Did you know the harpooner can make use of the Aim skill? It does indeed double the range of their Piercing Throw ability. Yes, it's a two point combo, but totally worth it.
just a tip, as we are limited in the early release and we are trying to experience all options, Save before looting the bandit camps, or before approaching a wandering trader on the road, if you check the trade/chests and they don't have what you want, re-load, you can and will get all of the weps and trinkets ( camps for the later) as some traders and all camps generate the loot randomly, also as we have no respec yet, Pop into your steam folder and create a copy of your save folder before any big decisions you can always go back then by copying back over the selection the save that pre-dates it that's how I picked up my epic polearm, 1 handed flame sword and the trinket you showed ( the Fist) that gives a 50% increase to base damage, great for the spearman
Yeah the spear has so far been the only thing eluding me. I'm hoping as they add more regions that we'll get specialty shop keepers who will sell rare weapons, crafting supplies, alchemy supplies etc.
I found out Aim skill works with Harpooner spear throw. massive range boost and it goes through all enemies hit as well. upgrade the spear throw and you got a massive line of bleeds.
The +30% is borderline broken. Like a beacon of free oneshots. The archer barrage with a brutality injection does wonders. Oneshot 5 ghosts/animals in 1 round etc. It's just free 30% for himself any anyone touching his square. I ended up with a Spearman with over 25 mobility and it's the best thing since sliced bread. Run around and juice up where it matters. I am now ending the spear's turns in a way that it just acts as a buff beacon for following characters. Get his 1-2 attacks off and re position to inject aoe, archer, charges etc. That detail changed so much. Snack the +30% for allies > valor/spear dmg chasing. Like a mobile power outlet.
I like spear wall and fervent support together with a tank build. Since spear itself has a pretty good range, you can put a good shield tank slight ahead of it. Add riposte and the spearman gets to lance anyone who hits your tank and together with riposte and fervent support you can lock down a narrow passage and to plenty of damage while taking less. Add an archer with upgraded barrage and you have the potential to slay entire groups of enemies.
U wanted to know how to hit 3 Times as harponer? In Tiltren U can buy officers pillim (or called similar) from Trading men near Main City of Tiltren in early Game for 150/170 gold. 3:37
Hmm, that may be the case, and would make the ability significantly better. Once we get the level cap increase I will likely be revisiting these guides and hopefully by then we get some tool tip clarifications and updates as well.
The tooltip for sweetspot seems missleading, in your video it applied destabilisation to the Brute enemy you attacked, so it seems to work on Enemies "not attached" to anything and not just ranged aka Archer/Speer)? th-cam.com/video/TyGWFd-XIeM/w-d-xo.html or is this some other effect?
Hmm good catch, I believe because he has a two handed mace that has an attack area he gets classed as a ranged enemy. The skills that get classed as "Melee" are the ones that require the character to be adjacent to an enemy.
I think it means as long as the spearman isn't adjacent and is at a range it will apply the debuff.. the wording for this skill description is not in favor of this theory, will be testing
i played Wartales 2 days and my Troops rized to 8 to 10 people with 1 bear, one Wulf, 3 Ponys, but the Salary was so high (130), and my income for Hunting the wanted high, that the Salary "eats" away my reward really quick. After your lets play of the "harpooner", i start New game in Area Arthes (Edoran). Beginning with 4 people and 1 harpooner, now i hired 1 more Sodlier, and have a troop of 5 People, and after 3-4 Small Mission i earned 1000 gold, my Soldeirs Salary is now around 59 (with 2 Perks to lower the salary). The Game makes more fun, i have more money left, and enemies are much easier because i am low level at the moment (level 2 now, coming slowly to level 3). I want a spezialied small Troop, for the moment Maximum 5 Sodliers, and 1 to max. 2 Harponeers, (they seem to be very effective with swordsmen). I need to go work comming week, but aftter the week i have Christmay holiday and will time to play Wartales. I think the Swordsmen and Harpooner are going to get my favorite classes.
Dor the oils i don't agree but i understand apart if it's with limited ressources putting an oil in is still an upgrade as much as small as she is tho!
It's functionally just 1 turn. The status effect "Fury" will stay on the characters for the whole battle, but it is consumed on their first attack. This means when you give them the buff you don't have to attack right away to make use of it, but once you make an attack fury is gone.
THE SPEAR WALL / PIT perks tho is scary cause the upgraded version doesn't say at all that it's 2 opportunity attack and even so if yo usaid that it doesn't apply "0" dmg cause its bug and i agree but it's scary cause it might say that the dev intend to make a good oppotunity attack perks exchnaged with basic attack just for one more target ... that's not worth it if it's the case i mean if you care about damage in a more weak but support way it's fine but 2 is kinda weak then.
ALSO true that the mastery waste isn't worth the bonus cause it would need a bigger wider arc to maybe be more realiable + the fact it cost a point. Sad cause it's pretty cool and good in it's core. Also cost a valor point x') .
Historicaly spears would have been paired with shields. The spear is able to attack while keeping the shield guard up. Sadly this game wont allow you to equip shields and spears.
Having the flexibility to choose to one or two hand certain weapons would be awesome. I think setting wise the game is shooting for early renaissance and trying to portray the pole arms as halberd or pike units getting more reach and bonuses when in formation with allied units. Of course then you can say that the actual weapon art and naming doesn't match very well.
@@TeddyNinja Well, even in the early and mid reasinance period, spear and shield was the most common loadout for non-knights units. Making games in this time period without spear and shield is like making a game about the Afghanistan war without assault rifles.
@@giantorres3352 Yeah, especially when the back story options are like you're a bunch of peasants forced to fend for yourselves on the road. These guys are going to be picking up clubs, spears, shields, the cheapest most common things.
Ok I'm getting frustrated af.On all of your videos (which are pretty helpful btw) when you show off talents, you clearly have some boxes for level 7, and it looks to me like something is unlockable there, and each time I hope you'll scroll down to dispel my thoughts but you don't. I've scoured forums (and saw you there too) about level 7 but according to everyone it's still not out. Can you tell me, for the life of me, what are those boxes down for level 7?
They are place holders in the UI for when the devs update the game. So can confirm, lvl 7 is not out right now... But increasing the max level is on the roadmap for the next update which is scheduled for Q1 this year.
Battle cry perk is the worst and wasted in my oppinion the rest is kinda fine maybe a a bit weak tho again lack of more bigger and deversified deepen tree !
if you don't mind save scumming then the weapon merchants will sell legion spears. also I keep a level 7 boar around so all the wares they sell are the same level and my spearman has over 50 str :)
What is the strongest Spearman build you guys have made?

Thank you kindly for your hard work creating these very useful guides. In addition, you're talented at doing it, and wish you further success.
I was looking for this video yesterday XD so happy to see it up now just in time!

Farmer start gives you everything you need for that. Just started a play-through and having two spears to guard the archer is broken.

thanks bro, now I got an idea to build 4 spearman team with fervent support
I wasn’t sure about regrouping a spearman..😊Great build guide.It help a lot👍
What is the best Spearman build you guys have made?
Hilarious that the Harpooner was also the Angler.🤣
I believe the wording for Sweetspot may be wrong - it should read "units at range" instead of ranged units. But I haven't tested it.
Hmm, that may be the case, and would make the ability significantly better. Once we get the level cap increase I will likely be revisiting these guides and hopefully by then we get some tool tip clarifications and updates as well.
Looked this up because I’m debating if I should hire this poor lad into my Elite Mercenary outfit.

Doesn't Battle Cry apply Fury for the entire duration of combat? The tooltip does not specify it's only for a single turn.
It's functionally just 1 turn.
