I have a 7LT 10 inch and and it’s supposed to be 500 RMS, but it don’t seem like it can handle it from my JL Audio Amplifier, signal always clips and I set the amp right since it has the clipping LED. Would a 12 L7T be better since it takes 600 RMS? Don’t think my amp is putting out the right power, seems like it’s over powering the sub at times and I have to turn the gain way below normal when I turn the volume up. Sends a bunch of clipping bass tones after 37hz till I turn it down, sometimes it sounds like trash and it’s not even clipping. Would the 12 L7 T perform better or do I need a different shallow Mount sub? Like the JL Audio version? I like square shapes and that’s the main reason I went to the kicker. I’m a square! 😅

You should just upgrade your amp. I have 1 -12" comp R with a kenwood 500.1 and it hits hard for 1 sub. I try to go just above RMS for the subs when picking my amp
Thats normal bro. You want to break them in for a minimum of 2 weeks. I always do 30 days though to make sure they are fully broken in properly. (They will still slap more than enough). Then afterwards I'll adjust the gain and bass to increase it. That small you are noticing is the new rubber so when that happens turn it down and lower the bass. It's a brand new speaker and the rubber is new. There is a resin like substance on it so If you overdo it you'll smell that electric burning smell. Again the smell is normal for brand new subwoofers. Just break them in for 30 days and then you';re good bro. *On a different sidenote* After a few months you can look into rewiring the speakers (simple) so that you can get the most out of them at the lowest ohm.
If you already pushing 500 rms, the only way to go louder in your case is a sub with more surface area and x-mas. Or also one with more rms (if your amp can supply the power). The L7R do have more surface area than the CompR, but I would rather go with the L7S if I was you. You will notice a big difference, it has more x-mas than the L7R but does require more power.
I always associated Solobarics with small sealed enclosures, based on specs and marketing, but if they're selling plug-and-play / all-in-one preloaded enclosures that are ported then I guess they're more versatile than we've been lead to believe.
