Been watching all the wartales videos and I`m loving them. Doing a great job of give and showing information, and I`ve learned a lot. Here is 2 things I learned: idk if this is a bug but I notice when I played last that the armor for the specializations is "up to" so it's not just basic or that armor but also everything between; So choosing a special that lets you ware medium armor allows you to choose basic, light or medium. Also, the items you can equip to your mercenaries are highlighted with a white border in the inventory window. I didn't like the heavy armor for my fighter and saw I could gave them medium instead.
Ambush can only be done if the opponent is engaged with another foe. So best use the cutthroat skill on those that are already fighting with someone else. Otherwise you'll waste it and engage with that opponent. Still, kudos. Loving all your vids on the game. Finally finished the 3 areas. Hopefully we'll see fully fleshed out cities and longer battles like actual sieges. So far, all our fights seemed to be nothing more than minor skirmishes.
Yeah I think the game has enormous potential with what they can add and their road map makes it look like we are going to get pretty consistent updates. What did I say ambush was in the video?
Pimped strategist skill works excellent with archers and the pimped barrage skill which let them shot at the 4 enemies to first enter the cone. With a little setup, I have my 2 archers setting the pimped barrage, 4 enemies in the cones (if needed use spearwall to stop the enemies from engaging) and finally use smoke screen and you have 8 arrows wreaking havoc at the same time!
I don't think a strategist is that useless. I use 2 strategists who have wrath and valorous victory paired with 2 destroyers having valorous duel and wrath. Usually, with first-round opening I can kill 2-3 enemies early with my rangers before they even attack and be valor point positive if I position my tanks who have valorous duel correctly, I can start a fight with 1 valor point and easily end with 10. ( which means I can pick more fights with a single rest).
i just survived a hard battle..after a fight my team was hungry was chased by soldiers no choice but to fight w 30% str and dex reduced..but i still managed to pull it off w/o anyone dying..this game is good..
I usually take the second option for valor point because my ranger get 3 kills (even 4 if the enemy are animals) (minimum 2 kills) with mean free points, always take throwing dagger for the extra movement and hand bomb in pair with the assassin build for the bleeding (also double damage from the dagger skill + 30% more critical damage) great video by the way...
My first ranger was a strategist build with a knife throw every time she uses skill. She also has first aid utility skill and has a valorous support passive. She is also my alchemist. My 2nd ranger is a cutthroat, with valorous killer as passive and deadly contract. and the party's thief.
I'm pretty sure the reason your archer shot instead of punched is because the lieutenant skill forces an attack of opportunity which is an " un-engaged " attack, that bow doesn't burn with attacks of opportunity like the archers barrage skill
Hmm, now I want to test this with another bow type. I do know that enemies with that bow will still use it rather than the punch attack which I find odd.
I know this might come a bit late... but my lieutenant has the ability to give characters double valorpoint generation. If you couple this with the cutthroat... lets just say my fights end in round 1 or at the start of round 2. Because the enemy just needs to be engaged to die for 0 cost and if its close i still have a stab, frenzy and knifethrow.
My opinion on lv2 Specialization after choosing the first option is bad on late game, after 24 hours of team building, ranger can kill 2 enemy in a turn, but once killed there will be no enemy so I wont get any valour points, so it make sense to get second or third option in lv2 specialization, especially killing gives valour point in late game.
Yeah things certainly change up as you hit level 5. I'm curious what difficulty you are playing on? I didn't want to make my guides for specific difficulties and because hard increases enemy health it makes valorous victory less reliable.
You unlock the assassin class by winning Smott's arena and then talking to the old gladiator in the Vertrusian windmill. Right now it's the only unlockable class, but I'm hoping we get more added as development continues.

super late comment but I found using the run skill on rangers with the ability to gain points next to a teamamtte to be super strong

Small update. Poison bomb now applies 4 stacks making it even better with the Viper dagger.

why did they remove the assassin ranger?
if you have a ranger with the knife throw skill and have him throw the spears from ground you throw the knife also :) very good dam and just fun :)
