I believe The Castle of Otranto (1764) is generally considered to be the first gothic novel. The second printing (1765) is subtitled, A Gothic Story and if I remember correctly, this was the first time the word gothic was used literarily. I used to own a second edition.

I'm so lucky to have bought Initiation into Hermetics back in the early 2000s, as prices today have gone bonkers for the material.

As I understand it, the Franz Bardon's books contain errors and redactions that Czech Hermetics is looking to fix. According to the website they are in the process of producing a new translation.

Don't hold your breath. Unless something has changed, Lumir Bardon revoked the rights a number of years ago so there won't be any forthcoming edition from Czech Hermetics sadly

I have IIH and I think the book is absolutely fantastic. I have restarted it so many times and enjoy both reading it and doing all the exercises. I hope you will come with a review later. It has helped me in my practice because you practice concentration and the visualization technique and the practices really makes a difference.

im laughing at everyone annoying you about Franz Bardon, im certianly on that list. Its some stuff you've heard before, and some stuff you probably haven't heard before so I hope you enjoy his unique take on some of those things. You may not agree with everything he says, but its always nice to see a fresh perspective on an old friendly topic. Wishing you the best with his stuff.
The sun of knowledge looks gorgeous. My favorite spiritual texts tend to be from pious Christian mystics, so i bet I would enjoy a similar vein in Arabic culture. Also I had no idea Dion Fortune had a similar interested in Christianity, i gotta pick that guy up. I havent gotten into much of Dion's stuff but the name keeps coming up, it must be time lol.
There are some traditions who say that Jesus has a rainbow body as well

That was one of my first book on the topic of hermetic, witchcraft, the occult, all that good stuff.

Much love from the Bronx, New York

I got my copy of of Green Mysteries (albeit the paperback) in September of last year and was very pleased with the production and content. I tried like hell to get a hardcover going back years. Yours is the first I’ve ever seen. I was originally upset that I had missed the preorder, but given the saga that followed I think it was a blessing in disguise.
I’m also curious to see what you think of Bardon’s work. Glad I bought that one years ago, I had no idea it was out of print!

A path to the Grail… def go on my wish list.. there is just something about the synoptic gospels that continue to engage me and that is not explained by religion, plutonic or Alexandria influences or modern scholars (the Bart Ehrman’s of this world).. thanks Denis, I wouldn’t know about these without your recommendations 👍

Call me annoying, but I tend to be very lazy with the works of people who claim to have a "complete system" of magic, incredible powers, who was chosen by elevated spirits, reincarnation of a powerful mage from the past, who knows enough to write about how to dominate the elements... and whose life ends pretty bad. I know that many people doesn't seem to care about it (in the Western Magic landscape, at least) but I believe the effects of someone's beliefs and practices in their own life speaks a lot about the validity of their teachings. But, who am I to know, right?

A lot of the most famous sages throughout history had very tough lives and went through immense suffering. Many of them are honest about their shortcomings and I respect it. I’m the opposite - it’s the ones that look as if, and act like they’re perfect that I’m skeptical about.

... damn, really wish i wasn't saving for a holiday right now XD so many good books, really want copies of Art and Alchemy, Sun of Knowledge and that copy of The Kelmscott Chaucer as absolutely gorgeous, if impractical :P and I absolutely NEED Trutmezzer (even tho i already waited 6 damn months for two books from Three Hands Press) and The Monk (lots of very interesting overlap with my practice there, and it's the right time period too, gotta read it).
thanks for sharing the books! question - have you heard of Ninth Circle Press? they released a book not long ago, "Sefer ha Sitra Achra", sold out now unfortunately :( if you can grab a copy i recommend it, i've got one and it's miles ahead of the usual edgy 'demonic' crap, i'm sure you know who and what i'm on about. maybe keep an eye on them in case they announce books :)
