  • A ride on Sound Transit's Central Link Light Rail to International District/Chinatown station from SeaTac Airport. We ride in car 110, in the middle of the train.
    Sound Transit's Central Link is an electrified tram-style Light Rail line from the University of Washington to Sea-Tac Airport, via Downtown Seattle. The line is energized at 1.5KV AC. An extension to Angle Lake from SeaTac is structurally complete, and due to open in September.

    I'm excited for this to be extended north to my area in 2024. With that and the improvements I've heard Community Transit will be making that year, getting around the region should be easier.

    Has anyone heard, Seattle is also getting 152 new Siemens s700 light rail vehicles for their expansion, more than doubling their current fleet? They’ll keep these Kinkisharyo cars, but they are updating some things about their operation.

    If I'm not mistaken the start of this video was taken from the tower the 13 Coins Restaurant is in. I worked in that restaurant in 1980.

    May someone know LRT will go from Seatac airport to Mountlake Terrace? I will travel there next month. Please give me more information like which stop station, how to pay etc… thank you

    • @Welwyn22
      @Welwyn22  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Northgate is as far as you can travel right now on the LRT, the station at SeaTac has ticket vending machines. At Northgate you will need to board a Metro bus to Mountlake Terrace, which is a separate ticket payable with coin fare only.

    Do you have to tap your orca card again after you leave the Link?

    • @Welwyn22
      @Welwyn22  7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Yes, you are supposed to. The reason is there are two fare zones on LINK - with a difference of 25c in Off-Peak, and 75c On-Peak. With future expansion into Snohomish County and possibly Pearce County, there will be more fare zones requiring tap-out on LINK.

      We don't always have bullshit weather and buses are the primary mode of transportation.

    • @trainrover
      @trainrover 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hmmm, well by the author's telling response that wouldn't appear to be as seldom as you wish, _eh,_ although I myself'd never categorise it under always or as bullshit. My there quip chimed in early on watching his ride here. The admirably pleasant tram would be better off becoming primary had it been routed through busy areas, not customarily through those zones of discard if you will, right.. .. . .

    • @AmbientMorality
      @AmbientMorality 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@trainrover It is going through significant communities. Airport, Stadium, and University of Washington all get plenty of traffic. The Downtown stops are the core of Seattle public transportation. Rainier Beach through Beacon Hill is a rapidly developing area due to the lower housing prices there, and amenities have gotten very good (and great Asian food over there).

    • @trainrover
      @trainrover 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      The way Seattle has routed its tram is typically customary. It plies areas for redevelopment while bringing about slumps to the currently vibrant districts. They're doing the same crappiness with the complementary metro system now being built where I live. Our forthcoming _Réseau express métropolitain_ is to spur massive developments while the highly populated, poor areas of the northeast end of the city still have no access to rapid transit all these decades later. Corporateers' wet dreams simultaneously make me cringe and shudder.
