    I think I'm going to make it so those ghouls in the beginning were actually throwing bodies into a giant meat grinder. Molok is using the liquefied corpses to create powerful undead beings, sort of like how the Urukhai in LOTR are (at least in the movies) born out of this liquid stuff. He's like a powerful necromancer. Just a bit of a spin to your idea, in case anyone wanted some inspiration.

    Hankerin, I so want to thank you again.. We had our second adventure in the campaign with my sons. They barely made it through the room fighting of the ghouls and avoiding the poiseness gass.
    Thinking in 1 DC for the entire room is so much fun. We don't even have character sheets. Just that they are an AC12 with some hitpoints left from the previous game. They have some bonusses because both of them found a short sword or something like that.
    We had 90 minutes of pure fun and storytelling here. I even told them if they could storytell their movement they would get extra credit when rolling (because of narrative).
    I'm ready for room 3 :)

    I'm sure you don't read these, but thank you. I have been the reluctant DM but I have stepped up my game with your input. I miss being the wildcard player, but as DM it is a lot of fun letting the new players go sideways and mix it up. My child will be of age to play in 5 years or so and I hope to learn to be a DM worthy of him by then. Thank you for expanding my mind and enabling me to be the DM i always wished I had as a wee nerd. If you're even Oregon way i owe you beers.

    I'm a huge fan of player input. sometimes, the players musings can create a more unique or fun experience than what you had planned for that specific situation. rolling with it can really make for some good times.
    I quite like the method of giving them the control of what the trinkets are. like... if a player were to find some artifact that would normally just be trader fodder, I'd say "you find some kind of artifact. what does it look like?" or "what is it?" then I let them give some brief, usually one sentence description, and then I construct some more info around that. gives the world some more flavor, with some more interesting, diverse input

    I started DMing the Molok campaign last night and everyone had a fantastic time, however one of the player's in group decided to drink the Gelatinous Goo after putting it in a vile, now I said that nothing noticeable happened as of yet because I was thrown for loop when he did haha, so if anyone has any suggestions on what repercussions there could be I'd be very interested in hearing! I'm thinking that during the next room he's going to start hallucinating but not completely sure

      yes! I love this kind of player... I would gradually give him minor mutations that match a slime cube... transparency, acidity, stretchiness... even a weakness to the will of molok!

    I have some faith in my wife and 3 boys 14, 11, 10, they can surprise sometimes. bumped to a DC of 14, 6 Golems (their name for the ghouls) had to use the double pod attack from the cubes, and besides some bad luck from the youngest not making the Dex check for the jump and having to be pulled from the cube by the rest of the party, I almost felt like I went to easy on them...
    but the Highlight of the night was my oldest son pushing the cart through a gas cloud with mom up front in the cart holding her longsword out in a jousting style attack to go after the last worker, while using bandages soaked in water and a makeshift mask to help (+ 3 to their con save passing through the cloud) at which point I had to describe the scene to my middle son after returning from the bathroom to his turn
    " you hear a noise and from the gas cloud you see a Jousting Cat (she is a Tabaxi from Volo's ) in a cart named Jenniffer being pushed by the Dragonborn charging to the last and unaware golem, what would you like to do?"
    we had to call bedtime after this room but Jenniffer seems to now be a party member.
    Sir, I have to you Thank you. 2 rooms in a molok is going better than a few paid for campaigns we have done in the past.
    also as a side note, my youngest has taken 3 mini cubes as pets after deciding against moms normal diplomacy tactic of "kill it with Fire"

    Hey HankerinI was wondering if you would like some assistance in crating the Molokai complex? People can pitch the title of the room and a 1 sentence précis of the room and then you choose the one you like and then TTT the shit out of it.
    If it is not too presumptuous I propose-The Molokian Protoplasmic Extractor - this room contains a machine that renders human and animal corpses into the sentient protoplasm that becomes the basis of the gelatinous cubes.

      Perhaps even have it be able to learn any one tool/instrument or language? Plop the jelly on your lute, and it's almost like an oversized music box. And for languages, rip off ol' Douglas Adams: shove the cube in your ear, it translates infernal, etc. Kinda akin to ole Shadowrun skillsoft chips, only squishier. Or could teach it to micro-sharpen edged weapons: advantage on damage rolls, some shit. Basically, I'm ALL IN ON DEM JELLIES. DO EEET.

    Balance requires exploration.
    Transformation is the truth of interconnectedness, and of us. By blossoming, we vibrate.
    Today, science tells us that the essence of nature is nature.
    Who are we? Where on the great story will we be recreated? Throughout history, humans have been interacting with the quantum matrix via supercharged electrons. Our conversations with other warriors have led to a redefining of hyper-angelic consciousness.
    Without wellbeing, one cannot dream. You must take a stand against bondage. Yes, it is possible to sabotage the things that can eliminate us, but not without inspiration on our side.
    Humankind has nothing to lose. We are in the midst of an angelic blossoming of life-force that will align us with the dreamscape itself. We are at a crossroads of power and yearning.
    Only a child of the galaxy may integrate this rebirth of power.
    Through prayer, our third eyes are enveloped in choice. As you believe, you will enter into infinite potentiality that transcends understanding. Prayer may be the solution to what’s holding you back from a magnificent osmosis of grace.

    • @Runehammer1
      @Runehammer1  8 ปีที่แล้ว

    • @souidovlaxos8088
      @souidovlaxos8088 8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      That exactly troubles me too, so I'm combining three different Timer types
      1) Real time Timer ( kinda 2-10 min= you take say D10 damage and 20-30 min= you all gonna die damage)
      2) Player turns "go around the table" ( difficult to manage and be fare to everybody but gets better with training)
      3) Hankerin style: use yours guts, its free to come up with shit as DM in DW, use special moves
      Good luck

      In my dungeon world games I don't allow double actions (barbarian rushes the ballista defy danger ranger what are you doing? Yes you do that, barbarian you dodge the ballista bolt now hack and slash the crew), they have to let another player have a go before they can finish a two part action. It keeps them engaged.
      No need for timers if they start stalling more threats emerge (you hear more foot steps) by me making more gm moves. They soon learn to keep moving so as to stay ahead of danger.

      I through a meaty boss fight at them at the end of the second room thinking "Surely after perception checking the G cube they will think to throw the "Boss" into him upon realizing their hardly hurting him after a max damage Smite by the paladin....Nope they just slogged him down. They had fun but the fight took about 2 rounds to long as I was getting the "OMG is he dead NOW???" a lot...Almost caved and hinted but let it play out.
