Lots of great details here. I’ve been shoveling my whole life and you still provided a lot of information that was new to me. Great job.

Thank you for the basic. I just moved from LA to Utha. in my 73 yrs I had never even seen snow come out of the sky. So being told I would have to remove snow from the front of my house was a real eye opener. It took about the same amount of time as cutting the grass last spring. I guess it's just a tradeoff. grass then snow. Your suggestion of changing directions to use different muscles is a great one. Thanks again

I had back problems some time ago. We have lots of snow here in the winter (Canada). I prefer to use a narrower shovel instead of big ones. Big scoop in wet snow can tire you really quickly. I prefer smaller, easier scoop. In the end i can shovel much longer. Also I try not to twist my upper body when i throw the snow. Always in front. Big shovels, I mostly use them for pushing snow. But that's my take on the matter

Says to bend the knees but still lifts with his back. Try bending more and keep the back straight. Less bending over. Don't twist you body to throw the snow the way he did at 4:00 minutes. That's asking for back problems. You should always toss in the direction where you hold the lowest part of the shovel. Your support hand holds the handle which is of leverage, better weight distribution of the shovel with weight. If you can't afford a snow blower, get a snow pusher over a shovel less likely to pick up the snow to toss. Also get a snow shovel/pusher with a metal blade. Makes it easier to clean the stepped on snow. It's better to push the snow and pick up once instead of picking up every step you take, also faster.hope this is more helpful than the video.

Very good video. I was told by my chiropractor not to push the snow bent over cuz it uses hip muscles.
I can't believe the government can tell you, what you can do with your property for snow removal. That really isn't right. What if you were wanted to go on vacation to Florida for the winter? I know here in New England, lots of people leave for Florida and never clean their driveways.
    Just subbed, you're very interesting.

Just moved north from Texas. I'm used to some snow but 1-2 inches shuts the city down. Now I'm in a place that can have feet of snow. That being said, what are some good snow melts? I know salt and kitty litter but anything else

Don’t use kitty litter that just turns into mush once the snow melts, driveway salt is the best solution, The trick is to put it down before the snow starts falling, then again after you shoveled.

Driveway salt is the best option. The trick is to spread some down before the snow starts falling, then again after you’ve shoveled. This isn’t usually necessary unless the temperatures are consistently cold and it’s not warm enough to melt ice. In The Denver area at least the sun usually will come out and melt any ice that’s on exposed sidewalks.

1:05 what do you mean "edge is sharp" - on plastic shovel? I'd recommended you to choose the right shovel from store with built in any metal ending on that edge. If not - you must take care of it and make it yourself. That will improve your tool dramatically on the different types of paths and driveways where lots of bumps, ice and cuts in concrete pavement or protrusions on the ground. Otherwise you gonna spent you time and money in buying a new shitty shovel each time you have to do a snow removal work.

Trying to find at least one video showing that if you take the snow off of the adjacent grass it helps to reduce the melt and runoff that create skating rinks on the sidewalks...

As he shovels onto the street to protect his plants after saying how that is illegal...

Actually I was shoveling away from the beds and onto my driveway, but good observation, protecting beds around the driveway can be a real pain.

    • @Muhammadalimuh

That was his driveway. Why say anything at all if you don't know it just makes you sound dumb and the creater feel bad.

@@Muhammadalimuh From what I saw, it looked like the street even with a car parked on it. As a video on snow shoveling, with the comments that it is illegal to shovel onto public streets, what's shown should be consistent with what's being said regardless of your feeble ad hominem comment.

Did you know that you can go to heaven for free? This one decision can change your eternity forever. Jesus died for both mine and your sins. All you have to do is confess that you’re a sinner and accept Jesus as your savior.👍🏽
