You have such beautiful, thick luscious hair, it’s going to look stunning when all that dye has grown out. Well done and keep posting you have a lovely personality which comes over very well in your videos.
Hi Denise! Your lovely comments made my day! 🥰 I'm finding that I think less about my tri-color as time passes but some days I still feel a bit wobbly and your encouragement means a lot to me, thank you.
Stumbled across your video when looking for Gray transition info. I just turned 55 yesterday and have decided to stop dyeing. I only have about 2 inches of natural growth right now, so look forward to seeing how this turns out. I am one of those people that hate going to the salon. When I did finally find someone I could relate to they ended up moving 😢. Appreciate your honesty and advice in these videos.
Hi Catherine! I'm so pleased to hear we are together on this journey! 🥰 It's not always easy but on the difficult days, I try to focus on other things and wear my favorite lipstick or earrings or favorite clothing. 2 inches is a great start! I found the beginning quite challenging, especially the first few weeks when it just looked like I missed a salon appt. Like you, I can't wait to see how my hair turns out. Only one way to find out...
Thank you for sharing your story and experiences. So much of what you said resonates with me. This is a difficult process and your support is very helpful. With gratitude 😊
Thank you for your lovely comments and encouragement. Some days, I feel impatient and tired of this journey and your lovely comments gave me a lift today! Thank you 🥰💗
You look so beautiful with your gray hair! I'm 40+ and have quite a few gray hair growing.. I have not dyed my hair yet.. I feel tempted but having watched your video I think I will not dye it at all. Ecological reasons are close to my heart and I want to stay true to myself. Thank you for your video! It is important to have strong, beautiful women as role models.
Thank you for your lovely comments and words of support. Some days, it's hard to stay the course but I know this is the right decision for me, right now. I totally support your ecological reasons for not dyeing your hair. It's amazing that you've never dyed your hair at all. That's fantastic!
Hello I'm Gina from New York! Thank you so much for sharing, so kind of thoughtful of you. Congratulations! Your hair looks beautiful! 🥰 After coloring my hair for decades, I'm now 7 months into my gray hair transition. I just stopped cold turkey this past November 2nd. I'm not going to lie, I was quite frustrated at first. This month I'm finally enjoying the transition and learning a lot along the way. As you know, as your grey hair grows, you get more and more confident.💕xx
been there done that, it’s now been 3 years for me, so glad I did it, it’s so great once all the dye is out, but ur hair is looking beautiful now. my hair is very salt and pepper, more at the front and mostly pepper in the back, of course no one is ever satisfied, and i wish i had more grey, i’ve had people say, “oh, u ended up adding some dark” and NO, I DID NOT all natural
Hi Gigi! I'm so envious of you being 3 years dye free and embracing your natural hair. At first, I was taken aback by how much white hair I have framing my face, but I have to say, I'm liking it more and more, as I get used to it. My hair is also dark at the back, which seems to be quite a common pattern! Once I get through this, I hope I'm like you and never look back. Sharing your positive experience makes me feel that I've also made the right decision for myself. Thank you for that! 🥰
@@grayexpectations5686 when i was coloring hair (and highlighting, so i had 4 diff colors going) my sideburns would come in white, also temples, rest of the roots were dark with bits of silver here and there. i HATED those white sideburns, so would put wow in a dark brown there all the time, but after deciding to let it go grey, i accepted that those sideburns would be grey and NOW that’s my favorite part bc they are grey streaks and look very cool when i pull hair back or up. my son tells me i look like a superhero with those streaks. Yes, u never know what it will grow in like until you do it, so i basically have 4 big streaks of grey, all in the front, the temples and the sideburns. You look amazing already, much better than i looked at one year btw…
It's been 9 months that I've been going white, I too still have brown multicoloured but yes I'm glad I started. I'm using just alicebands so all I see is white! I feel quite liberated and like you less self conscious. You've hair looks lovely 😍
Thank you for your great suggestions and thoughts. I wish I had a little more hair.. as mine is very thin and fine. But I will try some of these too. You look fantastic! 👏🏼🥰
Thank you Pam; the side braids are super easy and kind of fun. It's interesting how we have certain moments along the way, where the progress is suddenly very noticeable. I love those moments!
I think the gray and white around your face brightens up your eyes and face ❤. I’m just a couple of months in and I’m hoping my gray pattern grows around the hairline in frontside my face like yours.
Thx so much for the encouraging words, Fatima. From the feedback I've received, my gray pattern does seem to be quite common, so hopefully you will like the way your gray grows in. Congrats on making the decision to go natural. It's great to have your company on the journey. 🥰
3 months on my journey i was showing my daughter who is 30 my progress. her reply was thats pretty you need to dye all your hair that color. i expained to her i was growing my natural color in.
What a lovely response from your daughter! 🥰 We certainly all need support on this journey and your daughter's encouragement is just what you need! Thank you for sharing.💞 I'm so pleased to be on this journey with you!
Thx so much for your encouraging comment Eve! Your words have really given me a boost on a day when I'm feeling a little blah about this whole process. 💞
You have beautiful, thick and bouncy (as opposed to limpy) hair! Stay the course! 🙌. I think you’re going to love the result. I’m certainly looking forward to your final look. 😊
Hi Liz, that's so amazing, as we also share the same first name! 🥰 I think about cutting my hair short sometimes too but I feel that I would immediately regret it. My hair doesn't behave well in the humid climate that we live in and I feel that dealing with the grow out is enough for me right now. I actually like the gray/white but the brown is tired and needs to go.
Thank you for your lovely comments, Sally. 19 weeks is amazing progress! I agree that the first few months feel a bit awkward but after the 6 month mark, I was feeling more comfortable with my decision. I still have days when I feel a bit wobbly but I try not to dwell on those feelings. So happy to be on this journey with you! 🥰

Thank you for sharing your thoughts, Vera! I agree going gray is only 1 step on the journey to embracing our authentic selves. For me, it's quite a big step because I don't feel like I'm looking best throughout this transition. The slow pace of this process is giving me time to work on self acceptance and embracing where I am today.
I never realized there were so many variations of gray and white hair and also the pattern of the gray. It's special to hear from someone who shares the same pattern as me. 🤩
Your hair is beautiful! Thank you so much for sharing your journey. I have decided to go natural watching your video has giving me encouragement to keep going. God bless you.
Thank you so much Pat! Watching youtube videos encouraged me to let my hair go natural too. I had been mulling it over for a while but since I hardly knew anyone my age with natural hair color, the videos gave me a personal connection and the boost I needed to give this a try. On the days when you're having second thoughts, try to do a little something special for yourself, maybe wear your favorite blouse or sweater or earrings or even your favorite lipstick. I'm happy to be on this journey with you and I'm here if you need a little pep talk. 🥰
Thank you for your tips on styling. My hair is a bit longer and I will adjust the length later. I stopped colouring my hair cold turkey 3 months ago. It does feel like a very long process. I am very curious about what the new colour will be. I am still hiding the growth with spray pigments but like you, I am ready for this journey. Thank you for sharing yours. You are very inspiring.
I would like to see what your hair looks like in the back with your hairband braid. I just braided the front but the back looked awful with my darker hair- it looked like a sore thumb. The front looked very nice.
Congratulations on your year's milestone. I completely grew the colour out of my hair. Then after some comments, (mother, friends and someone I dated). I 'caved in' and got some highlights and a toner. After a few weeks later I regretted it. So, I've started again - I'm six months in - but refuse to colour it again xx
Thx so much for sharing your journey with me, Donna. 6 months into your re-start is great progress! 😍This time will be easier in some ways because you know exactly what to expect when you get to your destination. I toy with the idea of coloring my hair sometimes but I know in my heart that I would immediately regret it. Your experience validates this for me. At my last salon appointment, I told my hair stylist that I might like to try some low lights or highlights sometime and she discouraged that idea. I think I will sit with it for 6 months before taking any action. I found this journey quite challenging at times and I vow to never go through it again. It's nice to be on this journey with you. We can support each other! 💞
Hi Deborah! You're very welcome. I'm still working on embracing my natural hair color but it definitely gets easier over time. I find changing things up a bit with different hairstyles takes the focus off my 3 colors of hair.
The fun part about turning gray is adjusting the wardrobe. Certain colors just look so much better with gray hair. Same with eye shadow and even lipstick. I sometimes put a little bit of the finest glitter in my hair for special occasions - it just sparkles a tiny bit when the light hits it from the right angle. Have you done some wardrobe changes since the change?
Your comment is so timely because just yesterday as I was driving, I was thinking that my wardrobe needs a shake up. I haven't quite worked it all out yet but I do find that jewel tones look better with my gray. I never really wore red or pink in the past but they look better on me now; I always leaned toward the orange/brown tones which aren't doing much for my new hair color. I love your idea of putting a little titch of glitter in your hair to make it sparkle! What colors do you lean toward?
@@grayexpectations5686 Since the colors of my eyes, skin and - of course - hair lean towards the cool side (color experts would say I am a 'summer-type'), I find that navy, cool reds, or mauve - lilac tones make me look fresh. I love to look at lime, apricot or turqouise - but close to my face they make me look sicklish. But as far as I can see from the video, your intuition with the jewel tones serves you right. Teal, Burgundy or Ultramarine and even cool greys (with a jewel tone scarf) could be awesome and glam 🙂 - the fantastic texture of your hair even allows for some big jewelry statement pieces. Have fun on you adventure (you could become a trendsetter in your neighborhood... :-)
hi! I recommend you check out Katie Goes Platinum TH-cam channel. She is so helpful for people in the grow out process as well as those newly gray with product suggestions etc. I think you’re going to love your silver hair when it fully grows in! My dyed hair has all grown out and I’m shocked how much I like it. It’s so much healthier than the dyed hair. It’s wonderful to go natural knowing I’ll never dye it again. I had to play around with new shampoo, conditioner etc but it’s so much easier than dying. I only had one good week after dying before my roots showed. No longer a worry. Be patient!
Hi Eileen, I agree that Katie Goes Platinum has some great tips for ppl letting their hair go natural. I subscribed some time ago. I also joined her facebook group and I find other ppl's journey photos inspirational. I'm so pleased to hear that you love your natural hair and what a surprise that was for you. I hope I feel the same. I'm certainly not missing the long salon appointments and stressing over roots showing. I'm very determined to see this through and being patient is great advice! 😀
My hair is the same texture as yours. If you would like your bangs to lay perfectly flat for days simply use a flat iron hair straightener. It only takes a couple of minutes and the results are superb! Thank you for a wonderful video!
Thank you for this! The last time I had short bangs, I don't think I had a flat iron. Since we share the same hair texture, I will definitely try using it to tame my bangs in the future. 🥰
¡Bien hecho!🤩💖
The three colors, with how you wear your hair, doesn't look bad at all, but the white is going to be stunning. Salon appointments can be about deep conditioning or some other healthy haircare options.
Hi Booklassy, this process has totally changed the focus of my salon appointments because I now look forward to going and getting a little more of the brown tips cut off. My hair feels soft and healthier when I leave and that's self caring. I think the 3 colors looks worse when it's on oneself as opposed to someone else! LOL But honestly I'm much more comfortable with it as time passes. Thank you for your supportive comments! 🥰
Thank you for the lovely compliment, Jo. In some ways, I found the first 3 months the hardest because my grow out didn't look intentional; it just looked like I had missed a couple of salon appointments. And I was so used to coloring my roots as soon as they appeared, that it was a real mental shift to ignore them and work on embracing them. Keep going, you're doing great! I'm happy to be on this journey with another silver sister.
Looks wonderful, Elizabeth. I also grew mine out and wish I had done it earlier. It's very freeing. I also just got it cut short, which was another step, and love the ease of it, and how inexpensive my hair budget is now!
Thx Denise. I totally agree about natural hair being very freeing and easy on the budget. I look forward to getting rid of the brown and I'm doing it one snip at a time.
Wow Darlene! I'm so pleased to be on this journey with you. The first month is a significant milestone. In the beginning, it can be hard to get used to seeing the roots coming in but it does get easier. Be sure to take some photos along the way, even if they're just for you to see your progress. You've got this!🤩
You look great Elizabeth 😍 I will hit the one year milestone on January 13th. I chose to go cold turkey and it worked for me. I cut my hair jaw length a month ago and now let them grow again. Congratulations from France to you silver sister, I wish you a happy New Year! 🎉
Hi Chantal, thank you for reaching out from France. I love that we both started this process around the same time. Happy New Year to you too! Let your silver shine!
I'm excited to hear we're on the same timeline. I'm feeling a bit impatient at times but I know I'm gaining traction and making process. Thank you for your lovely comments and encouragement! 🥰
Thank you so much for your lovely comments Tammy. They made my day! 🥰 You must be at your 6 month mark of letting your go natural! Yay!! I honestly think this process gets easier as time goes on and for me the first 6 months were the hardest. So happy to be on this journey with you!
Hi Toni! Once my natural color is fully grown out, I may try adding a few highlights/lowlights too. I think it'll give my hair a bit more dimension, especially the white area that frames my face. Lmk if you like it once you give it a try.
I'm sure it will look great on you, your hair is nice and thick.I have a little ways to go before I will be ready to add streaks.@@grayexpectations5686
Hi, I started growing my grey hair totally naturally 3 years 3 months ago, but I still have a lot of brown hair in the same places as you do, but I like it as i think it adds dimension. Mine is salt & pepper. Your grey hair seems the same pattern, eg around face & darker at crown as mine is. I love my grey hair and wish I had done it years ago, I'm almost 67.
Hi Elaina! I honestly think more ppl would love their natural hair if they just gave it a try. It's so interesting that we share the same gray pattern. In the beginning, I was a bit self conscious about the white hair framing my face, but as time goes on, I like it more and more. When I receive comments like yours about ppl loving their natural hair and wishing they'd done it sooner, it really encourages me to keep going. Congrats to you on being natural for over 3 years! Just think of all the time and money you've saved, not to mention the chemicals! Woo hoo! 😍
Hi Beth! I'm so excited that you feel inspired to embrace your gray! We can support one another on this journey. Please keep in touch, so I know how it's going. There may be days when you need a little encouragement or just some inspiration and I'm here for you! 🤩I'm glad you liked my pup! 🐶
17:15 Hi love your hair and videos I’m just starting this natural silver journey but this is my third time! Hopefully my last you really inspire me to do this for good thank you ❤ I’ll be watching your hair styling ideas they are great!
Hi Kathy, hopefully the expression "third time's a charm," rings true for you! This isn't an easy process at all and I totally relate to the feelings that may have caused you to re think your decision in the past. We're in this together! We all need support and inspiration along the way. 😘💗
Thank you for posting your journey. You look beautiful. I’m thinking of doing it, but I have pale skin and look so washed out with light hair. I’ve tried on gray wigs and look terrible, and gray clothes are also an issue. Just not brave enough to try it quite yet. I sure would enjoy the freedom, though . People with olive skin look so beautiful with gray hair. We’ll see if I get the courage!
Hi Anna, thank you for your encouraging comments. I thought about doing this for quite a while before I actually got up the courage to let my hair go natural. It's still hard at times and some days I question my decision. I think weighing out the pros and cons is all part of the process. As you say, it is very freeing, and that's a huge plus. I also agree that each person's journey is unique and some are fortunate enough to have a complexion that really suits going gray. And some with very light colored hair, don't have as stark a contrast when their natural roots start coming in. On the wardrobe side, I've noticed lately that certain colors that I've gravitated to in the past, don't look as good on me with my new hair color, so I'm paying more attention to that. Give yourself the time you need, there's no rush to make a decision, you'll know when the time is right for you. 🥰
HI ! I'll be following your journey. I'v tried 10x but my White hairs turn gray after about 3 1/2 months and DONT look good on me so I just went light brown (semi permenent color)again today. I have an Identical Twin 8 miles away and she's not ready yet maybe next year, friend Connie
Hi Connie! Thank you for following my gray hair transition. I'm sure you can teach me something about this journey since you've been through it before. I'm now wondering if it's likely that my white hair will become more gray over time. Did you get completely through the transition when this happened? It's very special that you have an identical twin sister that lives so close by. Maybe you and your twin can do this together in the future; that would be very special. 🥰💗
I love your video my hair is greying the same lighter around the front Dying it is starting to become a problem , I have been using dark Ash blond which starts off too dark and then washes out to a light blond always feel yellow is an issue and you have inspired me to think about leaving it to be natural ,scary thought tho I'm 65 soon and always try to look young for my age but it's getting harder to do .xxxx
Hi Wendy! I totally relate to wanting to look your best and wanting to look and feel young for your age. Some days, I force myself to put a little extra effort into my appearance, so that I feel better about how I look. There's definitely a mental shift that occurs as you go through this journey and I give myself an extra dose of positive self talk when I need it. Like you, I wasn't aways happy with how my dyed hair looked, it was often too dark immediately after my appointments and then could get brassy when I was due for a color. I don't have any friends my age letting their hair go natural and I'm turning 60 this year! Let's do this together! 🥰💗
Gray hair is so beautiful! I even feel sometimes that hair with coloration ages a person even more. I mean everyone sees the biological age... And with colored hair the whole appearance just looks somewhat disjointed, or out of sync. Keep going - its beautiful.
I am noticing more and more that dyed hair doesn't always flatter or look natural as we age. Sometimes the dye just looks too dark and it's a stark contrast to a mature complexion. I had a wobble last week where I was just not feeling good about the way I look. On those days, I turn to my favorite earrings or other special accessory that picks me up. I really appreciate your positive attitude and encouragement. 🥰
@@grayexpectations5686 I know those 'shakeys' well - also in other matters where change is due. When in stress we revert to what's familiar, even though the 'old ways' have outlived their welcome... I am looking forward to another vid - if you feel like it ;-)

Could you post another update please. Your natural color is beautiful
Hi Marianne, I'm working on it! Thx so much for your message. I will post one soon.
Thank you for the tips in styling. I think your natural hair looks so nice.
You look great! A wonderful video for someone like me, a beginner. Thank you!
Hi Susana, thx so much for your message. Great to be with you on this journey.
Your hair is gorgeous 🙂
¡Bien hecho!🤩💖
Well done Elizabeth! What a year!!! You did it & it’s fun to see your hairstyle evolve. Love u
It seems longer than a year, in some ways but I finally feel like I'm gaining some traction! Yay
You look absolutely stunning! I’m about 3 months in ☺️🤞🤞
Thank you for the lovely compliment, Jo.
Looking great lovely
Thank you for your lovely comment. Some days are a challenge but I'm gaining traction and hope I'm at least 1/2 way to my destination! 🤩
I look forward to getting rid of the brown and I'm doing it one snip at a time.
nice
short woeks
I love your videos...thank you for sharing your journey. I started my journey a month ago. 💜
I am on same timeline as you..thank you for the inspiration and love your style!
I'm excited to hear we're on the same timeline. I'm feeling a bit impatient at times but I know I'm gaining traction and making process. Thank you for your lovely comments and encouragement! 🥰
I love your hair! You are beautiful and brave! You make me feel better because I am going on this journey. I started in august. 👍
Thank you so much for your lovely comments Tammy. They made my day! 🥰 You must be at your 6 month mark of letting your go natural! Yay!! I honestly think this process gets easier as time goes on and for me the first 6 months were the hardest. So happy to be on this journey with you!
Love your hair pulled back😍.I'm growing mine out too and will put just a few dark streaks in for contrast.
Woo hoo! 😍
You’re so beautiful 😻!!! You have inspired me to embrace the gray and I appreciate that very much. Thank you!
Great job, you look fantastic
Thank you Gertie! I really appreciate the encouragement.
What great video- you look gorgeous!!!!
Thx so much Susie!
HI ! I'll be following your journey. I'v tried 10x but my White hairs turn gray after about 3 1/2 months and DONT look good on me so I just went light brown (semi permenent color)again today. I have an Identical Twin 8 miles away and she's not ready yet maybe next year, friend Connie
and yes I wear a long pony tail all the time :)
@@grayexpectations5686 you have lasted 6 1/2 months longer than me. keep up the journey :)
You’re beautiful!
I am looking forward to another vid - if you feel like it ;-)
It's 6 months later. Do you still have Franklin for another photo shoot? 🙂😉
Hi Becky! Yes, Franklin makes a very quick cameo in this video at 11: 13! Did you catch it? LOL
11:13 lol!!!!
You look maavelous
Thank you Jodi! Some days are easier than others for sure. I do find the simple hair styles that I use help take the focus off my tri-colour hair.
Very glam
Thank you for being so supportive Melina! 🥰 It's hard some days because I know I'm not looking my best throughout the growing out phase but I'm doing my best!
@@grayexpectations5686 thats all you can do after all its only hair.. the most important thing in the world..lol.. just a bit of humor 😁😁😁😁
@@grayexpectations5686 the white part is quite flattering. And youthful
🙏🙏🙏👍👍👍👍🇬🇪
the volume was too low
Hi Angela, I'm not sure why the volume is so low for you. I do apologize. If you increase the volume on your speakers, is it still too low for you?
