Screws and superglue ? Really ? What's wrong with wood glue and clamps ? Not really a restoration .. more like vandalism really 😞

I definitely agree with the first comment I would have used glue inside the cracks before screwing them down as far as the whole restoration if I was to give this from a one to 100 perspective I would give this one probably a 60 the only thing I would never done is painted or at least painted the bolt is what it looks like you did I would have polished the bolt but if you're intending to use it as a wall hanger that's all good and all I recommend if you ever painting guns like this that you just going to hang on the wall use stuff like barbecue grill paint cuz at least it's somewhat resembles gun blowing overall though you did an okay job

Wtf. This is not m48 Mauser, i have genuine one and i know that Markings are not from anny manufacturer of Mauser. This is some kind of Pakistan made rifle. Bad restration .Why paint, cold blueing is cheap

Плохая оабота а особенно покраска оружия из балончика как будто он красит детское оружие и надо применять клей для дерева а не саморезы это ге рестоврация .

Restoration? This is a very instructional video on how NOT to restore a gun! Please watch a few episodes of Backyard Ballistics to see just how wrong this is.

So I am not the biggest fan of this restoration for many reasons. 1. I am not certain that that is a real Mauser; The stock on this weapon does not resemble that of any Mauser I have ever seen before, I have also never seen a Mauser with a heat shield but that could just be lack of experience with the weapon. 2. The manner in which the stock was restored destroyed the branding mark of the stock if that is what that was, and, though a lot more secure than just gluing it back together, I don't think that using screws to secure the stock together was the greatest idea, there are so many ways that it could've gone wrong, and caused more damage to the stock. 3. Though I am sure that the person in this video does not have any intentions of using this weapon based on the condition it appeared to be in in the beginning of the video, It isn't that difficult nor that much more expensive to redo the bluing on the weapon instead of spray painting it. The spray painted finish is not my favorite, and if that is a real Mauser, spray painting it ruined any chance of it retaining any value even as a wall hanger. If an individual is going to restore a weapon of historical value, their first priority should be maintaining its historical value, i.e. trying to retain as much of its originality as possible. The secondary priority should be trying to retain or restore its ability to operate safely. Failing to restore a historical weapon to a state where it can fire is expected, these weapons are old and deteriorate from what can be considered safe to shoot. But purposely doing something that ruins the historical value of the weapon is an insult to hopefully anyone who is associated to the relevance of that weapon. I try to be as understanding and supportive as possible for anyone who puts the effort into making a video or anything in the realm of restoring things. However this video has me concerned on its legitimacy and mortified at the ruination of what has been labeled as a famous weapon of history.

This is not Mauser,i have original one and i know. Markings are not from any Mauser licensed manufacturer.(CZ,Yugo,Turkey...)

You need to stop resorting rifles and hand guns as you never use black spray paint you use yhe proper gun / rifle buling solution.

Халтура, т.е. примитив....металлические части следовало хорошенько очистить от ржавчин и подвергнуть холодному воронению. А ложе необходимо било пропитать пчелиним воском

Dude, thanks for the effort, but why 1- screws?! 2- superglue?! 3- the destruction of the company's mark on the butt?! and most importantly, why did you paint the metal parts of the carbine with some crap?! is the liquid for blackening weapons so expensive??? man, so much effort- and as a result, a plastic children's toy instead of a classic world weapon- a Mauser carbine?! There are three names in the gun world that need to be treated with respect: Colt, Mauser and Kalashnikov! You spray-painted one name today... With all due respect...

I have seen legitimate repairs done on wood stocks with a drill. However, they had used wooden dowel plugs, instead of screws. And, has anyone ever considered that this channel is located in a third world country where cold bluing might not be available? I have to agree that the spray paint is an abomination. And personally, I would have given the time and effort to restore it better than this. Spray paint is just covering up amateur results. Just my opinion.
