maps with varying empires and cultures at war with one another.
This storyline is absolute genius, clearly written by very educated individuals👌🏻🍻
Not gonna lie, Rattenreich has a stylish and charming ring to it, like Götterdämmerung (which "muss fliegen, maschine streigt in den Himmel...."). If you don't mind I will use it for an aircraft design (both for the rule of cool and as a misleading nickname, as if it wouldn't be obvious it will be a military aircraft with a *slight* resembelence in design)

I liked this video, i had heard of the ratten reich game before, but dismissed it. Now with some good lore to back it up, i think it'll be worth keeping an eye on and getting when its released!

Idk if I'm missing something here, but I feel like the sun empire isn't necessarily the japanese without a meiji period, but rather japan just *before* it. Same goes for red dragon (Qing Dynasty rather than R.O.C). This lore feels more like its in the 1890s to 1910s rsther than 1910s to 40s...
i was going to say that this feels like WW1, the peace at the end was like the 1920s, and the war that will take place in the game will be WW2. I wonder if there is another faction to fill in for the americans, because WW2 ended with the nuke, so someone has to build it, right?

The thing about the cockroaches... exoskeletons are great for resisting external damage. But once they're pierced, it makes it harder to endure internal damage as the exoskeleton is what holds it all together. Endoskeletons tend to endure better.
If I were a History channel or SyFy exec I would give you a job making full documentaries like this.
I would suggest you check out Kaiser Cat Cinema for their Kaiserreich documentaries if you haven't already (if this is the kind of stuff you usually like then you might already be familiar with them, but never hurts to recommend on the off chance you introduce someone to something cool). Also, obviously, the Templin Institute for more documentaries and breakdowns (Stellaris Invicta is a big series of theirs), and also Wizards and Warlords for breaking down fantasy battles and warfare and societies

The FMR is Western Europe
The CAR is Russia
The dragon kingdom is China
The Empire of the Sun is Japan
The rat states are the German states with the Rattenreich as Prussia and the German Empire.
The fortifications of the Franx Empire as the French fortified border and the colonies as Belgium.
The islands in the purple sea as the Philippines.
The Rattenreich making the FMR look like the aggressors as Bismarck provoking France for the same reasons.
I could go on! Literally history from 1864-1945 put in a fictional scenario. Well done!
This game look so good I remember watching it on Arch’s channel and I loved it. There is so much story and camping opportunities
