Thorough assembly. Attention to all the little things many people skip like mating surface prep, and pre-lube all those areas IMO go a long way to ensuring that motor will be trouble free for years. 👍
Learning all the time, circlips sharp side up! of course! I've just fitted 2 to my 750GT Ducati and now I'll have to check them, 50pc chance of correct orientation(nearly 60 yrs and never realised !). Thanks again Dale, good video.
@montana2strokeracer the forces people always tend to get those things right. My father was an aero engine fitter on Halifax bomber squadron (ground crew) WWII. Told me how, but I used to take shortcuts!
Great video, Dale! Nice to see you back in the shop dong what you love and what we love to watch. This little bike will now have a totally new lease on life thanks to you. Awesome!
Thanks Jim, yes having a good time in the shop again. This bike is the coolest. Have learned a lot, having never worked on one. The owner is going to love this little gem back on the road again.
Thanks Dante, it's tough finding some of this stuff, I like to share my victory's and my defeats. Drop me a line if you're looking for something, I may just have a source for you. Glad to help
You gotta like working on the mini cycles! You can get a lot more of them in the shop! So great to hear that your surgery went well and you are feeling 100%! Thanks for taking us along on the ride!
Hi Dale, glad to see you are on the mend. Had a little laugh when I noticed the little bruise on your thumbnail. I have the exact same, its growing out slowly..... these little things come with what we do! Very grateful for the tips you share in your videos, best regards from Ireland, Dermot
Great video Dale. You know I've been waiting for thus one. Never considered the grease on the cover gaskets before. I've always used Gasket Goo since i built up a Holden red motor back when I was twenty years old. Will certainly be using this video as a reference for my YZ80F motor assembly. Thanks for sharing your info. 🇦🇺
Thanks Chris, I guess the only reason you can get by with grease is that the Japanese made all the cases so flat and perfect. I would not try this with an American made car. I know it would leak.
I was looking forward to this, for a while I thought the project had been shelved or returned to the owner. Next the HS1? I prefer to replace those Philips screws on the case covers with Allen bolts. Good to hear surgery was a success. 👍
Thanks Steve, still plugging along on the GT1, have waits on parts sometimes. There have been 6 videos on the Gt1 and pretty much done with the HS1 except for paint in the spring. There are lots of videos on the HS1, check out the playlist if you haven't. Thank you yes, the surgery was a success, and I am feeling ready to get into some things.
The last one of these I rebuilt had a broken transmission shaft at the kick idler and when looking for a new one I found out the RD 60 used the same transmission but it’s a 5 speed instead of a four. I put the 5 speed in and it worked perfectly.
Yes, that was what we found on this one. Not the shaft, but a busted right-side case at the countershaft. A new case was sourced and the shafts checked. Yes, others have said the later YZ80's had the 5 speed and could be swapped no problem. This one is a customer's bike, so I don't have the flexibility to do that swap. Just fixing what's broke. There is a full playlist on this bike if you have missed any.
Great Video Dale yes I agree Yamaha fasteners are crazy prices. Zed power in the UK is good for that and much cheaper. Do you media blast those cases if so what Media do you use ?
Hey Dale at 16:00 you can see a large chamfer on the inside of that bush, on KTM strokers the chamfer is to accommodate an o ring that slips over the crankshaft, the o ring is to stop oil seeping between the inside of the bush and the crank, I hope that this old Yamaha does not need an o ring! EDIT...Actually I've just looked at an exploded diagram, there is no o ring!
Awesome Dale! Another great video. Hey, have you ever considered including the tag ASMR in your video tags? The reason I suggest this is because I find your videos very relaxing as well. ASMR is kind of a TH-cam phenomenon, check it out if you don't know about it. I can't hurt to include it in your tags, and might bring you an unexpected wider audience.😊
Hey Gigi, thanks for stopping by again. I have never heard of ASMR, had to look it up. Heck why not, I will include in my tags for the IT465 boring operation. Will see how it goes. Thanks for the heads up my friend.
Oh, they are much the same I guess, buy stuff from both. But Grainger is better for me here if they have what I need, I get free shipping for any amount of order and most orders are here the next day. Where Mcmaster is not free shipping on anything and its 3 days away.
Hey buddy, thank you very much. Glad you enjoyed the video. The oil cans are Eagle #66, from the 1960's, very collectable these days. I just think they are cool.
Another wonderful instructional video Dale. A meticulous build as always. And you're looking and sounding like your old self.
Cheers, Peter.
Thanks Peter, yes I am feeling a lot better.

You are right, those little details can make a huge difference in longevity. Thank you Enzo.
Great video Dale. I'm very glad you have recovered so well. Best wishes, Dean.
Doing very good my friend. Just glad to be back in my happy place.
Excellent and informative as always Dale. We appreciate these instructive videos more than you know. Thanks
Thank you for your kind words Mike.

Thanks, buddy, ah man it's an Air Force thing. I learned a lot about aircraft hardware and how to use it.
@montana2strokeracer the forces people always tend to get those things right. My father was an aero engine fitter on Halifax bomber squadron (ground crew) WWII. Told me how, but I used to take shortcuts!
Happy to hear your doing well Dale. Thank you for putting out videos. Truly enjoy your content. You produce great videos. God bless brother.
Thank you, Wayne, I enjoy working in the shop with the old bikes and machines. I'm always glad to hear folks enjoy the videos.
Great video, Dale! Nice to see you back in the shop dong what you love and what we love to watch. This little bike will now have a totally new lease on life thanks to you. Awesome!

Hey Dale , so nice to see you back ! Thanks Dale .
Thanks Murray, feeling good, ready to get into things.
Good morning, Thanks for the tips on sourcing screws.

Oh yeah, that's why I do motorcycles now instead of cars. I can park 16 motorcycles where a car was parked. Imagine that. Yep, doing much better.
Good morning Dale, I'm looking forward to it.
Thanks Larry, good to have you along.

Yes, sir doing good, I know man, I feel like I must enjoy beating the crap out of my fingers. I always seem to have a bruise somewhere.
Nicely done Dale!! I have used 3 Bond 1211 for over 35 years and IMO it's the best case bond, never had an issue. Love your work.
Thank you, yes I have used 3 bond for a long time with no regrets.
Here looking to learn
Thanks Dale.
Good to have you in the shop, Mark.
It’s coming along nicely.
I agree, thanks for going for the ride Cain.

Nice work Dale! Very similar to the TS75 Suzuki that I refreshed a bit ago.
Thanks, my friend, yes very similar indeed, sure would like to come across a TS75, cool machine.
Great Video Dale yes I agree Yamaha fasteners are crazy prices.

Sounds like you already have a good source for hardware. Good deal. No all I did was clean in the ultra sonic cleaner.

Yes, I kept looking for it on this bike too, the larger enduros, 125/175 do have that o-ring. But not this machine.
good morning Dale you look great, hope your feeling good.
I am doing well Frank, Thank you.
