Watched this on my tv and came over to my phone just to write that I’ve been researching this product for two weeks and I’ve been waiting for this video! Perfectly explained all the different variants and the pros and cons of each! Thank you so much man!
@ it was between the oled the 57 inch odyssey neo and the oled. I ended up liking the higher pixel count and mini led with deeper curve over the oled screen
got rid of my original G9 for a QD OLED aw3423dwf, super ultrawide is very very much a niche product and only people who have an actual usecase for so much screenestate should get this, a lot of times as a gamer you will run into situations where cutscenes are stretched to fill out the screen width, so you will miss out on actual details top and bottom, same goes for some HUDs or character screens being distorted many games just dont support this aspect ratio what so ever, sometimes you will have to apply some widescreen hacks, sometimes you wont find a solution what so ever
True I agree with you on that. It’s a niche product and most often than not people who get them the main reason is for gaming and again, like you said most games don’t support the 32:9 aspect ratio. In saying that, I find it really good for productivity with the ability to have multiple windows open while chipping away at whatever tasks you have
I have been using the G95SC version for a few weeks now along with the LG Dual Up display on the left side of it. Perfect for daily productivity. Having "Fancy Zones" software for windows management also helps (I have the screen divided into 4 windows most of the time). One thing that made me decide on this model was the Nvida G-Sync compatibility out of the box (actuall printed on the stand). Gaming is, of course, exceptional.
The video I was looking for. I am from Australia too and looking into 57 inch neo. Did you buy yours directly from Samsung? Also keen on your table and chair.
Yes I got it directly from Samsung. My desktop is the hardwood walnut from desky also an Australian company and my chair is the Eames office chair from temple and Webster
Good Video, I liked the visualization! Only thing that I'd like you to improve is your microphone quality. It isn't easy to clearly understand what you're saying at times. Keep it up.
I like the Oled due to it's slim design, glossy panel, less aggressive curve and of course for being an oled. But the biggest obstacle for me is the burn in, i'm not the type of person that upgrades their monitor every two or three years especially if it's an expensive monitor. I've been using my Asus PG279Q since 2016 (almost 8 years) and it still works flawlessly. I'm settled on getting the neo g9, i saw the neo and oled in person and my worry is that the 1000R curve on the neo might be too much for me. It's such a shame, i really want the OLED for many reasons but i just can't see myself babysitting a monitor by adding live wallpaper, auto hide taskbar etc and even with all that being done, the games i play have a static UI, it is destined to burn in eventually.
I’ve been using the 49 inch Neo G9 for about two years now and don’t mind the 1000R curvature. I feel as though it’s the sweet spot with slightly better features than the original G9 and some of the features the OLED and 57 inch G9 have. As for the OLED like you mentioned my biggest worry would be burn in.
@tankspl7 live wallpapers make it more interactive and the fact that the screen is mini-LED the likelihood of suffering burn in is next to zero. Unlike the OLED G9 which is more susceptible to burn in due to the OLED SCREEN
What is Samsung doing with this super confusing lineup. This is the only video that's helped me catch up with exactly what they've been doing. So the new ones are G95C (VA) and G9 OLED (...OLED) and G9 NEO (but it's the 57" one)
i would like your opinion. Samsung updated the standard Odyssey G9, characterized by the back being black and display port 2.1, and rated for HDR1000. Is the older Neo G9 still a better choice? I am using it for a sim rig Both are similar price right now
I’ve had a look at their spec sheets the 49 inch Neo G9 beats the updated standard G9 by just a hair. I don’t see the need for you to get the updated standard G9
The Odyssey OLED is the one that’s slightly different. The 49 and 57 inch Neo G9’s are similar in most areas and the differences are not day and night apart from a few like better motion handling at higher refresh rates and a display port 2.1 up from 1.4 in the 49 in Neo G9 etc

I haven’t had any text clarity issues with the 49” Neo G9 and having tested the 57” version as well, it’s slightly better than the 49” when it comes to text clarity
hopefully I dont have any defects to this monitor. Bought the neo g9 49', and it'll come here in a few days. Worried about the panel popping out, or dead pixels, etc.
So once you calibrate the Neo a bit is it good enough compared to the OLED? I have the OLED right now and love the colors and picture but want a more aggressive curve and worry about burn in long term.. so really thinking about returning it before the return period expires
Being an OLED it would still be better when it comes to colour accuracy but like you said OLEDs are susceptible to burn-in in the long run. A dialled in Neo G9 would give you the aggressive curve you want plus good colours for content consumption, basic editing although I wouldn’t recommend it for professional photography work
