This E46 BMW 330ci ZHP coupe is a clean example of a somewhat underappreciated car. The ZHP package for the E46 3-Series featured 10 extra horsepower, M3-inspired suspension, a subtle body kit, unique wheels, and came in manual transmission only. This one has been modified with the help of a Vortech Centrifugal Supercharger system from ESS Tuning. - ยานยนต์และพาหนะ

I was surprised he did not rip the door handle off it that speed, the door cards are not infinitely strong.
Door handles aren't just attached to the cards, they tend to be anchored to the body of the door. Otherwise they'd break very easily.
18iser wind is travelling against the metal part of the door and actually trying to shut it, not to rip it that's why Matt did it, if you were reversing at that speed that would be a different story
Do BMW's not have a light on the dash or something that indicates that the door isn't shut all the way? You know, like my 1989 Camry had, and every other car I've driven since then.
BMW door cards are not really attached well at all in the e36/e46 the bottom part starts letting go very easily when the cars get older. Also I have closed a car door before from the inside and after that I still had the door handle in my hand not attached anymore. But that was not a BMW.
These cars seriously run forever if you take care of em, mine's from 05 and it still runs like a champ.

Back to cars... that the first thing that is awesome...and these models are eminently affordable by many so this is a really good for lots of people to see what you get from an older BMW.
M54B30 responds really well to forced induction, supercharging is preferable for a road car

got an 04 ZHP with 170k miles and I commute 60 miles a day with it, runs like a clock and its a joy to drive. Don't think I could justify a $8000 supercharger kit though
This is a good video for anyone with an e36 who slides it. 4 grand for the kit and install and 300 whp reliable, can't really beat that

I have an 01 330ci 5 speed. These cars are amazing and reliability isnt an issue if you love the car and take care of it.
had a 04 ZHP 6 speed. w all options. damn, i miss that thing everyday
i have an 06 Interlagos Blue M3 ZCP, and a e90 m3 ZCP. both of these are beasts of their own, but the ZHP was so Livable.
Atom VonD had the best of the best same thing black on black 6 speed it was totaled 4 months ago by a drunk driver 😔
Have you seen the values of them now? A clean e46 330 went for $26k on bring a trailer recently and it wasnt even low mileage. These cars were putting out WAY more than official figures suggested - easily over 250hp stock. 14 sec 1/4 mile is only slightly slower than an e92 335!

Man, the E46 is a timeless piece. LCI M Sports / M3 still look great after, what, 15 years?
M3 never had the facelift so to say that pre LCI M-Tech cars don't look great doesn't make sense.
I still have my E46 330xi, but I have to sell it soon since I just got a S3. I'm really gonna miss it, such a fantastic all around car.

Matt was really nice to this driver and his car, good for you Matt. I do kind of agree that the exhaust sounds more like a 4 cylinder engine than a inline 6. I owned a vr6 with a Borla exhaust a few years back and even that sounded beefier than this, still a nice car I wouldn't mind owning though so props to the driver on his nice BMW.

Rzr Stefan I don't get it... the e90 platform is better than the e46 is every way. I can understand if you showed distaste for the f30.
LegendInThaMakin it may be better but the only thing in my opinion who saved the E9X platform was the coupe..the E92..because when the e90 sedan came out it was so fucking ugly especially from the rear it was not even funny , plus big problems with the small 2.0 diesel engines..so the e9x platform eventually matured, fixed the issues , the sedan facelift actually looks good but i dont know it's still not as special as the e46 but it is probably more capable no doubt :)
Dude, after the e46 there were many good bmws... v10 m5, v10 m6, e92 m3, 1M, m135, 335i, 335d, 535d, 760i, m4, m5 f10, m6 gran coupe, m2
purely on looks the v10 m5 etc imho where to rounded if thats a thing..or bloated.. thats just taste perhaps but the boxier ones look cooler.

The last BMW 3-series i would buy. Even now these cars look really good, and they work out in the real world too. ..and thumbs up for this car in particular. Looks good, and is very tastefully modified.

That sounds too tinny for Borla.. all borlas are a beefy bassy sound.. kid prob has no idea what's on it, sounds like a cheap fiberglass thin metal exhaust

Nice video, thanks Matt. I really do wish we had some ZHP 330 examples available here. I'd buy on in a minute if it was a sound car. That looks like a really nice little car for the money. Goes to show that balance is just as, if not more important to all round driving pleasure than just mega urge. That, to me, looks like a car that sits nicely in the sports car category. I wonder if the brakes were stock?

Yeah. That's highly appropriate car modification. You are correct too. The s54 swap seems to be a little invasive. And maybe even a bit unnatural. You're making me think about doing it. That is a definite option. Although I have a 325i, that I just put an exhaust on. So I'm thinking about swapping the engine for a 330 engine. What are your thoughts internet?

I would like to get this kid on a wrecking ball. I have a E46, loved it until the reverse gear went. I am so tempted to buy a E46 vert, they are just beautiful. Perhaps if I find the right one, although I love my G37s. That engine in a E46 would be awesome.
I owned an E46 M3, and while no one will argue it was and still is a great car, I was never too fond of the sound. It is a unique high pitch raspy sound.
Check out my vid of the exhaust I had and it sounded similar to this. I upgraded to an E92 M3 a few years back and I still never get tired of hearing the wonderful rumble of the V8. Cool car nonetheless.
You change out the midpipe (to get rid of the rasp) and get an El Diablo Exhaust and the car sounds perfect. There you go! Problem solved. I have an E46 M3 Competition in Interlagos Blue. That sound of the S54 never gets old and turns heads everywhere I go.

The rasp of the exhaust on the fly-bys sucks. Thank goodness it sounds decent on the inside, but I'd still never put a Borla on a car.
Borla and headers can be a little raspy. The supercharger made it worse I believe.
I had a Borla dual on an 01 MX5, it was great.

My E46 330ci is now 17 years old with 223,000km. It goes like stink and doesn't have a single rattle. Maybe it's because it's 700lbs lighter than stock, has not a single piece of trim left other than the dash, and if half seam welded O:).
The poly bushings creak like hell though. Debating FI.... would be almost scary at 2700lbs with a 3.38 diff on the super tight country lanes around here...

Which is especially weird because you can get a good exhaust sound on those with stock exhaust and just a muffler delete and it sounds better than his exhaust

ZHP's are pretty rare I'm sure all his friends didn't have them! Probably a lot of 330's but the ZHP is pretty hard to find there not everywhere even back then.
They were not rare when they came out

@@startingtech3900 ZHP refers to the "ZHP" package that BMW offered on these cars. It consisted of a revised suspension, 18" wheels, a little more horsepower, a few styling upgrades, and some other stuff. Hope this helps!

I built a customers car with a procharger and intercooler with a solid 530bhp, on a forged bottom end, head /cams /intake all custom made. M3 box and lsd, 11s 1/4mile, sub 5s to 60 and total cost of 5k
I own a 2004 BMW Z4 3.0i with the sport package. The car feels quick and I wonder if I have the ZHP cams. A few guys told me I do. Any BMW guys here know? This is my first German car ever. I usually stick to Chevy LS cars. The only other convertible roadster I ever owned was a 2000 Honda S2000.
Your description is wrong, there definitely is a zhp in auto, it’s wrong to say they only came in manual.

I think people jump on the sound too much. With i6/v6/i4 engines, you really have to hear them in person to get the low notes that the camera can't pick up. You can't just hear a video and dictate if it sounds good or not

I wish we got E46 330ci ZHP's in Australia. I think there's some clubsport or m-optioned 330ci's but definitely not ZHP. They're a solid compromise for a poor man's M3.
Just take a 330 and throw in some Schrick cams and M3/upgraded suspension. Body kit if you want. It will be just as fast and cheaper than buying a ZHP.

Brian Vtec Hes using borla type exhaust usually a big no no for European cars. Usually for American muscle cars and crap ass v6 chargers. Doesn't work great on any European car
Unfortunately it appears all e46's with the Borla exhausts sound like this. Which sounds identical to my stock e46 330xi with a leaking catalytic converter
It's a Borla catback with bimmer brake headers. The headers cause the rattly, raspy sound that sounds bad. BMW I6's with a Borla by themselves sound good.
