Why don't I see crimes in China? Why don't I ever see people getting arrested in China? or ever see Police abuse like in the west? When you think of countries with low crime rates, places like Japan or Singapore might come to mind. But China, a country with over a billion people, is often overlooked despite having some of the lowest crime rates in the world. The importance of community and social harmony is deeply ingrained in the culture (Family values, respecting the elders). This cultural emphasis on collective well-being contributes significantly to the country's low crime rate. www.youtube.com/@ChrisHereToday

China haters want us to judge Chinese people by their tourists. Lots of videos uploaded of supposed "uncivilized" Chinese Tourists. Many fakes, staged. Why judge the tourists. Why not judge them in their OWN country. If you visit a city like Shenzhen, you can see in a day tens of thousands people and see if they are really uncivilized. Compare them to people living in New York, Rome or Paris. Find if in Shenzhen you are likely to be robbed by a pickpocket

Your view from a foreigner in China is accurate. China is one big family civilization, cultivated and shaped by over 2,000 years of Confucius's Teachings. Westerners will find it hard to understand and their leaders still refuse to accept Mutual Respect as proposed by the Chinese leaders

The Confusions China was quite bad and unsafe during the 2000 years before Communist China, it is the communists who got rid of crimes and poverty. Some accuse Mao's China was poor and backward but they should learn how China had been before Mao took control, communist China was all by itself without outside help due to sanctions by the USA and the West, despite that, Mao's China was way better than democratic Hindia.

The politicians in the West keep discrediting China because they don't want their people to know how bad these Western countries are. These Western countries' governments never care about the livelihood of their people. They take every chance to make money for their interested parties (weapons manufacturers, flight companies, drug dealers, etc.) and themselves. We must know that this is their ultimate goal. Democracy in the West has become a money-making system for the politicians and the interested parties behind them in the past decades. They don't invest money to improve the lives of their people. On the contrary, the Chinese government invested a lot of money to improve the infrastructure, technology, living environment, public order, and leisure areas to improve the lives of its people. The facts about China shock us because we encounter things differently in Western countries.

In the West, stories of criminal minds have been often lauded and gangs have been even praised for their "wittiness" and "cleverness" in defying the law. For example, from an early age, the exploits of "Robin Hood" has been regarded as praiseworthy in robbing from the rich. Moving further on, while those were mere stories, in actual historical events, English pirates have been admired and some have even been knighted by the English crown.
Any nation that has been built on thievery and robbing from others such as the conquering and colonising of other lands and the enslavement of other people to make their fortune cannot develop any sense of moral fibre and integrity within its soul and its own people, despite the introduction of Christianity which has often been used as a tool of exploitation than in the enrichment of one's soul.
In short, the evil seeds of dishonest living have been implanted in Western civilization a long time ago and have been simply allowed to grow through the ages to this very day.
Nothing is more exemplified than by the example set for the world to see in the United States of America where it has been said that - "America is the only country that went from barbarism to decadence without knowing civilization."

The West always uses differences in values to put a veneer of respectability on its aggression, plunder, and killing. To truly understand the Han Chinese and the Chinese nation, one must understand Chinese philosophy, the idea of moderation, and not force things. Love: We should love our elders and children as we love our own. Inclusiveness: In the long history of four thousand years, all ethnic groups that have entered China have been integrated into the Chinese nation. We exchange what we don't have, not plunder. We are willing to share what we have with the world. If there are many, be extravagant; if there are few, be frugal. In fact, regardless of skin color or race, we are all human beings, just like the different ethnic groups of the Chinese nation. We should be one family.

Think you need to update some of your information sources. For eg, the huge surge in retail crime in the US (primary the Blue states) is precisely because they do NOT punish the criminals at all - if the value of the stolen items is below, say, US $1,000, the criminals won't even be charged. In fact, I have read and seen online that the retail staff will be charged if they somehow stopped the criminals from looting and stealing! How crazy is that?

It's very straightforward. In the West, we prioritize personal freedom. We are taught that we are free to do anything, go anywhere, and we often leave out the caveat: "do anything that doe not infringe on the rights and well being of others". We just focus on freedom, but not responsibility. In China, ethics is a real word. Morals is not a joke. And although we value freedom, we balance it with a sense of social responsibility. If I take what is not mine, I win, but someone loses. This very sense of being knit into the fabric of a community where everyone lives together and works together is the underlying net that persuades people not to follow their greedy and selfish thoughts. Then, over all of this, is the fact that China has very pervasive CCTV cameras everywhere. You commit a crime? Chances are the police will find you. They can track you from store to store, from street to street, and they already know who you are and where you live because they have advanced face recognition. People in the West will gasp and screech: "Such an invasion of privacy!!!". But why? What's so private about our lives that it must be hidden? I get up, commute to work, come home, and on the way home I pick up some fast food. The government sees all that. But so what? I have nothing to hide. If I wanted to rob a store or make some homemade pipe bombs, the CCTVs are a GREAT inconvenience. But if you are not a criminal, and you don't want to commit criminal acts, the CCTV cameras mean nothing. No one follows you. You are not interfered with in any way. Just go about your business. Shop where you want, buy what you want, eat what you want. That's what most Chinese want to do anyway. They don't think about the political system of other countries on the other side of the world. It is not their business. They just want to live peacefully, take care of their family, and hopefully prosper more and more as time goes on.

Your comment 5:00 or so get to the point. Yes, China's low crime rate is based on education and culture with family value focus. People try to live in a harmony manner, and people respect each other as individual. Which to me is true freedom. Those camera function are not mainly for "watching you" or to "control you". they helps to make the sociality safer or keep track of criminal activities (if any pops up).
China do have crime, but the rate is very very low.
also, Chinese we learn our history lesson. British raise the opium war with China in 1800s so they can sell drug to Chinese. China spend year's to bring the country back to the norm. There will be no way to let China government to allow Drug (or alike) in the society. This (drug issue) is not about personal freedom but for live or death of a society.

Random crimes such as theft or robbery come at a high cost. Firstly, at every intersection, there are surveillance cameras that can track your escape. Secondly, digital payment has completely replaced cash transactions, with only foreign visitors and elderly villagers still using cash. Thirdly, cellphones all have anti-theft measures; unlocking them requires specialized skills, and even professionals prefer to avoid the trouble of seeing police at the door. Unconfirmed, AI is used in fighting crime, and not just policing, one good example is catching tax fraud.

USA is also implementing new rules to combat crimes, for example ... if anyone who caught shoplifting or shop robbery which loot is below $900 shall not be considered as a crime, these naughty people (cannot be labelled as criminal) shall be charged under misdemeanour. (Some may argue misdememeanor is a crime but i dont think in the US crime index, middememeanor are considered as crime).
As the 2nd part, due to US freedom to bear arms ... because of it, almost every household do hv at least one firearm, which the owners use it to protect their homes from robbers ... if without guns ... the crime rate might double the fold.

I totally agree with you that one of the reasons for China's low crime rate is its community spirit. The Chinese words for "country " is 國家 with the first word which literally means country comes first, the second word means family. We all place our country above everything else, n families are an integral part of our country. We may all be strangers but we're all part of this big family China! As such, we have a duty to look after our country n each other. Also, we're brought up with a strong sense of self esteem n self respect. We're not supposed to do anything to bring shame on ourselves, our loved ones or our country! To live without any fear of safety has now become a luxury in the West. The way I see it, this is the greatest violation of human rights n freedom! Thanks so much for bringing up this topic! I hope the West could start waking up n do things which really benefit themselves n the world instead of smearing China n bringing hatred n confrontation n chaos to the world! Love from Hongkong China !
