Sorry to hear that man. I've had several asian friends growing up and while their parents were nice, I could see what you mean. There's been many times where they've expressed this to me. Though, I don't know what that's like, I can only imagine. I've heard it from a lot of asian people. One friend of mine though, his dad was awesome and was always there for his family/kids, even used to play mario kart with us. I've been blessed, my family is italian decent, so we've always been super close and family oriented. Not many people get to have that and I feel for those who don't. My family at least took a lot of people in, friends, friends of fam, etc. due to their own family situations. My heart goes out to all of those growing up in stressful and unsupportive homes. Bless them, especially this holiday season

Well haven’t watched Lifetime in awhile but my recollection to be a real Lifetime movie you need an abuser who tells the main that she won’t believed.

@Agge Jefferies kinda different because they (uber drivers) have to go through some sort of process, all you have to do on dating site (I think) is sign up and you’re on. Ofc there are uber drivers who do bad things and probably are the things you mentioned but much less often than tinder dates. And uber drivers get reviews so you can see if they are good and bad

I mean.. I hear your point, but I really don't think they're _that_ bad. All the types of people you mentioned exist in real life society too. Most of the time, there isn't really convenient places to meet new people who may also be interested in dating. I mean the bar for example, not really the cream of the crop to meet people. In modern society, people aren't as connected as they once were and if you're no longer in school, meeting people becomes that much more difficult. Less parties, less social events, less chances, unless you try your luck at the grocery store or someplace similar, but honestly, how many women want random men coming up to them at the store or happen to come in their work and try to flirt or make small talk out of romantic intrest? I doubt women would even be trusting of that (I mean correct me if I'm wrong). I've done it once at Walgreens to a cute girl and it semi-worked but nothing ever came of it. If you're a male and your friends don't have many female friends or know of women they hang around (I say this as a guy; vice versa if you're a woman) then again, it's harder to meet people. I feel women are much less open to a stranger at the store making small talk and trying to get their number than on a dating app. At least on a dating app like bumble, you both have similar goal(s) in mind. As much as I have my gripes with online dating and and social media, with seemingly disconnecting people more than connecting them... At least with online dating it starts with messaging each other and and comparing interests, there you can sort out if you wanna continue further. That's why it's up to you to clear that person of red flags (weather online or in person). With online dating you both can share social media if any and check if it looks legit. If they seem like a normal person with a normal life then you can continue. You shouldn't just put faith as soon as you match and decide to go out and meet them right away, there's a process. You chat with them for a few days, a week, whatever, then set up a coffee date in a public space, then take it from there. I wouldn't really compare online dating to like a dark shady alleyway in Tijuana or Juarez or something though. Fact is, it can be quite hard to meet people these days, so might as well utilize what you have available, weather social media or dating apps.

But at the end of the day, it's a movie.
But everyone lies & acts like a hypocrite IRL - a major part of romantic love is the trust & empathy + accepting the worst parts of someone along with the good parts by both partners.

The thing I like about this movie are, forgiving and willing. The guy got rejected and sad but still accepting the girl. The girl has a will to change - that sometimes love can be found because of comfort and relatable things rather than those rich jock muscle guy but for sure a player. And she's willing to try. Who knows about the future, if they will got married or not. But definitely, for a while - there will be so much moments to make and to reminisce.
How crazy! A woman falling in love with someone not simply based on their looks! And all it took was for her to be tricked into seeing beyond looks

Honestly it is sad as hell but catfishes that ive found on tinder have been the best conversations ive ever had. This is actually true in a real world as well, a lot of people are blinded by the cloud of looks, and bypassing the real person's trait because of the looks, which is an irony, but can't really blame them
As a guy I find this to be unbearable cringe. But I actually like such feel good movies if they have proper plot. I know nothing about chick flicks, but I like the easy atmosphere and proper endings.

Natalie started out as physical only before learning the emotional part is just as important if not more after Josh tries to wingman her 😝 I think if anything, this movie shows all the ugly side of dating right up front to it's viewers.

What a nice (christmas) comedy movie. Although it was wrong to completely catfish someone, lets argue that she woulddnt have given him the time of day if he was honest. Lets also laugh at the hypocrisy, as she is willing to act like a whole other person to get with Tag, doing things she doesnt like but acting like thats exactly what she likes.
Its natural, in a relationship to be introduced to new things. But to lie that you like rockwall climbing when you havent even done that once, is a huge leap. This concept seems to have been done to death, as its all very easy to predict what will happen next, but id still watch this every christmas. Its like a Hallmark movie, so cheesy but still a nice romantic story.
The hypocrisy is the point of the movie.

@W K- coming from a married man, physicality isn’t going to work long term. As the saying goes, “beauty fades, dumb is forever”. You can’t have a young and attractive thing on your arm when you’re getting old and wrinkly. It’s about whether you can stand to be around each other for long periods of time.
In fact, if you look at it evolution-wise, good looks currently mean you are less likely to have children. So as these childless beautiful people die, erasing their genes from the pool, “ugly” people will become more populous as they are the ones passing their genes on to further generations.

BS ending. He deserved better. I thought he had nothing better to do with his life and was trolling that chick. She already proved that she's superficial. Take the fake profile image, and her only being interested in her perception of a "handsome" guy, and call it even. You can choose to be adults and continue the relationship or admit that it wouldn't work together. By her standards, she shouldn't be surprised if she's replaced in 20 yrs with a newer model. Taking the lesser of 2 evils, it's terribly difficult to root for him, since catfishing is bottom of the barrel tactics.

He made an equivalent offer. He catfished his image, not his personality. She only cared for his personality when a pretty face was attached, thus making her undoubtedly shallow. She even admits this, and is the very same reason her boss clowns her. If she really cared for personality, then she would've laughed off the catfish image thing and ask to start over, like a mature adult would. If he was really into her, then he'd be willing to start over in person. His personality, that she loved so to traveo cross-country would still be the same. If he catfished his personality as well, then it wouldn't work. The dude had low self esteem, and apparently for good reason. This also leads him into having terrible taste in women, unfortunately.

For people who put better picturs in their dating profiles than they look in real life. Have you ever tried doing the opposite? I know for men getting women to swipe on you is hard, getting them to say more than hi is even harder. But I discovered, putting goofey pictures of myself and also some pictures from when I was fugly. You got rid of the shallow women right away and those that picked you I had a much easier time connecting with them.

Not sure how straight dating apps work from me being a gay person I'm pretty sure all online dating apps are shit. The movie is relatable. I mean would she have given chance to Josh if she saw his real pic. I hardly doubt that. Ofcourse I'm not saying catfishing someone is gud either. But people do judge u by looks in dating apps. There are people i have met who wouldn't generally be someone I'd go for but they have amazing personality and the next thing u know their looks aren't important anymore once u get to know them.... Hence atleast for me I've learned my lesson to give a chance to everyone even if not my type. Looks can impress at first but it's the person that makes the relationship last longer
