the reason its called Armageddon is because bruce willis is like 'armageddon outa here!' and goes to space....

This movie always plays on the TV at work (I work at a pub). I always seem to walk by when the guy is showing he's smart by quickly solving the Rubics Cube. I always hear Craig saying, "Universal sign of genius!"

Hearing Matt talk about rap music non-ironically seriously makes my day every time he does it.

When it first came out on DVD my friend made me watch it, and I made it all the way to the "which wire do we cut" scene when I finally said "No Mas". Never watched the end and never will. I just could not believe they had to resort to placing one of the most overused cliches of all time in their movie. Unreal...

You really have to see Hamlet on stage, everything in the play is made to be viewed that way. I went to see the RSC production of Hamlet a few years back featuring Patrick Stewart and David Tennant. Magnificent performance.

I can pretend I hate Armageddon, but when it was in theaters, I was still at that age where movies were magic and Armageddon was pretty fantastic. Of course with age comes wisdom and you start to say "wait, it's harder for NASA to train astronauts to drill than it is to teach drillers to be astronauts? that makes NO SENSE!" but I still can't deny that this film helped ignite my passion for what a film could do and the emotional roller coaster that is going to the movies, so I still love it despite all the flaws.

simple reward idea for donations: the option to have a comment or question on the next episode (if appropriate and not too damn long). Set reasonable guidelines, but something like that would definitely be wanted, inexpensive, and add just as much interesting material to the episodes as every other comment and question does. Plus, seeing it in an episode acts as an active reminder to what we could get if we donated, stimulating further interest without the need to list optional or various others

I really like what you two say about Bay and Bruckhiemer about their stereotype filmaking. I'll watch his movies over and over but they really go through the motions when it comes to anything but action scenes.

Tom Waits is definitely in "The Outsiders," he opens the door at the greaser hangout, though he had a bigger role in "Rumble Fish." Coppola likes him some Waits. He did the music for Coppola's "One From The Heart" also.

Have you guys seen John Carpenter's directorial debut 'Dark Star'? It was a low-budget science-fiction dark comedy that was actually pretty good. It also stars Dan O'Bannon who would later re-use parts of the movie in his script for 'Alien', and also inspired the British sitcom 'Red Dwarf'.

I tried to watch Armageddon once, but I was sick and kinda stoned and fell asleep; it looks like I didn't miss much. Thank you so much for reviewing this film! It confirmed all my initial impressions about it, and now I don't have try to sit through it again. :)
I recently watched Shock Treatment, the little known followup to Rocky Horror, for the first time. I got it at Big Lots for only $3, which is kinda sad. The music was surprisingly good and the film was quite prophetic about reality TV.

If you're looking for another animated feature I'd recommend "The Castle of Cagliostro". It's Hiyao Miyazaki's first feature length movie, and I often call it the "Raiders of the Lost Ark" of animation. Steven Spielberg loves this movie, saying that the car chase is one of the best in any film. If you choose this movie please keep in mind there are two versions of the first credits sequence, one with animated backgrounds, and one with static images.

Have you seen Sunshine? It's got one of my favorite actors, Cillian Murphy, and it's got a nice mix believable sci-fi and survival horror. It's an end of the world movie, but it doesn't dwell on that as much as character interaction. If you haven't seen it, you totally should!

Hey guys, love the show. I was wondering if you have seen Prometheus yet. While the film is not the best in the Alien series, it does answer questions as well as make new ones about the Xenomorphs. I highly sugest this film for anyone who is a big fan of the Alien series. The reason I am sugesting this movie though is because in one of your past episodes (I forget which one) you mentioned Aliens in scene it. That film is one of my favorites and made me fall in love with the series.

I would say Kozintsev's 1964 Hamlet is the best one, but this has much to do with the black and white look and feel of it. It's quite reminiscent of Bergman's Seventh Seal.

You guys should check out the BBC version of Hamlet starring David Tennant (released sometime around 2009-2010)... it's certainly one of the most energetic (might even say Doctor-ish) versions of the character I've ever seen. It's tons of fun, even if it's not "perfect." I'd certainly recommend it to any fans of Tennant's run on Doctor Who out there as well!
