Thanks for this amazing video! Have been wanting to see how to access the cooler filter for forever! I have found that Mitsubishi part # 2920A096 includes the O-ring that is not available from dodge/jeep for the cooler. Also found nissan o ring part #31526-XMOA but have not actually used/verified it. Can verify the mitsu works and is the same for caliber.
Man perfect video. Easy for me as a beginner to learn and be like "oh that's easy" lol. I can't do the whole filter but if I just siphon the fluid, replace missing cap, and replace with new fluid would that help until am able to actually get under the vehicle for filter?
Just a question after watching your video that’s completely a doable job…I've had several mechanics tell me that the “filter is unserviceable,” also they’d have to crack the transmission in half to get to it. No one will touch it due to it having 167k miles on it. Why won’t anyone do a fluid and filter change on my 2008 dodge caliber?
Filters are serviceable in the Caliber line up….and several other….not wanting to touch it at 167k is just staying away with from “trouble” if a customer has issues after a fluid change basically not wanting liability very common with shops that don’t understand transmissions
Very useful and nice video. After watching your video I discovered that someone probably put the wrong oil in my transmission. Sometimes it works fine, sometimes it goes into limp mode and shows me a P0700 code on my 07 caliber with 88k miles. Do I still have a chance by changing the oil and filters immediately?

Mine has a kick and slip at cruising speed. It threw a code for the input speed sensor. They said it located in the transmission. Does that sound right. And if i fix is that going to potentially fix the kick or slip? Just a humble opinion would be appreciated. 😊
I only have 87,000 mi on an 07 and it keeps throwing me a warning light for transmission overheating is it suggested that I should probably try the CVT I've replace the water pump and the thermostat and it keeps throwing the same code and it's not the check engine light just temp light
So the dipstick is a tool and is only used to check fluid levels on CVT transmissions. It was purchased separately and is used for a number of vehicles not just this one
No need to buy that special dip stick , there is a hack and you can use the oil dip stick to check the level in the tranny, do a search online you will see how to and by using a metric ruler
Brought the car to the dealer and they changed the fluid and cleaned the pan filter, but they DON'T do the upper filter. In fact they don't even carry the part. Can I change the filter up top without dropping the pan if the car has been sitting overnight? I'd hate to lose all my new fluid.
Is it safe to change the fluid if its never ben done at 200k miles? I got the car from an uncle who passed away and the fluid was changed in the beginning one time at 30k miles? I'm doing this as a preventive maintenance the transmission seems to have no issues at this time. Is an 07 caliber with 205k miles
So I ordered that dipstick but it absolutely will not go in very far. It’s getting stopped by something in the tube. Tried several times before say F it. Whatever I’m hitting is chewing up the plastic tab on the end of the dipstick
Hello do you know where is located the output shaft speed sensor in a dodge caliber 2011 2.0 heat?the transmission doesnt move nothing at all and i got the code p0722..
Well not exactly asking a question here, im frustrated with the engineers, im a maintenance technician for an auto company, was a mechanic before, and never seen that bolt used as a drain, if i remember right the only way to drain that transmission is to drop the pan, That bolt on fords or any other trans is used as an overflow, where you remove that bolt and fill, engine running until it starts to come out, however, given the trans holds over 7 quarts, thats not the case here, because you would have aprox. 2 quarts left in the pan, that you cant drain from that plug. I dont work for dodge and havnt worked on many but where did this maintenance instruction come from.
@@justinsmith6860 so that side bolt we took out in the video is the service port to bring the level down to a manageable level so when you remove the pan it's not much to deal with.....could use a vacuum pump and get most of the rest out for less of a mess...we just learned over the past 2 decades how to do things easier than the manual states LOL
When i check my transmission fluid at operating temp my dipstick from AutoZone shows to be at about 36 and what is the optimal number that the transmission dipstick should be reading?
I gave up on trying to unscrew the bottom bolts (the 4th one) because it was such a pain in the butt. Any codes or lights on CVTs are generally noisy even when new because it is a slip belt design
