    • @paynevess8822
      @paynevess8822 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Ehh, seem like Coach Marvin is talking more about arm and shoulder alignment rather than just distance. Sure, having bad alignment can screw with your total reach, but this seems like more of having the advantage in positioning and target acquirement, rather than just flat reach. Even if you are in range to hit, it won't mean much if you accidently hit 2 inches to the dudes left or right because your feet and shoulders couldn't keep up with your punch, or vice versa.

    Marvin is truly THE master mind. Big number of instructors say the right things but still leave it vague. Marvin's way unfolding what he is teaching is an art form by itself. Love the fact that anything what he teaches is connected with everything. All starting from true boxing stance and every new lesson is still related with that. You are the man Marvin!

    This is a great way to explain the jab. For me I noticed that my defense changed immediately. I can’t just do some of the dynamic movements I’m use to getting away with, I’m forced to reset my self. I realize this is sort of new movement for me so this is to be expected but this explanation in practice feels balanced and the rotational component to the jab, cross feels a bit more fluid. In all honesty I have a great coach but he encourages me to learn as much as possible from solid sources. Thank you 🙏 for sharing, greatly appreciated.

    Not forget to have your front foot pointing sideways rather than towards your opponent as the couch did during the exercise because you always want to be easily pushed off balance - the back foot needs to be right behind your front foot because you want to be pushed off balance! What a magnificent drill and coaching!

      So, we actually do fire rifle from the squared up stance.
      The proper stance (in real world war fighting) is to engage a target with a rifle is basically squared with a non-dominant leg slightly back. Rifle supported with dominant shoulder
      I get his point, but his rifle analogy was flawed.

    • @MassAmorphous
      @MassAmorphous 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@marcoglara2012 Agreed. If you don't take it too literally though the imagery helps to remember the stance he's teaching IMO. Additionally, most people aren't in the military, nor own rifles, so they won't know the difference anyway 😂
