I love the MP5 and along with the B&T APC series and The UMP is still in the top tier in the 2020s... Crazy reliable, crazy barrel life, amazing on full auto, suppresses amazing, and sexy as heck. The only thing I wish that HK did would be if when they made the FBI MP5 .40 cals and 10mms in the 90s the added a last round hold open... But then didn't add it to the 9mms.. To me that's what makes the .40 cal MP5s the best ... I wish that HK came out with an A6 and A7 version were their 9mms had the hold open feature... If that was ever done it would make a literally perfect Smg

I was surprised once by a dude at the range who had full auto mp5s to shoot, and I shot an MP5K, and omg it was amazing. It lets me grasp what you're saying well.
I've got a safe full of sweet, tricked-out AR pistols that I love and have shot for years. But after 3 decades of looking for real HK SPs/MPs for sale locally (and never seeing a single one for sale), I finally stumbled on a used gen 1 K model this past summer, then an MP5-22 and MP5SD-22, and finally stumbled on a new SP5 in Sept. I too fell for the MP5 when Die Hard came out. The four MPs that I own have been flawless in terms of reliability, and they are a blast to shoot! I wonder how long the honeymoon will last. Hopefully it never ends! The MP5 rules! I don't mount any optics on mine (I've got ARs for that), because I want those classic lines. But I've got a couple of tritium front sights on the way, so they could still be useful at night.
I gotta say I caught your channel several months ago and seeing the content and production blossom (for lack of a better word) is awesome. This channel has the chance to grow enormously. 🥃 gents
The MP5 is THE sub machine gun. When you think of what a sub machine gun is or if someone asks you what you think when they say sub machine gun, it is the MP5. If you’re making a military shooter video game set anytime after 1960, the MP5 is the first sub machine gun you think to put in it. It is an icon for a reason. As much shit as HK gets for their pricing and lack of modularity when comparing to the modern AR 15 platform, they were the pioneers and really the only company back in the day who had any sort of modularity for their firearms. The MP5 has stood the test of time because it was first in and best dressed. I’d be very surprised to meet someone who’s a gun enthusiast who doesn’t have this on their list as a grail gun.
Great video. I lusted after an MP5 back when they were HK94s. I bought a PTR9CT a few years ago long before the HKs came out. It was over $1000 less. I did but on an HK trigger pack and ditched the rail that cam with it. No problems so far. I use it for home defense because my wife can shoot because of the low recoil. I have a SB brace on it, which required changing the rubber buffer to an HK part to make it run. I wasn't happy about the welded on pic rail, but I got used to it since I put on a micro re-dot. Good job!

Heck, I moved to CA from MI just so I could own a 911. Figured I could find a good used one without any rust, unlike in MI. But, the SP5 is on the list, and it will be mine! MP5’s are super cool, but I’ll still take my APC over one just because of the more modern features. Yeah, it’s direct blowback instead of roller delayed, but B&T got it right same as HK did.

Great video but keep in mind the MP5 is derived from the G3 in the same way an AR9 is derived from an AR15 and Vityaz is derived from an AK. It wasn't made from the ground up to be a 9mm submachine gun, it's just a shrunken down G3. With that said, I LOVE my MP5s and pretty much avoid shooting my direct blowback PCCs since the roller delayed action in the MP5 is too much fun.
I love my SP5L. Picked it up last month. It did come with a 16" barrel which I will have cut down to the standard 10+ inch length. I decided to put an SP4 collapsing brace on mine and the only personal preference disadvantage is the dual QD slot arrangement on either side vs a single QD slot in the middle like the end cap the pistol came with had. I did opt for a mid-height claw mount to allow for still using the diopter sights as backups, which I have a Trijicon RMRcc on. Shoots great, however, the BT low mount pic rail you have is interesting and there is even a T1 compatible one available that I'm still mulling over. Your BT pic rail version does offer more flexibility for optic options though. Still also mulling over replacing the hand guard. Your full Picatinny version looks nice, but there are also several M-loc versions are available. The HK proprietary "Keymode" system looks like a bastard child of Key-Mod and is also ridiculously expensive. Oh, the options!! Great review sir!
Let me hit you with another option that I can tell you works great that you may see in a coming video. Low top rail (the lowest you can find) with a scalarworks low mount (they’re lowest height). You’ll have an optic and can still index your irons
@@1911syndicate The MFI mounts are also excellent. I put one of those on a MKE MP5k PDW with a Holosun HS403R. The optic sits a bit higher than a Aimpoint T2 would because the base of the 403R is a just a few mm thicker even though the optics are very similar. I wanted a lower profile setup on the MP5k since it’s a smaller ‘bag’ gun. With that setup the dot sits above the front sight hood and the irons aren’t useable. I’ve got the same B&T low rail you have on my MP5 paired up with a Scalar Works absolute co-witness mount along with another HS403R. The irons are still useable by looking through the mount. I’m still getting used to that one since you have a lot more ‘heads up’ shooting position with the optic. Which isn’t really a bad thing for what the MP5 is designed for, it just feels different. If you want to use your iron sights at all I’d also recommend getting the diopter drum to replace the notched drum your SP5 has. The newer SP5 imports come stock with them now. It was really the only criticism I had for mine out of the box, but it was worth the $50 to change it out.
P.S. I was never interested in a K model, it was always the regular MP. But now owning both models, the K model is as fun as the full size. I don't think of it as a "bastard". It's every bit as good/cool as it's big brother.

Suppressors are what sold me on the Hk sp5s. I have both the sp5 and sp5k. If I have to say it. They are by far my most favorite guns now. There fucking dope. When i shoot my kp9 you here that bolt clapping really loud. When shooting the sp5, nice and quiet all the way around.

So I’ve never heard someone say something bad about CHF barrels so what’s exactly wrong with them I know stainless are a little bit more accurate but yeah so what’s the difference other than that??
The KCI steel mags also run well in the HKSP5. You can get three of those for the price of the German/HK mags. Also made of steel and have a metal follower as well. Avoid the the ETS polymer mags.
KCI new mags are Gen2 and they're much improved - basically impossible to tell a difference in quality between them and HK mags... and they're still a third of the price.
Mr guns and gear says remove you thread protector before putting the can on the trilug, if the thread protector comes off inside the can you will have very bad things happen and probably be out a can
I have the same optic rail and mro on my sp5. Only difference is I got an ADM QD mount for the MRO so I can remove it quickly. I got the b&t side folder but I like your set up alot. Looks great.
Very informative and entertaining video. I'm a big fan of HK but have not been able to justify the insane prices for an SP5. HKParts would be my last resort for parts or magazines though. I have found many online vendors whose prices are 15-25% less than HKparts, all with better shipping rates too.

Since pccs are still semi I’d rather take a ak pistol or other folding rifle caliber. But if we could get them full auto cheaper I think that would be a very valuable tool in the arsenal
When reloading, try push the charging handle with your right thumb from right to left, instead of slapping it. I'm lefty and this is seems little bit faster.

1911 Syndicate, If the like the MP5, try the MP5K-pdw. Everything, but smaller....can be CCWed. And the binary trigger is the best add on. I don't need full auto, but two at a time is nice when the target doesn't fall quick enough on the first round. And of course, the G3 is the same manual of arms, but bigger for when you want more stopping power.
I love MP5’s. It takes a lot for me not to make it through to the end of an MP5 video - positive or negative. This guys arrogance and condescending nature just kills it for me.
Good analogy with da 911. U fortunatley the MP5 was not purpose built. It is derived from the G3 in the same way the MPX Gen 1 and 2 is derived from the AR15 at heart. The Scorpion is more purpose built in reality and i have ZERO love for that clunky plastic gun. I own an MPX K gen 2 and an MKE Z5P so believe me i get the Porshe thing as i owned a 911 for about 6 months and with no damn glovebox it pissed me off and with the left side ignition,,until i hit the highway and everything in my mind went blank as i enjoyed the visceral experience of DRIVING the 911,,the MP5 hits the exact same brain cells,,good call Brah🤙

PCC….. cheaper to shoot 9mm than 223/556 or 762x39 in a short AR or AK…… and the smaller size is more useful for home defense and less risk (not sero) than rifle rounds of overpenning and hitting your neighbors, your kids, or anyone else. Yes 9mm will overpen too but not as bad as rifle rounds.

Mr guns and gear says remove you thread protector before putting the can on the trilug, if the thread protector comes off inside the can you will have very bad things happen and probably be out a can

I have the same optic rail and mro on my sp5. Only difference is I got an ADM QD mount for the MRO so I can remove it quickly. I got the b&t side folder but I like your set up alot. Looks great.
I’ve got that side folder on another gun that will be making an appearance in the future. Great stock

Very informative and entertaining video. I'm a big fan of HK but have not been able to justify the insane prices for an SP5. HKParts would be my last resort for parts or magazines though. I have found many online vendors whose prices are 15-25% less than HKparts, all with better shipping rates too.

Since pccs are still semi I’d rather take a ak pistol or other folding rifle caliber. But if we could get them full auto cheaper I think that would be a very valuable tool in the arsenal
My favorite part of the video is when the dog came into screen.
When reloading, try push the charging handle with your right thumb from right to left, instead of slapping it. I'm lefty and this is seems little bit faster.

1911 Syndicate, If the like the MP5, try the MP5K-pdw. Everything, but smaller....can be CCWed. And the binary trigger is the best add on. I don't need full auto, but two at a time is nice when the target doesn't fall quick enough on the first round.
And of course, the G3 is the same manual of arms, but bigger for when you want more stopping power.

I love MP5’s. It takes a lot for me not to make it through to the end of an MP5 video - positive or negative. This guys arrogance and condescending nature just kills it for me.

Good analogy with da 911. U fortunatley the MP5 was not purpose built. It is derived from the G3 in the same way the MPX Gen 1 and 2 is derived from the AR15 at heart. The Scorpion is more purpose built in reality and i have ZERO love for that clunky plastic gun. I own an MPX K gen 2 and an MKE Z5P so believe me i get the Porshe thing as i owned a 911 for about 6 months and with no damn glovebox it pissed me off and with the left side ignition,,until i hit the highway and everything in my mind went blank as i enjoyed the visceral experience of DRIVING the 911,,the MP5 hits the exact same brain cells,,good call Brah🤙

I would never use any full auto for home defense regardless of platform or caliber honestly. I’m in suburbia not Kabul

@@ChristianFarrington I was thinking it had to be either Sony or Panasonic, I’m currently running a canon 5DmkIV with the regular Ronin S, the set up is easier to transport than the M and monitor but the overall rig is still a bit bulky seems to be better suited for mirrorless and that SC has got my eye. Good shit, man lovin the content!

Nope the sling is snap hooks. But I did add a little para cord look on the back of the stock

PCC….. cheaper to shoot 9mm than 223/556 or 762x39 in a short AR or AK…… and the smaller size is more useful for home defense and less risk (not sero) than rifle rounds of overpenning and hitting your neighbors, your kids, or anyone else. Yes 9mm will overpen too but not as bad as rifle rounds.
Any comparison to a Scorpion EVO? Debating get a Scorpion now and deck it out or take time to save up for a SP5.
I have had Scorpion Evo, AR-9 and now I have a semiauto MP5 from POF (Pakistan). Trust me, just save up and buy MP5. You won't regret it.
