Great catch Dale! A less experienced/less caring person wouldn’t have caught it or would have just let it go. I really appreciate your attention to detail, the experience, and passion you put into your work it really shows in your videos. Have an amazing 2025!
Another great video. Learned how to identify rings catching and how to solder a condenser back in. Even to my untrained ears I hear less noise from the cylinder than in the last video. Way back in the day I knew a kid with what looks like this same bike. Well done!
Hi Dale, it's great to see you take pride in your work. Slightly related, i got caught before where i fitted a refinished head and barrel, it rang like hell untill i figured out the little rubber damper blocks had not been refitted. They make a huge difference. All.the best
Hi Dale, with your new camera your videos have gone to another level. Really enjoyed the GT80 videos as I do all of them. Keep them coming. Got my shed extended and a new motorcycle lift, having fun too. I must have been a good boy for Christmas. Barry
Hey Barry, thanks, this GT80 is cool indeed. Thats great now you have more room for more bikes. LOL, you will never know how you ever worked on bikes without a lift. I couldn't do it without these days, my old muscles and bones ache too much. What you are working on these days any new bikes, mustangs?
Finally got here! Another fine video Dale. Nice work diagnosing that noise. Always a pain fixing the neglect of another. Have a great NYE and all the best for a happy and healthy 2025. Cheers, Peter.
Hi Dale, good catch! that is the problem with more than one person working on the same machine. one person thinks that the other person did what needed to be done, therefore something always goes wrong.
You shouldn't have to double check other people's work, but sometimes you do! Great diagnosis and recovery Dale. I'm lucky as the people that do my rebores seem to be as diligent as you are. Hope you had a wonderful Christmas, here's to another year of two stroke fun. Best wishes, Dean.
I agree Dean, you really need to use shops that know motorcycles, most of the Job shops in my area will not bore a two stroke. Think they have had too many returns because they just didn't know. It's up to the customer to tell them the clearance they want and that it needs chamfered. Otherwise, they just give it a WAG. It's not that they are not diligent, they just don't know.
Boy am I glad you are covering this cylinder. I am sure I will have to do the same de-burring scenario. What is the head bolt torque settings for the Yamaha 1970 AT1 E 125? I do own a new inch pounds toque wrench. I also have a foot pounds torque wrench.
I went back to the other video there is a ringing, its kind of monotone but gets alittle louder sometimes. Maybe that was it, i never knew rings could make that.

Thanks for the kind words BRP. Hoping to have lots more classic motorcycle videos in the new year. Happy new year.

Right on Rich, learned my lesson right here.
Nice job brother catching that problem. A very cool bike.

Good morning Dale, I'm ready to investigate just to see what you find.
Nice video Dale ... 👍
Gives an insight into developing an eye for detail and use of the right tools and the right amount of usage.
Thank you, I wish I had noticed it the first time.
Great job as always and great video 👍
I always thought the GT80 was the coolest little bike built!
Cool they are my friend.
Great video good job on the finish
Thanks Chad.
She really sounds great.
I agree John, wish it were mine.
good evening Dale!

very important that the wires don't touch the metal edge of the condenser can.
Yes, very important, will ground out.
anyway to describe what the sound was you heard that was caused by the ring clipping the port edges?
more ringy dingy than usual, and louder than just piston slap
Good job Dale!
Anyway, what is your dog name?
Thanks Luis got two dogs the one that is white, brown and black is Rascal, the solid black one is Zip.
I get smarter with every one of your videos..
Looks like the piston doesn't have enough support when it to the bottom of its stroke maybe or maybe not
What grit ball hone
Do you recommend?
280 to 320 is good for this.
I went back to the other video there is a ringing, its kind of monotone but gets alittle louder sometimes. Maybe that was it, i never knew rings could make that.
I did the same thing, there was something just not right about the sound, it needed to be investigated further.
