Alec, I remember quite well B.J. and his brothers and their wives coming to my hometown church (Rich Hill Christian Church - Rich Hill, MO) and performing concerts at revivals when I was a kid back in the mid to late 70s. They'd have a merch table placed in back of the church and had some of their albums (like I said, it was the 1970s!) and other items for sale. Good memories - your family was quite nice and very talented. (I happen to be a musician myself, so their musicianship must have resonated with me - even at that early age!)
This is so nice to read! People descended from large families finding relatives they've never known before and connecting! I'm so happy for all of you and so excited!
What a wonderful surprise to see Johnny Carson on the panel! I like how they brought the family out in little groups. Less confusing than hitting us with them all at once. They look to be the model of love, stability, and family values- the complete opposite of today's reality shows.
That's my family, and they absolutely were all of those things. My grandfather is BJ Vernon, and I never knew a more kind, loving, and devout man in my life.
I’m a mother of 5 married children, all are Christian and involved In preaching, teaching and serving, the off-spring Grand , Great grand, and great great grand add up to 63, if I’ve counted them all.
Now there is some real singing. I have to say as am identical twin fraternal twins always throw me off where I know for the majority of people identical do lol. Seem like really nice people.
I was researching my aunt and found this. She is Patricia, wife of Bob Vernon. I wanted to find my cousins, Becky, was the little girl end. I think that was her brother Greg, in the middle. Wish I knew how to contact them. Anyone know their whereabouts? I'm Marcia Ragsdale Davis.
Note: they have 2 contestants and wonders of wonders...they have 2 chairs!!! Not like "What's my Line" that makes 2 people share the same chair! hahaha!!
This is a great segment with a wonderful message. Imagine if someone did the same thing today on a game show, the leftists would go absolutely out of their heads nuts and would demand the show be pullled from the air.
Some time during the seventies, the three main TV networks pulled all their shows that showed rural life or Christian families. It didn’t matter to the network management; they even canceled shows that were big money makers with high ratings from their nightly lineups. It would be interesting to learn why they were so intent upon canceling rural people in general, and it’s precisely like what government “management” is trying their best to do to us now.
Yep, that is mainly an older pronunciation. Very few people under 60 still pronounce it that way. My grandma still does but none of her children or grandchildren do.
This was a wonderful find, browsing TH-cam and finding my family. I'm the great grandson from B.J. and Lodi's children.
We might be family too then. I'm the Great Great Grandaughter of Dallas's Uncle Martin Vernon.

Tell us more! I'm so intrigued!

Odd seeing him before his hair turned gray.

Haha I wonder what the descendants really ended up like 😂
What a delightful episode
Need more of this in the world today.
OMYGOSH, the kids are just too sweet.
pervert
Wow; the first reality show!
When children - and adults dressed respectfully.
Nice to see a pregnant woman not in a skin tight outfit or showing her naked belly.
I’m a mother of 5 married children, all are Christian and involved In preaching, teaching and serving, the off-spring Grand , Great grand, and great great grand add up to 63, if I’ve counted them all.

Sounds like my family!! I was raised in Sedalia, MO and my dad was a preacher!! :)
dream on. Your family are all on welfare
I searched the tv show on google and nothing except this particular video showed up...
These shows must have been the hit of the week for people back then.
All those kids are in their 60s now.
Now there is some real singing.
I have to say as am identical twin fraternal twins always throw me off where I know for the majority of people identical do lol.
Seem like really nice people.
Bet you those brothers sang a mean gospel quartet!!!🇺🇸🎵🎵🎵🎵

Marcia Davis I can give you their contact info. Bob is still living. He lives with Gregg.
Marcia Davis: We are related as well. My Great Great Grandfather, Martin Vernon, was Dallas Vernon's Uncle.
How fun! I love it.
Sounds like it would be a lead in to The Beverly Hillbillies "I'm A Clampett".
I agree, Betsy Palmer did guess correctly.
She often does; it's incredible
The first reality show.
At 8:48 Garry mistakenly leans on the buzzer !
Lebanon may be the geographic center of the U.S., if I remember correctly. Oops, I think it is in Kansas, not MO.
Lyons Kansas is where the center is!
Lebanon is in laclade county my late father's home town is lebanon
First family tv show Nothing like the Kardashians I bet😙
Note: they have 2 contestants and wonders of wonders...they have 2 chairs!!! Not like "What's my Line" that makes 2 people share the same chair! hahaha!!
Well. They can't give away there is 2 people lol.
Patti Smith does a great version of the song in this video!
I see that sadly there was another child Karen who died during the filming of their program.
The OSMOND FAMILY BEFORE THEY WERE..
Did they get bottles of Bufferin as prizes?
This is a great segment with a wonderful message. Imagine if someone did the same thing today on a game show, the

Or they would call it racist cause there's no black people but your right on about the leftist their destroying this country

How strange... women and men had the same me back then.
$ 80.00s wow
Oh, wait a minute. Our pet cats and dogs share our secret too. Can we go on with the show now? Boy, this was broadcast before timing was invented.
It was clever and comic
the Duggars... LOL
Not even close
Ewww not even close these people have class
They make the Duggar's look like oilers!
Probably more godly and respected then the Duggars
I bet Johnny had no trouble filling in since he got to sit between those two pretty women.
All have the same middle names?
All born in the same months?
Pre-Duggars?
Did you listen? Non-profit. Duggers were monetary gain from day one.
Also, the Vernon's were a farming family, so most of the kids (my mom being one of them) worked the farm. They were great people.
@@alecgonzalez6090 I believe we are distant cousins. My Great Great Grandfather, Martin Vernon, was Dallas Vernon's Uncle.
mi-zur-uh
