Thanks again Neil... I lived on Admiral Rd. in the Student Annex, and 414 Jarvis St. then 240 Wellesley in St Jamestown... All the while I worked at the Delta Chelsea Inn at 33 Gerrard St. (between Yonge & Bay Sts,). and later opened the Bradgate Arms at Avenue & St.Claire... Living & working downtown allowed me to walk everywhere. When you don't have a car you can really connect with the City... You notice all the buildings & really learn to appreciate the Architecture & History... Thanks again for all the viddies... They're Great!!!
The one of Avenue Rd. and Brookdale takes me back. The Glendale Theatre was on the South East corner across from the Firestone Building. Saw many a movie in that theatre.
I drive under that bridge at Runneymede and Maria almost daily. The small building there explains the stairs to nowhere on the north side. That's why I love these videos.
Jumbo 🍔!! Lol. It was the roundhouse for the railways back in the day and a trucking company in the 70s and 80s. Walmart now. I grew up on Runnymede just south of St. John's so it's my old stomping grounds. 😉
@@travisazzopardi8024Thanks for the info. I grew up in Bushey ave. near Weston and Lambton. The street with the Dairy Queen at the end. That's long gone now too
@@conradmcdougall3629 I miss that DQ. Went there lots of times with my friends from Humber Memorial HS in the 80s. Did you know a guy named Dave who had really long hair and lived on Jasper? He fell off the Scarborough bluffs one night when they were out there partying and got severe brain damage. He was like a little boy after that. And our buddy Scott lived across the street from Dave on Jasper. Spent a few nights partying with those guys in Jasper Park.
@@travisazzopardi8024If Dave had a severe limp, I knew him. He hung out by Johnny's Pizza. I probably delivered the Toronto Sun to Scott's house because I did most houses on Jasper. We went to the same high school. When I went, it was Archbishop Romero. I'm 44 so just a bit younger. I probably returned the empties you guys left at Jasper. Small world.
@@conradmcdougall3629 yeah, that's Dave. That was when I was 16. I'm 60 now. Lost contact with him cause of his injuries. We hung out at Johnny's pizza and Mr. Sub across the street. Yup, small world. I live across the street from Roselawn PS now.
6:37 I love how the mark left behind by the Bank of Montreal lettering is still visible in the present day photo long after the storefront has been changed.

I like the old pictures, with buildings that still exist, in the new pictures. I even saw one at Parliament and Shuter, that I lived in, 5 years ago. Thanks, Neil :)
Thanks for doing a little bit of west end. Bloor and Royal York where I grew you but most of all, thanks for the little tears in my eyes every time I watch one of your videos! 🙏
Sorry me stickler for detail again. Avenue Road at St. Clair at 3:00 is looking south. My great aunt lived in those apartments on the right (SW) corner. Barclay Hotel at 4:17 got to be at least early sixties 58 black Biscayne and 63 white Impala in foreground. Old Church looks downright majestic. Please give me a three piece tweed suit and a time machine.
Your channel is growing ! Keep on going ! Great photos, and I prefer the "before" sites better than the "after" sites. So many beautiful buildings replaced with boring box or ugly ones, or even nothing at all, just empty lots. That 8 Court Street building makes me think of Inspector Clouseau's office from Pink Panther cartoons.
0:29 The Court Street Parkette, a beautiful little spot obscured here by the foreground bushes, is unfortunately now taken over by groups of people openly smoking, buying and selling d rugs - morning, noon and night. I take it that's why you couldn't take an actual picture of it.
@@NeilB.Arnold Well then, those bushes just happened to keep you out of trouble. I noticed shortly afterwards that you took a shot from well down the street at a different angle and there some of them are, slouching around in their own garbage.

@@Sk3p_T1kal that is the sign of trying to keep the past alive, but it is still a BMO, Bank of Montreal.

I usually just search Toronto historic photos on Google.
Toronto during WW2 suggestion !
