That's one of the better ideas I've seen for a small boat. It's almost perfect and the only improvement (for me anyway) would be some place for rods and fishing tackle boxes, etc. Looks easy enough to build and floats good for one person. I may have to draw up some plans to see how/where to add more storage.
I can see a mini trailer that matches the boat behind the boat on a short rope full of supplies and food , pop up an umbrella and have a sandwich maybe a few tools radio with batteries stuff like that in it. I really love this boat . I would love to make one just like this . But ive been a home builder my whole life and my back has gone out on me so i cant eork which means i couldnt afford to buy the stuff to make it. I live in a very small town way away from a city. All we have here is a dollar general. And a hometown small hardware store. I haven't even seen these barrels around here. But have boys that would love to take this to the river. I would buy a small boat if i could . I need to come up with something like this ! My boys are under 12 and always bord . That thing sets up nice on the water . You done the best job ive seen anyone do . Its neat lightweight. Man i had a pop up canopy that the wind caught and tore up . The legs on that would've worked for the frame. I belive rubber intertube strips would work to connect the joints,screwed with self tapping screws , cut strips of strong rubber or water hose. Im thinking and writing what im thinking , sorry lol.. anyways very nice , someday i will find away
Definitely one of your sturdiest builds yet. More storage and maybe streamline the pontoons and you're golden!
To be honest, I am having a hard time finding a heavy duty and not to expensive nose cone. I tried a couple of clear plastic salad bowls and they just cracked and broke. I am open to any suggestion that anyone might have. Thank you for the comment :)

Very nice little fishing boat. I'm hoping to build something very similar.
All barrel boats should have diverters front and BACK. This makes a huge improvement in range and handling. EMT is great for paddling around a puddle, but will not stand up to any waves or boat wake. Even 2 x 2 12g steel studs bend. 2 x 4 12g minimum steel studs.

Newly subscribed after watching the conduit video. Definitely interested in a cut list as well. For a nose take two of the flotation devices off of an older project, cut them into a cone shape, seal, and bolt them to the front of the barrel 🤷🏻♂️ might work

I like it. I think that's an amazing fishing craft. The only thing I might add besides what you mentioned is perhaps about 200 watts of overhead solar panels. Longer battery life for long fishing day, little shade for fisherman, especially if it swiveled with you on the chair. That would pretty much keep it out of the way when you cast your reel. Just a thought.

Maybe 3/4” pvc filled with spray foam for firmness could take place of the EMT.

They look like tear drop trailers. By the way, where did you get connectors for your emt conduit (the black ones)? What size conduit did you use! Looks like 1/2''.
The connectors came from a company called Maker Pipe. The web site is Makerpipe.com, and the boat was mainly constructed from 1/2-inch EMT. Thanks for the questions.

The trolling motor was a Minn Kota 55-lb. and the batteries were two 12 volt lithium ion batteries that were wired in parallel. Thanks for the question
what size emt conduit did you use ? would you happen to have material list of how much emt conduit needed been trying to find somthing just like this so i can get off the bank and looks like you hit design and everything on the nail. keep up the great videos

supergoku1 I have 60 of those barrwls but mine are 55 gallon plastic barrels that I am trying to make a large mobile floating island with a welded metal frame and then tarp and soil and grass on top.
Do you think I could use this emt conduit in the same way but on a larger scale to make My mobile floating island frame and forget the welding?
To be honest, I'm not sure. If you can, I would go to the TH-cam channel www.youtube.com/@MakerPipe They are the ones that make the EMT connectors. They constantly do test on the EMT pipe to see how well it performs with weight and other test. They also might be able to answer the water proofing question. I know they have tried many ways to paint the EMT conduit as well. I hope that helps and thank you for the great questions.

What kind of straps are you using to strap down your barrels

Maybe Add cones to the front of the pontoons to cut through the water more easily.

🤔...maybe, start with experimenting cone shapes with large sheets of thick construction paper / thin cardboard for proof of concept, ...copying a simplified shape of a canoe bow. then make the bow (x2) out of the same jug material.
...fastening it without drilling holes in the pontoon will be the trick.
...maybe a super strong adhesive for the plastic type of the pontoon jugs, and maybe add just a few of rivets at the sides and top only. (also, the seat might be more comfortable to raise the seat 6, 8 or 10 inches as long as it's still stable...and, maybe add a way to stand up periodically, if you stay out there as long as I do🖖😁)
....and maybe add a small solar panel for charging the battery while fishing...cheap ones Amazon.

What are the black straps?

This is outstanding! How do you keep the water out of the pontoon? They are drilled. Would Water impervious Polyvinyl Chloride Foam keep the craft afloat if water got into the pontoons?
Actually, 4 of the barrels are completely sealed. The other 2 only have a hole on the very top just around the coolers. They are high enough out of the water to not have any water come in. If I decide to use it in rough water, I will probably just seal them up. I will look into adding foam peanuts in the future for added safety. Thank you for the comments, and the questions.

How much weight will the raft hold?
To be honest, I'm not sure how much weight it will hold. I can only guess for now until I can test it. The math I normally use is a 1-gallon container will float around 8 lbs. minus the weight of the container. So, each barrel is 15 gallons and should float around 120 minus 5 lbs. for the weight of the barrel. 115 lbs. x 6 barrels is 690 lbs., will it actually float that much without the conduit bending, probably not. I can let you know when I get a chance to do a weight test. Thank you for the question, I really appreciate it :)

Unfortunately, I don't have the boat anymore to measure it. But the barrels are 14 inches wide and the seat is about 22 inches wide. My best guess is around 50 inches. Thank you for the question, I appreciate it.

To be honest, I do not keep track of how much I spend on my projects. I do remember that the barrels range between $10 to $15 each. But that was a year ago or so when I bought them. Thank you for the question :)
