Fighting Mucktorok with Hydrants on Homing Carts (Depths Rematch)

- Mucktorok's boss fight at the Water Temple encourages the player to rely on Sidon's sage ability which makes the player forget all about the Hydrants. I wanted to find a way to utilize the Hydrants to fight Mucktorok that made sense and contributed to its overall defeat.

'Hell or High Water" as the saying goes
Hydro cleaner bots vs the goofy sludge spewing Menace
For the rematch, I stuck 4 hydrants onto a big wheel and attached it to a float stone, and placed it above so the entire area would be constantly sprayed with water
Amazing idea
Fucking genius
There's a yiga schematic for that exact device
@@billyapel9529where’s the base for it?
That schematic doesn't have a wheel. It's just a cross with hydrants on the ends.
I gotta say - that battalion of miniature tanks advancing implacably on that frenzied-looking boss is surprisingly intimidating. It's like being attacked by an army of Energizer Bunnies.
What a horrific sight that would be if it was actually the Energizer Bunnies
🤓 Duracell Bunnies
One is American, one is English. Different battery brands, two pink bunnies
@@pronounhoarder_8632 This checks out
Muktorok’s theme is no longer for the muk shark. Now it’s the theme of the water roombas slowly approaching
Insert the jaws theme but not for the shark but for the water roombas
The whole arc with saving the Zoras, it felt like an Easter egg to Mario Sunshine, which I can’t complain cause Sidon is just too sweet.
YESSS the sludge has to be inspired by Mario Sunshine and the hydrants are FLUDD
It was very nostalgic
I kept cracking jokes saying the same thing LOL
I felt like I was beating up an Inkling during the boss fight. As soon as I saw what it was doing, it gave me Nam flashbacks to “You’re a kid/You’re a squid”. Glad to see this guy make that gunk spouting invertebrate suffer. Doing god’s work out there.
@@MrNickPresley the way it jumps around in phase 2 into the sludge reminded me heavily of the inklings from Splatoon
Put stabilizers on your combat roombas to make them “immortal” (prevent them from turning over)
"Combat roombas"...🤣🤣🤣
And add a construct head so it will always turn towards the enemy
I just built a single one with a stabilizer, big wheel, and 4 hydrants on top. It completely wrecked Mucktorok.
I made the same thing! Almost trivialized the boss
"COMBAT ROOMBAS" HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!
It’s safe to say this is the “cleanest” boss fight I have seen
Mr. Clean would be proud
Well, ya can’t really call it a dirty trick, now can you?
@@CodesTheOtaku indeed you can’t

Mr Clean Vs. Mucktorok who wins
I actually found that Sidon's ability was so hard to target and Muktorok so annoying to chase down through the puddles (because I didn't think of just shooting it) that I went with a sprinkler (homing cart + big wheel + 2 hydrants) immediately. Felt a little weird to be building something from scratch in the middle of a boss fight but it was worth it.
Building devices in the middle of the fight gives off the same vibes of using rockets in the shrines, whatever works works
Same. Never used Sidon. Just had a levitating spinning sprinkler saved. Was disappointed how weak this boss was. It felt like cheating.
@@JonathanAnimate2 Another sprinkler contraption user, respect
@@crackededge9351 agree, the water damage is a plus its main priorities is to shield
I just fused an opal to a weapon, maybe a wizard staff and it worked pretty well
I love that the homing carts struck the killing blow 😂
I’m glad someone noticed, its poetic isn’t it?
I never thought of doing that lol, I just used an opal rod instead. Being able to shoot 3 big water balls on demand made sidon's ability (for that fight's intended purpose at least) into a complete joke
Opal rod was made for this fight
Hydrant shield is a good idea. I didn't think of that.
It makes this fight so much easier I love it
The rematch was a lot more annoying this is great haha
it was so annoying without zero grav
Really? I thought the rematch was easier.
@@sashashadowhive6128yep. There's no low gravity to instantly pull a bullet time with splash fruit/king scale
@@sashashadowhive6128 that's because u likely had much more powerful weapons and armor the second time.
Quick tip: fuse a wing to your shield and do a shield jump while spamming the ZR bow button. you can get instant bullettime from it which really helps in phase 2 when he’s jumping around the mud like crazy
oh btw if you are trying to recover the friends that got pushed over. using ZL will rotate them to "upright". it sometimes doesn't do it right for items without a clear up and down but i think it'd work for the hydrants and buddies.
I always forget about the reset option for the rotations thanks for the reminder
@@SeeYa4Dhaven’t gotten too much into the game but wouldn’t a stabilizer work as well?
The controls' naming gives you the wrong idea. It doesn't set objects to a "default" rotation, it "flattens" their rotation toward the ground. Fans will either be upright or upside down depending on what would rotate it the least. Also it doesn't matter how many objects are attached, it will always try to do this with the device you currently pick up and focus with Ultrahand.
Knowing which part to pick up will save you a ton of headaches so you don't do something, like, flatten a sideways fan and get your control stick out of reach.
@@mattrocks1001stabilizers are not necessarily needed but I guess the hydrant would never fall over
@@uploader109 I didn't realize that i could've checked the controls for the name lmao. i do realize that it flattens the part you hold on to. That's why i said it should work the same way for both of the parts. Thanks for the elaboration!
4:18 That death animation is brutal
Complete Annihilation
Flawless Victory
Good! That boss is annoying, it should suffer
Its like the Mars Attacks Movie
It is deserved though
So, I did this too, but instead of an army of homing carts with hydrants, I had one Homing Cart, a Stabilizer on that to keep it upright, a big wheel on it's side that would spin on top of the stabilizer, four hydrants on the wheel for a spinning umbrella of water, and a construct head with hydrant below the wheel to aim water always directly ahead.
It made the second phase incredibly easy.
The sprinkler works way better for phase two, I think a stabilizer is too expensive but definitely works
I have a Hoverstone/Large Wheel/3x Wood Beams/8x Hydrant build that catches every inch of the arena with water, so even in Phase 2, the much doesn't last but a few seconds.
You essentially just created a shower 😂 congrats
@@SeeYa4D And? Best damn sprinkler system in Hyrule!
@@budgetcoinhunteramen to that
I think you can shoot him with an arrow during the "hop around everywhere" parts of phase 2 (when it's not protected by a shark but still speeding around the arena) to stun him and get some extra hits in. Also, for those saying Sidon's water attack is too hard to use, try using a spear and the lock-on button.
Homing arrows trivialize this fight, I personally don’t think Sidon’s ability is hard to use but a lot of people have been complaining about it
@@SeeYa4D not so much hard to use as just ineffective. By far the worst of the sages.
@@trza49er I can agree with this
@@trza49erI honestly find Mineru entirely useless outside of the enforced boss fight, and even then she feels so slow and clunky.
Plus I tried it, you can't even bot fight with Kogha using Mineru, again, too slow and ineffective.
She runs faster alongside you and other sage avatars than she does while you're riding.
I LOVE this idea .... I've really been put off a rematch because Sidon is so flippin' useless with the water thing (really don't get what his ability achieves at all)
Sidons ability has a wet mechanic that doubles the damage of zora weapons, thats what I primarily use it for
Also makes lightning do more damage.
@@belot217
When you get struck by it or if you get the enemies wet?
In addition to the above, it offers burning resistance for long enough for the ability to respawn, so as long as you can find Sidon to activate it, you have free burning resist.
To sum it all up you get the “wet” property which mitigates heat, conducts electricity, and doubles your damage with Zora weapons
this new splatoon 3 DLC looks really cool.
Inkling got a new friend
I did the same. It doesn't work very well because they're too slow. Instead, you can make a faster "homing cart" by placing an upside down constuct head on a fast wheel. The wheel is fast and the head steers the wheel toward any enemies
I am not to concern about the speed since my main goal with the hydrants was to just have them get rid of the phase 2 sludge
“I’m so ready to fight this guy, I just hope he doesn’t have a stupid amount of hydrants.”
“Oh my god”
HAHAHA that went from 0-100 real quick
This is brilliant. Well done sir
Thank you, much appreciated!
This was amazing!! For some reason, it never occurred to me to use hydrants this way!
I know right!
omg this is hilarious to watch XD what a great use of the hydrants!
Thank you! Glad to hear you enjoyed it!
Did anyone else ever find the mucktorock’s death…..disturbing to say the least?
It was the most brutal death animation in the game in my opinion
I felt sorry for him.
@@robertoceferino1456 the little guy didn’t stand a chance
Yes. No matter how many times I see it, I find it very disturbing every time. He just… rips apart! While screaming. It’s very uncomfortable.☹️ also,…
SPOILERS AHEAD! For anyone who hasn’t played Twilight Princess, and wishes to do so one day and discover things on your own, DO NOT READ ON!!
You’ve been warned.
It kinda reminds me of the way Zant blew up in Twilight Princess when Midna attacked him, but Mucktorock’s is even worse.
I did the same thing during my playthrough! However, if you add a wheel to make the hydrants spin, they are 10x more effective.
Nothing is more intimidating to Mucktorok than a fire hydrant on a roomba
Oh my word, why haven’t I done this yet? This is amazing.
You should add cannons on top of the hydrants and tell me how it goes
Oh that would be funny. But I’ve grinded so many Lynel parts and weapons that I might not need the cannons. ^^”
Every time you fight this guy it's making me think of Galaxy Quest...
Thats quite the throwback
These little unstoppable robots got something hilarious
They are mini fire fighter robots straight out of the academy
I wanted to do something like this SO BAD while fighting this lil shit in the sky, but my idiot ass misread the timebomb description and thought i could activate a buncha hydrants at once and blew them all across Hyrule....
This is so funny, I can imagine a hydrant falling from a sky and hitting some goron kid on a minecart
When your kid won’t take a bath, you chase him with AI fire hydrants lol
AI Fire Hydrants I’m dead
Zonai hydrant drones to Mucktorok: We're gonna drown you to death 💀😂
They stand no chance against our army of zonai hydrants
Clever! My solution was to attach a pair of hydrants to the schematic for the Fire Balloon or whatever the rising spinny one was called. This looks WAY more fun.
I’ve never heard of this one this before it sounds like really clever idea
this is next level
I copied an early design I saw on TH-cam with a big wheel attached to stake. With 3 of the long trees attached at angles, with 3 hydrants on each branch. It’s an expensive autobuild but if you ease your way into the battle field you can throw out the pieces you need to assist in lowering autobuild hit to zonaite!
This sounds fun
Splatoon meets Super Mario Sunshine meets Legend of Zelda. What a mashup!
Nintendo outdid themselves yet again!
I actually did this in the initial fight against it! I also slapped a big wheel on the top, and attached the hydrant to the rim of the wheel so it would spray in a circle. Not very stable (putting a stabilizer on there like someone else suggested would probably help a lot) but it clears like a 12' wide path straight through the sludge and also douses the Mucktorock in rapid short bursts, so you can actually stun it in half a second
The wheel tech is superior
This is absolutely genius! I gotta tey this out. This boss was pretty easy tbh, and eyeballs on arrows is really handy there as well.
I could of used the eyeball arrows but I decided to save my materials and let my army do all the work
@@SeeYa4D that's valid
I did the exact same thing about the second or third time i had to refight this boss. Although I ended up just using ultrahand to just move one of them directly onto the boss because they're kinda to slow.
I considered moving them manually but I thought it be more fun to let them loose at this point in the game
This. It never even crossed my mind to use the homing carts.
with the flame entanglement glitch you can make a floating network of hydrants connected to a large wheel to pretty much cover the whole arena
I try to play without using glitches but this sounds interesting
I love the silly music whenever its vulnerable.
It really emphasizes the puppet and puppeteer aspect of this fight
The fact that they're so ridiculously slow is hilarious. It's like watching a tractor coming straight for you
You get it!
I did something similar, except I made 2 homing sprinkler hydrants. Made the rematch sooo much easier. Which was a homing cart stabilizer, big wheel, 4 hydrants and a big battery. Mucktorok had nowhere to run😂
I played around with the sentries but realized that for Phase 2 I just need them to clean up the sludge while trailing towards the boss
Brilliant!
Thank you!
Closest we'll ever get to a Mario Sunshine 2.
Plays Delphino Plaza*
I just held one with ultrahand, made the fight a cinch. I hated fighting him in the water temple, didn’t have any hydrants there, it was my first temple.
I also hated fighting this boss at the water temple, I fought it last and still did it the vanilla way despite being exposed to the hydrants early on
I felt so smart for figuring this trick out in my own. I was low on weapons and health so I just started creating a lil army of these guys to hunt him down. So funny
This just shows off your resourcefulness in a pinch, well done!
Boomarang with Hydrant! Throw it in the air and it clears all mud! And you can use it infinate
Boomerang sounds so fun I want to try this now
Call a -ambulance- firetruck. But not for me!
This video does emanate this meme
Nice, I did this same thing when I was there, except I also put a wheel sideways on top of the cart and the hydrant on the wheel so it spins around
You not alone, a lot of people have been telling me about using the wheel
Those roomba guys are too slow to really be effective.
My setup is this:
cart, stabilizer in middle, construct head on both end pointing out, fan on each construct head pointing so they blow towards each other, hydrant on back of fan so they face out, beam emitter attached to bottom of hydrant (in front of construct face) pointing out. I sometimes add hydrants coming off the sides of the cart next in the middle next to the stabilizer, just so there's a constant source of water even when the construct heads aren't specifically tracking.
They can get INCREDIBLY fast to the point its sometimes hard to keep up with how fast it follows. The beam doesn't do much, but it does make sure that once he gets cleansed, the beam usually registers as enough damage to trip him up so it's easier to smack him.
Used simular idea with 2 hydrants on rotating horizontal wheel . Works like a charm but man are homing carts slow .
PS: You can knock it out of this annoying mud jumping at 3:53 with an arrow . I used electric frtuit but other things should work as well
Yeah with wheel you can create a shower, I was trying to fight this boss without using a bow but nonetheless a good tactic
never have I seen something so scared of taking a bath before. XD
Mucktorok can't handle the showers
Love it. Hated chasing that little bugger in phase two
Trust me no one liked chasing him in phase two
Haha, I fought him the same way at the temple. It worked so well, I was relatively proud of myself at the time.
You should be proud its a honorable tactic
This is brilliant. Because lord knows this boss was super annoying to fight
Tell me about it, the little guy is just jumping around while we are on clean up duty
What did you use to clear away the slime? I used an opal rod and found it really easy that way.
@@patrikvavro1611 Opal rod is most likely the best way
Nintendo thinks that chasing things around is really fun for players. The companions are another great example of this.
This comment made me spit out my water, I agree though, leave it to Nintendo to make us chase things around in every single one of their games
such a good idea
Thank you!
That does look like it makes the fight significantly easier to deal with 😀
Its a lot more fun letting the machines do the work for you
Highly recommend fighting him with a fire hydrant attached to a motorcycle. So much more fun.
First order of business is to make the motorcycle
Either use the yiga schematic or make one with a small wheel, a steering stick and a stabilizer, adding a light is nice too. Then put the fire hydrant in the back and the sides. Then unless your left stick has drift (like mine, which made it a bit harder), your all set. Would’ve been better if I did it in lessened gravity tho, that way I could jump off and shoot him bullet time.
@@CallMeBackSamantha will give this a try thank you!
I did the same thing but also put a large wheel on the homing cart so it spins the hydrant
Omg why did I never think of this 😂 I really need to use the homing bots more
Combine them with the sentries and you got yourself a fully automated killing machine, with the right amount of batteries
@@SeeYa4D what’s embarrassing is that I have full batteries 😂 I mainly use builds for getting around and not combat
Opal rod works way faster.
Agree, maybe I'll try to see how fast I can beat this boss next time
I totally should have done this. There was mud everywhere so I took out a hydrant and just carried it so I could go forward. Fight took FOREVER!
I’m sure this is what most people did if they did the fire temple first
*local unaccompanied youth viciously torments small innocent animal*
That is no animal nor is it innocent
if you put a large wheel on the homing cart and attach swords to the wheel with the hydrants on top the roomba will literaly solo him.
You even got the Lore accurate Link outfit
I love that outfit, It feels so iconic
Terminator theme intensifies.
Get to the Zonai Choppa
I just did something like this yesterday except I put 3 hydrants on a big wheel then put that on the homing carts so they acted like wide area sprinklers.
This is exactly what I ended up doing.
Great minds think alike
Lol this is what i did. I just brought out a hydrant and ultrahanded it to his face .
You gave Mucktorok that power wash
the power of technology
The Age of the AI
My cheese method is almost the same as yours. I over engineered a big wheel, a stabilizer, and three hydrants on top of the roomba. Mucktorok didn't know what hit him 😅
A very classy way to deal with
OMG!
I hate myself for not thinking about this before. >.
Gotta give it a try now!

Platoon sounds nice but not sure many people know what a platoon is
That’s very cool
I never use my zonai device cause it’s broken but this can be really fun to mess with lol
The things you can do are limitless hopefully DLC adds new devices
Interesting. I defeted that with around 5 hearts, arrows with attached water jellies and a few weapons with 25 power. I always shoot with motion controls though for that precision
No one I know uses motion controls, its pretty cool seeing it get utilized
@@SeeYa4D if they could stop motion controls from drifting it would make everyone incredibly accurate, but it always drifts slowly and that is likely why no one uses it. If they just made it so you could use a mouse I would never miss. Basically why they had to develop aim assist for the popular games. Gyros drift problems can be eliminated by adding more sensors but that would drain more battery and cost more.
@@SeeYa4D no one uses it is good to know. I suspect everyone does not take the time to adapt. That could make an interesting video somehow. For example, by the time I run out of stamina when shooting 8 times at someone in slow motion I am no longer pointing at the TV but am pointing about 120 degrees in rotation away from the TV, but still nailing my shots. Title of video, this is what it takes to commit to being good with Nintendo's $80 motion controls and get the most money out of that mystic bunny in TOTK.
I need those bottom parts for my golem. Where can I get them? Right now, it the golem sticks up and shoots two cannons and a laser, aimed with a construct head, while all of it sticks on a stabilizer to stay up.
What do you mean by golem
The hydrants in this remind me of Daleks from Doctor Who XD
I see the resemblance now
I can hear them now… “IR-RI-GATE!! IR-RI-GATE!!”

It only leaves behind octorock parts once defeated
i saw a speedrun strat where they fuse the bat eye to an arrow when the mucktorock is in his second phase
That makes a lot of sense, the eyes have homing on them which makes you instantly hit him and not have to worry about him jumping away
You should try to make a contraption but with a big wheel on the hydrant so the water is more effiient!
I shall indeed give it a try, a lot of people are requesting this

Wow you had the master sword for this fight, you were well equipped
@@SeeYa4D lol my bad, forgot that the master sword is part of the story line, but the opal fusion still works well on other weapons so it’s definitely worth a try since the water bubbles linger for quite some time
@@rubberduckie9885 people are saying opal rod is best for this fight in particular
if you fuse an opal to a magic rod, it shoots three water bubbles instead of just one
@@patrikvavro1611 indeed, the extra water bubbles makes the fight so much easier, but making the plans to bring an opal rod is kind of awkward especially since outside of this fight, the opal rod is kind of trash lol, but if you just want an effective sludge clear, an opal fused to anything during the fight can work just as well
I just do the easy thing and use a hydrant on a boomerang
I did this with a hydrant hover trike but honestly this looks more efficient
I think the most efficient build will be one hydrant with a stabilizer that is constantly spinning on a wheel, but my army is still a lot more entertaining imo
