As for my thoughts on the dungeon - I think aesthetically and mechanics-wise, it's one of the most interesting and the best so far. The swimming, while used only a little bit, adds a breath of fresh air to the gameplay. The mechanics themselves are kind of basic, but interesting enough compared to just shooting fuses. With that being said, both bosses have far too much health for regular solo runs. I thought it was terrible after my first clear, although the second clear it wasn't AS bad. But the final boss in particular, because you spend such a large portion of time just getting to the DPS phase, it's painful having to have to repeat it so many times (depending on your setup). It was bad enough in Spire, but the busywork there was relatively short, and the many DPS phases weren't as annoying. In here, it's a massive timesink, which becomes a little tiresome. So I think for the majority of people, the boss health will be a deterrent.
As I've also said in the past, I'd really love to see a dungeon where the boss was able to be damaged the entire time, but you had to multi-task mechanics. The same formula for every single dungeon of "do busywork, remove boss immune, start DPS phase, repeat x amount of times" has become a little stale, so I'd like to see it mixed up.

I think my only negative comment on this dungeon is that the bosses health (mainly final) have a HUGE healthpool and for the time you spent setting dps up I feel like its too much for too little.
Yeah esoterickk pointed that out in the description which means people are gonna have a pretty rough time trying to beat this solo
It also has crap weapons except for the exotic. The rocket is outclassed by hothead and apex predator. The GL is outclassed by forbearance (sure, it's the only kinetic-slot GL but the rolls are trash). Glaive is a glaive, nothing too special about it. The only good weapon is the SMG - it seems like a solar version of immortal.
I think the health pools are only high for solo runs. For team runs it’s perfect. Plus I think a hard solo is a good thing. After Strats are developed the solo will get a lot easier but it won’t be as easy as dungeons like pit, spire, and shattered throne.

@@gasad01374 Not really its free woven mail. Think about it in pvp, just use a pulse or hand cannon and keep this trace rifle in your back pocket for on demand damage resist.

It happend to me yesterday. I forgot to destroy the ghost and she revived with like 2-5 centimeters of health. Had to do the whole rotation thing again

Glad to see a solo flawless run isnt gonna take 3 hours, but not thrilled that half of this video is the final boss.

The Harpy in Spire of the watcher was more tanky for me and those Explosives shanks at final boss are a nightmare compared to this.

I agree with the health bar thing but all dungeons have simple mechanics.. I think the final boss of this one is the most complex dungeon encounter right next to galhran and maybe caiatl tbh

What's crazy about this Dungeon isn't just the lore, it shows the desperation on the Lucent Hive's end to be willing to attempt to resurrect Oryx to lead them since Savathun has chosen to remain dead just because she's saying "Screw you" to the universe as we know it, and Immaru is lord knows where. Imagine how much more dangerous he would be as a Lightbearer Hive.

Oryx would join us given how much he respected us in the end and what he would learn about the Witness. Him, Xivu and Savatahun were all tricked and manipulated so as a 'guardian' they have no reason to follow the sword logic.
Oryx probably wouldnt want to be a Lucent hive. The armor sets say that he is still capable of absorbing knowledge so he is still there he just cant speak and has been absorbing the knowledge Xivu has been saying to him, as she has been going to his grave and grieving over his death.
Savathun didn't choose to remain dead lol. Vanguard has her corpse locked up tight so that Immaru can't get to her, because unless a Lightbearer is completely vaporized, you need to be in the proximity of the corpse to resurrect them.
I'm surprised they didn't revisit how they handled Savathun's damage phase. Get 1 stack of buff for chip damage, 2 stacks for low damage, 3 stack for strong damage that runs out after time. If they're going to keep the boss in the arena the entire time to harass you, they might as well allow you to do the same. That way they can have their 14 million health pool, and a way to NOT make it tedious.
Also, Bungie must really be proud of themselves for those Hive Runes. They're still coming up with puzzles built around them.
I mean, that's also Dul Incaru's fight from Shattered Throne, I don't think they'd want two final bosses to have such a similar mechanic.
@Barbecue 101 but the process to get to that point is different. Incaru and savathun required you to kill marked enemies. They could have it be plates, dunks, stacks of pick ups, relics, etc, like how damage phases usually trigger.

@@clembra1 more. more health. more health than both of the bosses from Root of Nightmares in fact, as Explicator has 13.5 and nezarec has 12. although TO BE FAIR i really think both bosses should have 20m(explicator and 15m(nezarec) respectively but that's just me.
The boss does not have 14mil hp.
I honestly think they should scale the health bar based on the number of players.

No I don't think they should because then what's the point of a solo flawless. You completed a activity meant for 3 players solo if they made the health scale by the amount of players then I wouldn't see a difference from doing it with 2 other players
@@Xpozc then put a diferent node for solo flawless, where it doesn't scale with player count. But the normal version should scale so people can do it solo consistently.
Even does the diving to the bottom like 100x more smooth than I could.

I'm more concerned with the underwater sections, especially for a solo flawless run.
@@cjp8155 can tell you, the underwater Sections are not at all difficult solo. What i don't like is the overflowing amount of ads during a damage phase and the insane boss health. Where other bosses died at 6 mil damage, the first boss, for example, needs well over 16 MILLION Damage to die. And getting shot by 20 ads doesnt make this easier.
Also, the fact that those moths will sometimes chase you and take away a third of your health while you are in battle is kind of stupid.
I am still at the first boss and will attempt the rest later, but honestly? So far my worst solo dungeon experience. You are just in a constant rush and stress all the time, where other dungeons gave you some sort of a breather...
use arbalest to instantly break the shields on them but then you are stuck using arbalest in dps phase unless you quick swap which bungie has made it so that waste even more time by not allowing you to use your weapons right after swapping.

Me and my clanmates were talking about how this could be done solo. But all of us seemed to have folded at the final boss seeing how much health it has. Other than that it's a pretty cool dungeon.
Just got mine.
It took 144min and got to the 2nd boss in about 60min but I fucked up some Dmg phases and played safe since I didn't wanna do the the long underwater section anymore...
Overall pretty solid dungeon except the health bars and the tedious underwater section.
Just got done watching Aztecross and his team do the dungeon and thought what a nightmare this would be to Solo and then thought.... Bet Esoterickk done it already. Lo & Behold, here he is done and dusted, flawless no less. Gotta be best PvE player in Game.

He’s insane but from a console player’s perspective, mnk is what allowed this run on top of the skill. The binding of his powered melee vs his normal melee allowed him to decimate the health bar while in his face instead of 6 feet away
Chablo 91 is insane, cause different from these said "top players", he doesn't use META or obvious stuff.
Everyone is doing solar titan on this with the exactly the same build.
Chablo's always using the most ridiculous and non-expected / against the tide builds and weapons...and still solo flawless pretty much everything.

Arbalest with a bait and switch linear would probably work best for final boss. I think Arbi is able to 1 tap the sheild the bosses have so it could be the play.

Tried LFR was my run it was complete ass she moves too much and her head is really hard to see with all the arc bullshit and blinding light
Using arby got me almost 6m damage on the last boss while the other two were around 2-3m each.

I feel like the health was balanced around the old busted stuff like starfire for final boss. If we could still use that then the health pool would be justifiably large.
Even then that's ridiculous, you don't balance a bosses health around the most broken shit in the game.
And even with old Starfire good luck even hitting the Wizard with Witherhoard and sticking him with grenades.

Praying for a warlock video soon cause I have no idea what to use for dps. I can get through the mechanic for the first boss relatively quickly but when its time for damage, even from in a well, I feel like im hitting him with wet paper

A way to make the first boss even quicker is use a heavy ammo helmet, spawn at least 2 bricks of heavy near middle where he spawns, use the underwater air boost to pop you in and put waly you swap gear to go back to what your gonna use for encounter, for that overshield, once damage stars tractor cannon boss, gealing grenade hot swap to lament, and just burn through his health, of course when ypu use tour hammer to kill an add near boss to heal it will also give you an orb for solar weapon boost, then just slap the boss. But yeah, that final boss on solar flawless took forever. I ended up using tcrash, with thunderlord, bit their were a few close calls survivability wise

@@MexiMiioo what? He didn't finish her when he should have. He looked around and then by time he got to the ghost she rezzed. That's a mechanic and he made a mistake. The second time he went straight to the ghost and finished it. The original comment is harmless anyway Eso probably got excited and forgot for a second then by time he remembered it was too late. If he was one second sooner he would've been fine cause the ghost was still finishable right up until he got there. It's a mistake many will make but no worries at least she didn't rez back to full health.

Tip for final boss Eso, Arbalest 1 shots her shield. I normally run Arby and Cata and walk away w pretty good dmg. I then can farm heavy by swapping my secondary w a special weapon (Calus Mini -> Any special) so that heavy drops more. I ran Sunbracers and cleared tons of ads and got 15-19 ammo in my cata w max arby. Of course this is what I used for a solo ATTEMPT (haven’t beat solo flawless yet but got close). I died because I walked out from water into 3 moths. (Thanks bungo for allowing them to just wait there for me)

fyi, one two punch no longer works with throwing hammers or any melee that you can 'throw'

Seeing him just not get shredded by all the enemies in the first boss makes me really rethink my load outs. I had a hard time making it to DPS with devour
If you use solar warlock instead with sunbracers and phoenix dive, you can have near permanent uptime on restoration x2. You won't have as good DPS as Eso here, but good luck dying between DPS phases lol
Edit: I forgor not just warlock has easy access to devour anymore. If you aren't even using warlock, disregard
The dungeon was pretty fun but man the final boss health bar is huge. I got the exotic first try tho so not complaining to much

I really like this dungeon apart from the boss health. The first boss is already beefy in the health department. Took me about 30-40 minutes beating it first time. After almost the same amount of time on the last boss and only doing about 30-40% damage... I decided to stop my solo run and take a break. Haven't gone back since.

I totally agree the bosses have way too much health, especially for solo. When I got my first 2 clears, my team took almost a half hour to finally kill the boss with linears because half of us can't hit out f-ing shots with rockets, lol. Always love seeing the destiny god himself, esoterickk, making guardians jealous.
Amazing job, as usual. Is there a reason you only start DPS phase from the heart in the final encounter? I always just start wherever the last rune happens to be, so I'm just wondering if there's a benefit to starting it in the center
I'd guess that the heart area has basically the whole view of all the locations she could move to during dps, she in fact could also teleport on top of heart rather than the usual on the ground spot, bamboozled the hell out of my fireteam the first time she teleported there and made us waste a good 5s trying to find where she went.

Ability builds are fantastic as that lets you run double special and have 13 shots every damage phase

ive just quit out of my regular solo attempt, flawless up to 3rd is a breeze but i struggle consitently with 3rd. its doable but its a potential 8 phases of nonstop juggling surviving and mechanics/dps its easy to slip up
This dungeon was fucking great, it was my first day one clear of anything and my LFG teammates were awesome as well. Only thing that sucked was the boss health. I would love to do this solo as I barely died during the dungeon, but the boss health is just way too much. I don't want to do a potential 10+ phase.
Titan can 3-4 phase first boss pretty easily. Heard Xeno can do a 4 phase on last boss too but idk about that one

looks like all the bosses have insane health pools. Your bonk hammer was hitting 100k per on the first boss and it still was a 13 minute boss kill. Doing it on any other class that needs heavy/special ammo is gonna take so much longer.
