It's the clearest penalty all weekend, Jones turns to have a shot, is kicked in the foot which stops him having the shot and the defender doesn't touch the ball. Absolutely lunacy to even consider calling it soft!
You can’t be offside from a corner, so he was able to back into the keeper. He only becomes offside once stones makes contact with the ball. When that happened, silva had backed away and had ducked… however I do agree with the sentiment regarding city and their favourable decisions. Also the refs are very inconsistent
When they showed the ref the video of the incident of the corner, they only showed him the header from the front view. They never showed it from the side view.
I agree with you here, 100%! The level of refereeing in the Premiership is abysmal! No consistency and they can’t interpret the rules even with a VAR review!
Let us not forget the disgrace at Spurs last season and “ that” disallowed ( by Howard Webbs VAR geniuses ) goal by Diaz and LFC being reduced to 9 men by laughable refereeing.
At the end of the day I think that you can argue that every decision was the right one. Tosin’s foul could be a yellow as either him or Colwill would have probably caught Jota before the box, the second pen isn’t really a pen and there is no offside on Chelsea’s goal. But where is the consistency, the day before Saliba is redcarded by the VAR, now the VAR says it isn’t obvious but is the second pen given by the ref an obvious mistake? Not to sure
that second pen was more of a pen than the first ,that goalie was reckless ,in the middle of the pitch its a foul and a booking even if he touches the ball
I get what he said cuz I watched that game, it did look like Bernardo did obstruct Jose Sa’s view. In my opinion it should have been ruled out having Man City draw but I don’t know.
I hate the pgmol as much as the next guy but I think the got the city one right, when Bernardo nudged him he was actually in and onside position and when stones heads it he’s out of the way
The thing with the City goal is when Silva is standing in front of the keeper he's not offside, when he backs in to him is it a foul? No. You could maybe argue it's obstruction but it's not a foul and Silva doesn't have to move away from Sa, he's allowed to stand there. Then he moves out of the way and ducks, he only becomes offside once Stones heads it by which point Silva is well out of the way. I would've preferred it was ruled out but I think it's a goal, it's clever but not against the rules.
How is he offside ? You can't be offside from a corner, the only time he's offside is when it has come off stones head and he wasn't even touching him at that point 👀
Liverpool fan here . How is Bernardo in an offside position when it’s a corner ? The only way it’s interfering is if he barges into the keeper at the time of the header and he’s not .
Bernardo isn't in an offside position while duelling with the keeper. He's only offside after Stones heads the ball at which point he's ducking out the way.
Keeper wasn’t looking at Silva at all during the play, matter of fact Silva even moved out of the way and crouched to make himself smaller, it’s a risky decision but definitely not indicative of anything else, just banter atp
I mean if you want to talk about consistency, the Wolves goal WAS different, you can watch it back if you like. So it's not ridiculous to allow the City one to stand.
The city goal was definitely not a clear and obvious error so why did var get involved. Then the Arsenal sending off and the Chelsea player not, it’s just the refs giving the decision to city even when they aren’t playing
The fact that hundreds of thousands of fans see this week in week out and the only person getting paid for it, gets it WRONG , you know the refs have a HUGE problem
Getting a touch on the ball before wiping an opponent out hasnt been in the laws for years. Apart from when Curtis was sent off against spurs last season when his momentum took him into the spurs player, another VAR decision against LFC. I wonder when the PGMOL will apologise this time 🤔
Can i just say howard webb dunking custard creams with gary is not a disgrace. You cannot be offside before a header is made....thats the rule.if its a foul then fine but he cannot be offside
As you said mark. Bernardo barges into the keeper before the header, hence it’s a new phase of play and the barge is irrelevant. I am a Liverpool fan but I’m so fed up of this crying from mark and the Arsenal lot.
You're clouded by your bias. There was nothing wrong with that city goal and I'm a Chelsea fan. Also how nobody is mentioned Sancho getting stamped on and swiped down by Trent in the box is crazy. Clearest penalty out of all of them and it wasn't given.
if my beloved reds play like that against manchester city and arsenal, those matches will be over by half-time, and city and the gunners will sub off their stars for the reserves to coast to three points.
Sanchez gets the ball, but he doesn't clear the ball, the ball goes behind him and Curtis doesn't get to the ball only because Sanchez smashes him. It seems the rules are that if you touch the ball, you can kill the opponent. Another masterpiece from Oliver, red card not given, penalty overturned (I thought they were doing it when there is a clear mistake, this situation is at least 50/50). Another season, referees are killing City's contenders and are pushing City every chance they have.
Normally I’d agree with you about the reffs but that city goal should stand. He’s in an onside position when the corners taken as he’s behind the ball. The only part of that play that matters is the instant it leaves stones head and gets played forward. At that point he’s out of the keepers line of sight and practically on the deck. Shit situation but I think technically it’s a goal.
Honestly Mark, they do treat us like imbeciles but that doesn’t stop us watching the games day after day, week after week, month after month, year after year
Not sure what you're smoking here, Mark. Must be the same stuff the refs and VAR and all the other pundits that are saying about the Jones pen shout against the keeper, but that's as stone wall of a pen you'll see. Doesn't matter if he's "got a bit of the ball". He's absolutely slaughtered Jones there, and not only that, he's been nutmegged, which is something no one mentioned. If the keeper doesn't clean him out, he's rounding him for a tap in.
Where is Goldbridge's consistency, such biasness. Saying "it does not matter so long as you get the ball first" When it was an obvious Liverpool penalty. But last season when United were away at City and Ederson made a tackle and clearly got the ball vs United he is whining about it being a penalty and mocking folks who were saying it was not a penalty becos he got the ball.
Mark you’re losing credibility here complaining about that city goal. As a Liverpool fan that’s a clear cut goal. Wasn’t anywhere near his field of vision
Y’all acting like Jota didn’t pull Tosin’s shirt making Tosin fall on Top of Him Yh tactical that’s what an attacking player would do but never cut off the point Jota pulling Tosin’s shirt
"he gets the ball" you're literally watching the game 🤣 he doesn't get the ball, he takes the player out, Jota puts the ball through his legs, there's a slight touch on the underside of the goalkeepers leg but not enough to say he got the ball FFS, the ball continues in the same direction and Jones can't apply the finish because he's taken him out!! If he makes enough contact with ball, the ball should change direction but it doesn't! It's a penalty all day, reckless, dangerous and just the wrong decision from the keeper to come flying out like that! Remember what happened to VVD when Pickford did something similar?! If Jones leg is planted that's a bad injury for Jones. He does a summersault too and almost lands on his head 🤣
I agree. Also a Liverpool fan, and the reason why I think it's fine is that B Silva isn't offside until Stones makes contact with the ball as it's from a corner. Once the contact is made, Silva is ducking and out of the way. He isn't blocking the view of the gk and the ball doesn't go anywhere near him so goal should stand
@sami-yw7rq if you read my original comment, he is onside in that position. That second is very important because silva realises he's going to be offside so stops making any contact with the keeper, and moves away from him and attempts to move out of his eyesight

Plus he’s in his area and why isn’t he challenging with his hands not his feet def penalty
The linesman you’re calling old is Darren Cann who officiated in over 500 premier league matches
I get what he said cuz I watched that game, it did look like Bernardo did obstruct Jose Sa’s view. In my opinion it should have been ruled out having Man City draw but I don’t know.
I hate the pgmol as much as the next guy but I think the got the city one right, when Bernardo nudged him he was actually in and onside position and when stones heads it he’s out of the way
No one talking about the free kick wolves should've had just before that corner anyway
Finally, someone else who saw that
The thing with the City goal is when Silva is standing in front of the keeper he's not offside, when he backs in to him is it a foul?
Wanted to hear MG's reaction to the Robertson tackle/block at the end.
One of the first times I've ever seen the ref go to the monitor and not overturn it
Last year Macalister should have had a penalty at the end of the Anfield encounter and the ref bottled it.
Liverpool fan here . How is Bernardo in an offside position when it’s a corner ? The only way it’s interfering is if he barges into the keeper at the time of the header and he’s not .
No reaction to the Darwin slot meltdown???
Mark, i did not see the Jota potential DOGSO at the time, but you're right, where's the consistency?
Spot on mark . How the hell is that a goal PL bought and paid for
Bernardo isn't in an offside position while duelling with the keeper. He's only offside after Stones heads the ball at which point he's ducking out the way.
the main problem is no TV pundit says what they see, only the watching viewer... MOTD2 with Benitez said it was fine/totally different.
Marks a secret Liverpool fan
12:07 100% agree, He was interfering with play. I don't agree that the first penalty was a soft one.
Keeper wasn’t looking at Silva at all during the play, matter of fact Silva even moved out of the way and crouched to make himself smaller, it’s a risky decision but definitely not indicative of anything else, just banter atp
Curtis Jones Underrated to fill in Mac Allister's shoes.
So here is the point.. bernado silva is not in an offside position till the ball touches stones head. So whatever he did till then counts as fairplay
Thought there might be a reaction to the nunez's shoulder to shoulder where the ref blew the whistle. Want to know what Mark's thoughts on it are...
I mean if you want to talk about consistency, the Wolves goal WAS different, you can watch it back if you like. So it's not ridiculous to allow the City one to stand.
I remember UTD having the same fortune in Fergies days.
I’m a Liverpool fan and I think the decision is correct just look at the GK reaction he doesn’t think was a foul.
The city goal was definitely not a clear and obvious error so why did var get involved.
Then the Arsenal sending off and the Chelsea player not, it’s just the refs giving the decision to city even when they aren’t playing
VAR deliberately dudnt ahow the whole play. Whether or not it was right or wrong, let the ref see the whole thing ffs
The fact that hundreds of thousands of fans see this week in week out and the only person getting paid for it, gets it WRONG , you know the refs have a HUGE problem
Getting a touch on the ball before wiping an opponent out hasnt been in the laws for years.
Apart from when Curtis was sent off against spurs last season when his momentum took him into the spurs
player, another VAR decision against LFC.
Arsenal did it twice against City and there are no whining from Mark
The trouble is you don’t know the rules Goldbridge… he cannot be offside before Stones touches the ball.
You're clouded by your bias. There was nothing wrong with that city goal and I'm a Chelsea fan. Also how nobody is mentioned Sancho getting stamped on and swiped down by Trent in the box is crazy. Clearest penalty out of all of them and it wasn't given.
if my beloved reds play like that against manchester city and arsenal, those matches will be over by half-time, and city and the gunners will sub off their stars for the reserves to coast to three points.
agree totally mate
"he's already given one shoft one, he can't give another"
Honestly Mark, they do treat us like imbeciles but that doesn’t stop us watching the games day after day, week after week, month after month, year after year
Love seeing this man cry about everything 😅😅😅
Not sure what you're smoking here, Mark. Must be the same stuff the refs and VAR and all the other pundits that are saying about the Jones pen shout against the keeper, but that's as stone wall of a pen you'll see. Doesn't matter if he's "got a bit of the ball". He's absolutely slaughtered Jones there, and not only that, he's been nutmegged, which is something no one mentioned. If the keeper doesn't clean him out, he's rounding him for a tap in.
Was I the only one who was fuming at the handball in the opening minutes
Where is Goldbridge's consistency, such biasness. Saying "it does not matter so long as you get the ball first" When it was an obvious Liverpool penalty. But last season when United were away at City and Ederson made a tackle and clearly got the ball vs United he is whining about it being a penalty and mocking folks who were saying it was not a penalty becos he got the ball.
Mark you’re losing credibility here complaining about that city goal. As a Liverpool fan that’s a clear cut goal. Wasn’t anywhere near his field of vision
No
The point is they always get the call. If this had happened to any other team they’re never getting the call.
Nothing goes against City you do realise that ???
It's not the moving out of the way it's pushing the keeper whilst the ball is out of play and coming in. It's dirty.
you're completely missing the point. But sure
Y’all acting like Jota didn’t pull Tosin’s shirt making Tosin fall on Top of Him
Yh tactical that’s what an attacking player would do but never cut off the point Jota pulling Tosin’s shirt
Preach Mark
I think he lost his mind at this point. As a Liverpool fan I say clean goal for City.
Also a Liverpool fan, you’re both clueless and have never played football in your life
@@sami-yw7rq and yet doesn't to say where I'm wrong. Laws of the game, he hasbt interfered in an offside position
@@gabrielgullidge2701 he literally backs into the goalkeeper less than a second before they score
@sami-yw7rq if you read my original comment, he is onside in that position. That second is very important because silva realises he's going to be offside so stops making any contact with the keeper, and moves away from him and attempts to move out of his eyesight
