Disney always cut out the dark parts in fairy tales. In the Jungle Book the real story Moguli kills all the villagers with wolves so how this was left out of the Animated and live action movies lol.
It isn't a factual story. I mean the original novel the movies are based on. The novel has a far more gruesome ending that Disney cut out of their movies.
There's more background given to Belle's family in the original story. She was the youngest and simplest of three sisters. Their father was a merchant who lost his wealth at sea. He made a promise to bring back a rose for Belle from his next trip. The merchant got lost and found the castle. He tried to take a rose from the garden and the beast revealed himself and furiously imprisoned him. Belle was offered in exchange for the merchants life. The beast treated her well and kept his distance allowing her free reign over the castle. He kept asking her every evening to marry him and she refused. Finally, she grew homesick and asked to visit her family. She promised to return in a fortnight. Her sisters grew jealous of Belle's life of luxury with the beast and purposely delayed her return by months. Belle grew uneasy and then had a vision that the beast was dying in the rose garden. She returned and held his dying body. She declared her love and the beast transformed into the prince. I'm guessing there's a lot of symbolism and subtext from the original story otherwise it's quite dull to read and devoid of drama!
Wat he said was soo true, how the hell did the people in the village not know about there king, did the curse make them forget about the king and the castle.
Lol if this was a real-life story as opposed to a fairy tale, Belle would have just killed the beast after he was knocked unconscious by the wolves and return to the castle with her father to take home the treasures.
I found these reactions pretty late so maybe no one will notice, but there is a reason behind fairy tales ending good in Disney Stories. It's because they wrote their own endings rather then use original stories fully. I think Wisecrack TH-cam channel has a video about it but gist of story is that fairy tales were used as cautionary tales for children in old times so they had to end badly for protagonist to scare children of unknown world around village.

That's not the original story. In the original story the Prince and Belle are cousins, cousins!! They don't know it till the end, though.
