I have family who migrated to Detroit from Birmingham Alabama, it is a well known fact that a strong migration took place from Birmingham Alabama to Detroit back in the day, so glad my grandma migrated to Milwaukee WI, cause most of my cousins in the D got strung out on heroin or became criminals, bank robbers, drug dealers etc, it was a hustle cut throat city even way back then and as I look back we were in a much more safer city

Contrarily Detroit has some up and coming areas and in reality there's beautiful suburban housing around the Detroit golf club and other areas along Woodward that are slept on. Also midtown to downtown which is also along Woodward is very developed and diverse as well. People can still raise their families and work while remaining out of the streets...one just has to choose to do so

I grew up in Detroit. 6 mile. Went to William Davison Elementary. Cleveland Middle & Northern High school. Two of them schools no longer exist. Blacks & People from India made up my childhood. I witnessed a game of Manhunt (Large Scale Hide and Seek) turn into a senseless murder.. Shout out to 6mile, Davison, Joseph Campau, Mcnichols 💪🏿✊🏿

Being from DC back in day I used to talk shit to my homie from the Detroit about which city was more dangerous.... I remember in the early 2ks the two cities would flip flop with murder cap bullshit .... what changed in DC was that gentrification really made DC a lot less dangerous in where Detroit is still heavily populated with us black folks and DC is like 40% now.... I remember telling him that Detriot will always remain ultra dangerous because the white folks don't really want Detroit and its nothing there that would make move in and the city officials would start cleaning it up.... It's crazy the D is still in the top 5 with murder rate almost 15 years later when we had this convo ..... My niggaz up there all moved to different cities and one still lives in the D ....

Contrarily Detroit has some up and coming areas and in reality there's beautiful suburban housing around the Detroit golf club and other areas along Woodward that are slept on.
Also midtown to downtown which is also along Woodward is very developed and diverse as well.
People can still raise their families and work while remaining out of the streets...one just has to choose to do so
