Marvin should never have to ask for a thumbs-up.... i haven't seen a video that wasn't useful from him. He is hands down the most scientific approach.
The intro 😂
Editors fault he kept it 😂
@@TrueBoxerStance I want more Ken Shiro plz, subscribed tho. Keep the good work going my man ❤
this channel is evolving into a superior life form
@@TrueBoxerStance your editor is amazing lol. loving these new videos, keep em comin
@@TrueBoxerStance Where do you teach boxing?
Bro you are suddenly on a roll, what a comeback you made on TH-cam
The prophecy had been foretold, Marvin to rise again in the year 2020 😂
You KOed my ears with that intro champ
This editing is gold 😂👏
“StOP thAT! “ 🛑 🥊🤣
Epico intro 😎
Former Olympic coach Carlos Duncan taught me to throw it short and tight. A Mexican coach in California taught me to throw out long and scooping for more power.
Instead of saying one way is wrong or the other way is right I use both depending on the situation at that point in time.
You are absolutely tight. Mayweather uses all sorts of uppercuts from all imaginable positions and postures)
This stuff makes sense. I actually tried doing skating just to get a feel of properly shifting weights on my feet. After a month of practicing, it's much easier to look for angles to punch since the movement is more fluid.
Not even 2 years back and almost at 150k subscribers, it's because you have SUPERIOR CONTENT. This is my favorite video.
Much appreciated Ant 🙏
@@TrueBoxerStance hey man I'm only speaking the FACTS y'all my favorite channel
Been watching for two years or so and it’s crazy to see you come back. You’re easily one of the best and I’m so glad to see that everyone loves you!! Makes me happy to see this channel grow
When the ring interviewers ask who helped me win my title I'mma shout u out bro cause you've taught me alot throughout quarantine thank you so much
Do you even age coach? You look the same just like 8 years ago. 😂
Haha thanks Ethan 😂
@@TrueBoxerStance special diet?

I think white person will age more significantly than other races.(visually)
P.S. no offense

At this point, it makes sense to examine this man's content in reference to a product. In which order should his content be viewed? What are the recommended deliverables at a stage before adding the next part, etc.?
Clearly he has the goods when it comes to conveyance through this medium (no small feat, considering the hundreds I've reviewed since the 80s). This is a man in search of the proper vehicle. Frankly, he is too good not to go to the next level, and has the viewership to justify the transition. I should like to discuss it with him, should he approve the idea.
So glad you mentioned skateboarding, some of your tips have helped me so much with that as well believe it or not, any sport that requires balance really all is in the hips.
I love how quickly and smoothly he rebounds back into stance and snaps that jab out after anything he demonstrates, such a good default to drill back to
Watching your videos has brought so much fluidity. TBS is where it’s at!! Loving the editing too. Good to have you back MC
I always likened describing the upper cut like shoveling snow. Thank you for the explanation.
Your videos on each punch are the most informative and detailed online. Please keep them coming you helped me a lot!
This boxing channel is one of my all time favorites and I still go back to it from time to time , I know if you get into reels and shorts it would definitely be a game changer and result in more exposure subscribers and impact on people
The intro was hilarious, HUGE LIKED before watching past the first 15 seconds
I've definitely been making that mistake of leaning using my shoulders to generate that power and will definitely correct that with the proper body mechanics ASAP. Thanks Coach 👍🏾 Your knowledge is Gold
This is a great video. The beginning is just ok but as he gets going, he really teaches the subject really, really well!
Thank you, sir!
I appreciate the way you explain everything so thoroughly and even just after 1 sparring sesh I literally feel so much more comfortable behind my jab. thank you thank you thank you
Glad to hear you’re applying it and finding success 🙏 keep us in tuned with your progress Blaine
Wish you were here in the SF Bay Area. I would 100 percent sign up with your class!!
Great breakdown. And I learned something helpful for snowboarding and other sports. Moving the feet not the shoulders. What a great detail.
marvin after every serious sentence: -“smiling ok:)”
That long uppercut was used by Lenox Lewis. The logic is simple, you protect the sides of your chin but not the middle. That long uppercut lands well on that middle.
Something that helps me conceptualize the movement aspects of the TBS is Military Drill. They turn at 45, 90, and 180 degrees on a dime all with feet and hip movement. It isn't a 1:1 match but it definitely helps.
Dope video. Thank you for the explanation and demonstration. Ken and Ryu has been throwing the uppercut wrong since the 90s lol
That example you gave about lifting an object just blew my mind!
Simple but very effective.
I can throw a decent uppercut with my right hand but the lead one always feels kinda stiff and weak and i hope this train of thought helps me improve.
Oh my, rollerblading, ice skating. It all just came together.
Sir your insight and knowledge are one thing, but this... this is super entretaining as well!!! Love your stuff, susucribed and learning!!!
Glad you enjoyed it 😂 wasn’t my idea though, I don’t edit them 😂
Lucky that i found u sir! Tnx for ur lesson. It was really usuful for me!!
I really dig true boxer stance way of fighting, and these in depth vids about throwing other punches are fantastic. I'm glad you're back!
Andre Berto's uppercuts are textbook form just as described by Coach Marvin Cook. Very beautiful.
COMPLETELY UNEXPECTED INTRO AND I LOVE IT
What a great teacher - thanks so much. Blessings from California!
Everything that he says makes a lot of sense the best boxing channel on TH-cam
STOP THAT 😆
Nice touch with the anime graphics edited in, that was funny, you're getting pretty slick at this 👍good lesson and great detailed explanation as ever, thanks
Your style is a great one. I’ve been working on blending it with my Muay Thai And karate background. I’ve been able to flow between the three pretty seamlessly but I want to hybridize them. Like a “true kickboxing stance”- if you will. I’ve just had to take your concepts and apply to kicks as well. My sparring partner was not expecting that shit lol. Thanks Marvin! You are a excellent teacher!
It's been a year man, how's the style goin'?
Wow this video (along with many of his other videos) is so detail oriented and every word and example is constructive and useful. 4 thumbs up. (My hands and toes)😁
We’re gonna need more limbs here! Thank you 🙏
The maturing of your edits are most gratifying 😂😂😂😂😂🤙🏾✨
I KNOW THIS VIDEO IS ABOUT THE UPPERCUT, BUT I JUST HAD 2 SAY THAT THIS MAN'S FOOTWORK IS SICKENING!! I ENJOY ALL YOUR CONTENT MR.COOK, BOTH YOUR OLD STUFF FROM LIKE "2010-ish" AND YOUR NEW STUFF PRESENT DAY!! 🧠💪🥊💪💪
Do ur thing & let the goofy 1s hate. I've learnt alot from u and uve made ma hand game an excellent 1.💪💪
RIGHT? Me too I can move so fluidly as I jab and my rear straight is dynamite
@@MrKeepnit100 YESSIR the movement while jabbing is perfect 👌
@@TMIMM Oh and dude I was alone at work last night and obsessively practiced this lead uppercut technique, it works great after a jab. I figured out the key to his punches is the footwork, you make sure the position and form is correct, the punch will be found.
If it works for you it works I guess, but the criticism is warranted because there is a better way
Please show us with mitts in the future,
Your boxing style is special, watched all your vids.
We got a video coming out soon with mittwork with one of my True Boxer Stance beginners (I don’t get much time to film these days)
Your content is always fire!!! You explain boxing in a way that always makes sense. Looking forward to more videos Marvin!
One of the best on TH-cam by far. Thank you for all that you share!
Of course James, much appreciated and thanks for your comment.🙏
Thanks again for the great content coach!
Always glad to see your support in the comments 🙏 hope all is well
Seriously the best coach out there!Won my first bout just by watching coach marvins videos.Honesly I think Marvin should be a hall of famer coach ❤️
Wow I’m glad to hear that Ilya, congrats on the win 🙏 keep piling up those Ws 💪
Starting to learn how important it is to workout the lead shoulder. First thing to get tired and end the session lol
fantastic vid, subbed after I saw the lead hook vid but this just reinforces my decision
I like how he explains evrything so well to understand
Love the simplicity of it all.... also came for boxing lessons but now I know how to skate. :P
phenomenal coaching and technique....wow
Thank you for the great info , I got to get one of those Anchor Buoy, to work on my upper cut , thanks again
Thank you so much for this video! I've been struggling with my uppercut for a while and this explanation makes so much sense that I'm confident I'm able to throw a decent one now!
Hello mr Marvin, will there be a video about long guard (like klitschko)?
that intro, this man is cultured
Great teacher much respect 👍👍
I'd suggest a sparring video to showcase the true boxer stance in action. That'd be cool to see.
The “STOP THAT!” Cracks me up 😂
Love this Channel. Best wishes From Germany Coach.
Marvin is the Jeff Cavalier of Boxing videos
Your technique breakdowns are top notch.
Marvin, love your chanel and knowledge that you are sharing, BUT there is a reason to "load up" on the uppercut or hook - its called "muscle stretch reflex" which provides a large amount of additional power when punching. Its the same power generation when stretching the muscles after for example right straight to generate more power on the comeback left hook - same principle. Your method is faster, safer and harder to see though.
He’s not saying that it produces less force. He’s saying it’s an unnecessary trade off to add almost double the commitment to a motion for maybe 10% gain in power, if even.
On top of that, this whole system is designed around attacking and manipulating your opponent at their weakest positions. You catch an opponent in a position that they have no balance from, doesn’t matter how hard your load up.
It’s a very Jiu Jitsu-esque approach in that positional advantage is what dictates your effectiveness, not how hard you attempt a kimura (or a punch in boxing).
In fact, this is the most Sun Tzu form of boxing.
@@K2ThaPhukkinC beautifully said
I caught on to this from studying tyson fighting with his version of the peek a boo style, thanks for this vid big dawg.
"Stop that!!" 😂😂😂 great video as usual Marvin. Thanks
😂 always great to see your comments Tiko 🙏
Thanks for the video coach it seemed like the editing is getting better every day.
And is it any way you can get a video on dealing with kicks I know you talked about in the old video about like to see more flushed out video on dealing with kicking
Thanks, the editor only started when we started shooting.
We’ll get there for sure, definitely some bases we have to cover first. There are some topics I’d rather not touch and allow others to fill the void themselves. There’s some great resources on here. In time I’ll drops my thoughts when it’s appropriate.
Thanks for the comment and suggestion Notorious 🙏
@@TrueBoxerStance thanks for the reply
Do you feel the same way about a southpaws lead uppercut? As a southpaw I love how the rear uppercut feels.
You're the man.
Loving ur videos and education Marvin, greetings from Croatia! Keep it up
Several variations of the uppercut good video
Great well of knowledge. Thanks for the video mate.
Channel getting that bread.
New Video Editing ! ! !
His videos has gotten better and more entertaining
Several great cues in this one. Solid stuff.
Love the animations on this video. 🤣🤣🤣
But yes all the instruction on this video as far as that uppercut it totally correct......
For some reason, Mike Tyson's uppercut comes to mind watching this video and he did it several times to devastating effect EXACTLY how you said it's wrong to do it!
I think beyond biomechanics, which I believe you've explained perfectly, it's also a matter of style... Maybe. I dunno. I may be wrong.
He did I was just about to comment this
I was told not to throw a lead uppercut unless your opponents head is actually down. I was probably lied to. I've been lied to my whole life. This video makes sense too because you're bending your knees and it's causing you to not leave yourself open. If thrown properly yes I can now agree with this video.
These videos are great. Thanks for sharing them, Marvin.
Excellent content. Spot on with the uppercut.
I can binge whatch these all day. Thx marvin
Thanks Chris I appreciate it 🙏
Videos getting more and more entertaining
Good to see another video,I did ask for the uppercut one 👍,this is such a great punch,it’s the lunch I’ve been hit with the most over the years and it sucks lol,me personally I love to use that corkscrew uppercut as a southpaw, like Prince naseem hamed, and Conor McGregor used a lot,and sets up the straight left afterwards great combo !!,
Greatness, Idk who you have editing your videos but keep them. It's brilliant LOL.
I have an amateur MMA guy as one of my teammates and he always gets me in sparring with that "long uppercut" or whatever it's called, it's surprisingly very sneaky, but he also has super long arms to keep his distance.
Thanks for upload Mr Cook. Great similes, too! They really drive the points home.
I’m full of them 😂 thanks BJ 🙏
If I had Marvin as my boxing coach I’ll would be a world champion
Once again another gem 💎
Much appreciated Rhythm 👌
@@TrueBoxerStance So could you throw a rear uppercut using the same footwork for your rear straight? Oh and whats the footwork on the lead hook?
But, razor ruddock and juan manuel marquez used the left long upercut right before and overhand right.
Man what the intro! 😂😂😂😂😂thank you always coach
Great instruction, what about Mike tyson's slipping and then throwing uppercut?
Thank you so much for all you do Marvin!!
Your editor is the goat lmao
Love the editing
My editors a little crazy
I’m waiting for the “ where’s the spar videos Marvin this is sooo not legit” commentators lmao.
They’ll be here soon.
I managed to find some old footage of Marvin sparring with random fighters/boxers uploaded by random youtubers years ago. Based on what i saw from the footage. they couldn't land clean shots on him. He's very evasive
Do you have any links to the videos because I cannot find anything.
Great video coach. Much respect.. but I would have liked to see you throw it on a bag/mitts to get a better understanding and/or talk about set ups for that punch.. just a suggestion. Thanks again🙏
