I think there is a misunderstanding for most people here. I think TMM is not saying Lee is a braindead character... infact I think it is more the oposite way.. I think he is more explaining that alot of people are playing him in a dumb way... and is warning that when someone want to get good with lee he should not start to spam stuff around braindeadly like alot of people do but should learn to play him in a more intelligent way. Because otherwise they will run into a problem sooner or later. At least that is how I understood the video.
Nah, he definitely was angry and venting about how he felt about Lee not the players. He banned me from his stream just because I said to AyoRichie that people shouldn't duck Lee's ws2,4 and risk half of their health bar by getting launched by ws2,3 instead. He read my statement out loud on stream and asked his mods to ban me. And I wasn't even being snarky or something like that nor annoying in any way. He's biased against Lee in this game and just doesn't want to admit it, and that video he posted was basically a jab at all Lee players and at the end of video he realized he might get a lot of backlash after voicing his ridiculous opinion, so him pointing out specific play style of certain Lee players as a conclusion was definitely just damage control after he vent out all that steam that's been seething inside him.

@@voltreo you can actually option select that, ws2,4 considerably later compared to ws2,3. most people dont seem to know that tho, and online might be tricky to do tho. But is definitely a consistant practical thing to master that so is not an actual mix up between ws2,3 and ws2,4.

Super informative video. people really look over the fact that 8 changes a lot. in this case, tmm's talking about how some people play lee "wrong" but it's just that it's difficult to play defensively which is what lee is known for, so ppl will play more aggro. lees strength is/was more about good punishment counterhitting and keepout. his chipping is to get ppl to press or duck.

I don't play Lee that way and got Tekken God a couple months ago. I played T7 Lee w/ easier just frames and df 4,4 pretty much.
@@geese1717 the just frame "s" (he literally only had 2 before) are not easier, the only thing that got easier is mist step buffering. It was always this window to get acid rain.

acid rain is not easier in a vacuum however the buffer window is way more lenient on block now. so you don't have to delay your acid rain timing depend on the negative frames like in t7. @@nayd5043

Dude, I was a fan of him during Tekken 7 and weathered his constant complaining and Mishima bias because of how informative he is, however, he's really turned up to eleven for Tekken 8. His channel these days is just constantly huffing his own farts, downplaying his own characters, bashing the players of said characters, and fratboy jokes. I've thought about whether or not I want to unsubscribe from him or not. Maybe once Kazuya gets buffed he'll tone it down. Probably not. Anyways, great video.

bryan can't sit back unless you want to get fucked up. it didn't work for knee to play bryan more defensively and it won't for your average player either. at least lee can hit you with a magic 4 if you mash in his face

Why is it every time there’s criticism about any character people have to downplay strengths and exaggerate weaknesses. I think Tmm is mostly correct but I think it’s a problem with every character people will use scrubby moves if they work and will rinse and repeat. For example d2 for Jin could be explained away as a launch punishable low but it’s one of the strongest and most consistent moves in the game hits grounded high crushes and counter hit launches.
I had no idea B4 lost the tracking if you went into HMS, so thanks TMM for complaining, it brought us Lee players to these video responses and now we find out this information. SO TMM effectively made it so Lee players use it even less now lol. I just assumed B4 was left unchanged since Tekken 7, but I guess it was too strong. I partially believe this is the case due to the buffed sidesteps. In Tekken 7, sidestep was gutted so it made it seem like it had more tracking. Either way great video on setting the record straight.

I lot of yall just have a negative bias towards TMM. He's commends Lee & Bryan players all the time for how technical & risky they are. This video is just him explaining how to not mindlessly flow chart with Lee when you're 1st picking him up. His whole point is: Focus on the core of the character, because the crazy T8 stuff will come easy. He never said only play counter-hit, he never said his rush down had no counterplay, AND HE'S LITERALLY TALKING TO A BEGINNER. Honestly I think, if it wasn't TMM saying it, no one would have an issue.

i cannot agree more for everything OG GM said in this vid
* Running 3,4: unless you are playing street fighter and your character cant sidestep its SUPER linear (u end up in Lee's back and close to him super easy), doesnt launch, only +3 on block and +6 if you transition to HMS which make Lee options more limited. Good move but FAR from braindead.
* Magic 4: the only way u can confirm that counterhit is by doing 4,4 and check if it was CH then :4 justframe, first two (4,4) are both -13 on block; 4,3 variation doesnt jail anymore AND also the second hit which is duckable is -14 on block... not braindead.
* b3,3: one of the most overrated moves, mad risky (launch punishable) for only 20 miserable damage and only +4 on hit, super inconsistant since a lot of times second 3 misses after the first one hits, super steppable... not braindead.
*d3: negative on hit, linear, LAUNCH PUNISHABLE... good move, far from braindead.
*Slide: one of the worst risk/reward ratio imo, requires good execution, super linear compared to law and shaheen slides, LAUNCH punishable (the range from when it is -15 is HUGE so most of the time when they block youll be -15), all that risk for only 20 damage or 23 miserable damage if you get the really difficult JF and only a crappy +3. To be honest this move is kinda crappy now... obviously not braindead.
* HMS+3: decent powercrush, but unlike Victors dumb b1+2, lee's powercrush requires him to be on an stance in order to access it, making your opponent kinda aware of that option, making it way more predictable for baiting even in some situations with df1's and launch, its way slower than Victor's powercrush... good move, far from braindead.

TMM is big on character identities, he has mentioned how many characters have changed to be super agressive rushdown as that's what the devs wanted in the game. Lee is a character he likes and he believes he is top 5 most difficult characters to play somhe doesn't like the T8 changes promoting a brainrot playstyle.

TMM was complaining about the players and not about the character himself but I'm tired of people who know nothing about Lee complain about him while there are characters like Victor,Dragunov (even with the nerfs) and Feng. I play him almost the same as in Tekken 7 but with less 44 and slide (which sucks). If I am about to lose and have little chance to win, only then I go ham with b33. Back in T7 if you ended up in that situation a comeback was almost impossible, now at least you can do that. I'd say T7 had better gameplay overall. If you removed the 2d characters and other guests it would probably be the best tekken gameplay imo

TMM doesn't care about response videos. He makes videos that are sometimes opinionated, but these are not targeted at guys like Fightinggm or Kwiss or King Jae. Those are guys that are still a very small amount of players.

On the way to becoming great at this game you are going to lose a lot.
Just look at what phidix said about block punishment.
You block as much as possible and you will probably lose a lot but on the way your defense will become top tier and block punishment will get so good so when you do start playing hyper aggressive you have both sides of the coin and that’s how you truly become good at this game.
So what main man is saying is that yeah you might lose or the game might be harder if you play super defensively but you learn to play like that so when you do start playing aggressive you trully understand the game.
