    I just had this problem. Didn't see this until I had bought JB Weld high temp that you cut off tube and knead together. Thinking being how hot the sun gets shining on the area in th heat of summer. It being winter now we're going to see how it works. Quick set may be something I add to spots to hold outer trim in place while high temp cures.

    • @ArcticVette
      @ArcticVette  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I didn't think to use a high temp but that's a good idea! Here in Kansas we hit 110, and below zero. So far it's still holding on strong. Let us know how yours does 🙌🏼

      Right in the grille. I pulled on e lane, but they kept going. What if that had been a cyclist? Ford needs their a$$ spanked for not addressing this issue. I mean it's an on going thing with the rear linkage of these Gen. V, ( I think? 2015 with 75000 miles).

    • @ArcticVette
      @ArcticVette  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Dang! You're right though I wish they'd address it. They addressed the roof rail covers, and the fix was to glue them on. So they already know what would fix all these other plastic covers. They just need to send out the recall.
      The rear toe links, those recalls are fun..only been in twice for the same thing.

    mine flew off on my ford flex yesterday, made a loud popping noise, problem is how do you replace the windshield if you ever need to? and guess what the one that flew off was the one someone used some sort of apoxy/glue, i think the heat/moisture, but i do agree, these things should never fly off.

    • @ArcticVette
      @ArcticVette  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Here in Kansas we get it all, heat, cold, and so far mine have held on really well.
      If I need a windshield those covers have to be replaced, so we'll just break them off. I'm not too sure if the flex is the same way but it very well could be.

    Ford quoted me $1200 for the a pillars and the 2 front weatherstrips for the door. Found them on rock auto as a full kit and the door seals on amazon for $35 each(amazon was literally the only place i could find them). Bought the a pillars because the weathershrip was hanging half way off and beating on my mirror and passenger window and ive heard the plastic caps tend to break when removing. Got the new ones installed exactly as i was supposed to..the next day going 75mph on the interested it snapped completely in half. First explorer and my last ford. Always have bumper, door or seal issues on fords. The thing about rock auto is.. customer service is online messaging(..figures) and they wont warranty it until i send back to exchange the part or buy it and return later. I dont want to spend another $200 for a partial piece to one side. How hard would you say this would be to remove in case of a need to replace seals? Is the jb weld going to impact the future replacement spots of a new one? Tia!!

    • @ArcticVette
      @ArcticVette  ปีที่แล้ว

      Using jb weld will make it difficult to remove. Since I've done this to my explorer I haven't had another one fly off, or have a seal coming loose.
      I did have one corner begin to lift up so I added more jb weld to it and now it's holding good again.

The passenger side vertical window trim came off last week in a car wash, $50 for that piece of plastic! I'm definitely going to use some epoxy putting it on, and I will add some to that front window trim. I'm worried I will break it if I try to remove it so maybe I'll try to squeeze some under the edges? Or is there a way to remove it cleanly? Thanks for the tip!

    Sounds like a good fix until your panoramic sunroof drains gets clogged (because that’s where they drain) & you need to remove them to get them unclogged. Either way your gonna have to buy a new set & they only cost $180 for driver & passenger side. I do agree that it’s a design flaw by Ford because they’re to cheap to design something better. I know this because I have had to have my sunroof motor replaced twice due to the drains getting clogged.
