I go for long walks and have lunch at cafes alone all the time, I truly enjoy my time alone, it has really improved my mental health. Filmmaking is a journey hang in there you are not alone there are many of us who feel just like you.
This actually connected a lot with me. I don't think you can plan success, which is why you should create work that is meaningful specifically to you. The other day, I finally uploaded a dance performance I wanted to shoot for the longest time. Doubt it will ever find wide spread success but it felt much more rewarding than any other project which woule be considered attention grabbing. If you love what you're doing, you'll be sticking to it in the long run. And if you'll be sticking to something for many years, you'll automatically be on the right track.
Great content, I love being vulnerable on TH-cam it really builds trust! I feel the same way about the instability of this filmmaking path we chose...been at it for almost a decade. It requires great emotional strength (which I admit is not my strong suit but hey we keep learning and acquire wisdom / experience from mistakes)
I totally relate with this video. And yes, I don`t fall into this new gear desperate consuming. I`m still using my DSLRs, Canon 6D Mark I, and fortunately upscaling to 4K or 8K on the program, if needed. I am much more focused in mastering my cameras and on learning to create great content and great films with what I already have, instead of worrying about how many Ks or outo focus my cameras have.
This feels so genuine Aya, I feel we creators and filmmakers tend to focus so much on the hustle and the race to bigger and better gear and projects all the time, put so much pressure on ourselves and ignore our personal feelings, mental health and end up making what we originally started because we loved filmmaking, feel more like a chore and a cause of stress. Im sort of at that stage right now, but hearing your thoughts helped me out :) Gotta remember why we started and enjoy the process
Thank you for sharing Claudio! Miss ya. I’m glad to hear that this resonated with you. And I do hope one day we’ll find that inner peace and balance that are currently escaping us 🤍
Thank you for your input. It is interesting to know younger people have a thing about having a meal all alone. I have experienced that situation many years, on and off, and never thought I could've been judged by something that has been normal for me.
“Focus on the work your heart desires…” strong words Aya. I think everyone is thinking what you’ve talked about in this video. I know great things are waiting for you! More of this.
I love this video. Resonates with me. I make videos just like this from time to time, but mostly I make stories that I am compelled to make. Those are the stories we should be sharing. Like this video. And YES to doing work that your heart desires. That's what art is for. Enjoyed this. Thank you
Love your *A73* image and reflections AYA ! Yearning ( dreaming ) of better gear and the metaphor of the man wanting more "lesson" is great. "Perfectionism" has blocked and paralysed me as I see so much great content everywhere ! Wanting more and more, better and better .... well, filming kids has shown me that the best camera is a small cam you have with you and that can be "thrown around" and capture the moment ... rather than a big cam. Capturing a real "emotion" ( joy, laugh, anger, tears... ) is much harder than making a perfect composition. Doing what your heart wants ( passion projects ) are of course the most gratifying ones. Nevertheless, monetizing a film for someone else ( customer ) is a necessary reward for your work, material and know-how. Without financial stability filming is psychologically very hard of course. Many famous photographers had rich parents ( Helmut Newton ) and some other lived a poor artist life ( Henri-Cartier Bresson ) for ex. Keep going ... ! Mike
Valuable lessons, especially for young people that are really struggeling with the performance driven society we are currently live in. I appreciate your honensty and courage, especially on TH-cam. One of the most honest video's I've encountered on TH-cam lately.
We love you AYA! I feel you on this, recently I've been on the same wave length, burning myself out trying to chase the next hype reel and trying to make every reel better than the last one : ( I've found if you have the time, it's nice to just turn off and do something where you aren't practicing anything. Just being still or being outside :) Always here for you if you wanna just chat rubbish about anything! Anyway, sending love your way and you are AMAZING so this is just a phase. You will come out stronger :) 🖤
Ah Daryl, thanks so much for the kind words, means more than you know. I feel like there are quite a few people going through those challenges and periods of inner transformation right now. Sorry to hear you’ve also been feeling burnt out. I truly hope that after such a long period something brighter is coming up. Lots of love 🤍
Thank you for opening your heart to us, Aya. I'm sure that you will always shine. Stay strong and don't forget that your voice and work inspires us. Greetings from Mexico.
Really appreciate you opening to this Aya. There's still people that care and I've been following your work for a minute and can tell you are a different type of artist and filmmaker. Found this type of content really valuable so thank you.
Keep sharing like this! Videos like this sets people apart on this platform! Your personality shines through and even though you don’t know the most of us, we feel like we get to know a part of you. Thank you for sharing 🙏
What a genuine video Aya! Everybody has these ups and downs in their career, especially when being an artist but only few dare to speak about it in public. You're one of a kind 🫵
Love it Aya. Documenting life and the journey is what I am focused on. Giving back to the community that has given me so much. Just added to your subs. Great video and I am all about the OG TH-cam and miss it.
Man, no matter what I try, my TH-cam channel doesn't seem to do anything. So I just decided to make videos for me. Still not doing anything, but I don't feel so bad about it anymore 😅
Great video Aya - hope you're okay. It can be a real struggle and grind in this business - esp. when you have to be so self-motivated - balancing TH-cam and professional work is also very tough and the constant desire to compare yourself to others and creeping self-doubt can be a real struggle - it's important we share this side of things and be open with each other that this happens. Thanks for sharing.
Попаднах на това видео - започнаха първите секунди. И поради някаква причина си казвам - това момиче е от България. Нека да проверим какво пише на "About". И воала - ти да видиш :)
You are merging with the background. That shelf at the top left is not helping. Plus that chair is distracting. Move camera to the left and get even a tighter closeup against the brick wall with shallow depth of field and change clothes to white/green/red

Keep your head up. You gonna win. Filmmakers prime is in the 40's - 50's so we gotta keep going
