Could you please assist in this question. Is there a such a viral, bacterial, or immune disorder or medication that can cause a very similar dermal type of stucco keratosis, starting from the right foot travelling to the leg, thigh, tummy, arm, shoulder and hand. But only on the one side of the body. Only the right side. ANA lupus positive, with APLS for many years and warfarin Coumadin meds for years due to blood clots. Would you have any idea of what this one sided skin issue could possibly be?
Hypermobile Ehlers Danlos here. Yup I have these. Not too bad though. I do have them on my hands but probably only I notice them. I use to worry, before EDS diagnosis, that I might have a very mild form of neurofibromotosis and because that is so disfiguring, the thought of it was terrifying. Finally, several years ago, I decided it is calcium deposits. Glad you mentioned EDS in your video. Made me feel better. The information you provide truly helps so many people personally and helps us realize dermatologists aren't just for botox and to see a dermatologist specialist rather than trust our GP to know what's going on with our skin, one of the largest organs of our body. Thank you.
Thankfully I'm in my 50's with hEDS and only have had what my Dermatologist and Opthomologist surgeon say are very small xanthomas on my lower eyelid that I've had for over 15 years. May need to rethink the diagnosis, thanks!
Omg me too! I ended up having it exacerbated by an extremely bad experience with Mold that made me have these all over my face lymph nodes and in my organs I was 82 pounds and starting to recover after a four year battle with these being one of the main physical symptoms. I am just now learning about calcium deposits and did not realize that ED could be a factor.
It would be cool if you broke the video up into labeled chapters to give viewers an understanding the topics you will discuss and allow them to directly select a topic by chapter.
I developed calcium deposits on my forehead after receiving Dysport injections. For years, my clinician has used Dysport for me and I never had an issue. The only possible correlation is that at the of treatment I was recovering from breast cancer and the calcium deposits were the result of an autoimmune response. They were easily removed and I have not had that reaction in subsequent Dysport treatments. Thank you for your informative videos
RN (Oncology Nurse Navigator) here. Two questions: 1. Did your oncologist know you were getting Dysport around or at the time you were under chemotherapy? Also, 2. And you returned for further Dysport injections after this event? I would lay off of them for awhile. Good luck. ❤️
I have a little calcinosis cutis on my arm from an ancient bug bite. My doctor equated it with the way an oyster makes a pearl around a piece of sand just to cordon it off. It's kinda neat.
I have guessed that these are what I have all over my forehead. I have an autoimmune issue and started getting it around the time I noticed the symptoms of the autoimmune.
Our feet if on lower sides or heels it could be what are a diagnostic feature called piezogenic papules, sometimes only when visible when standing. Also my face has developed sebaceous hyperplasia little bumps but they have a tiny dip in center. Dr. Dray also did a video on those. My dermatologist and I have decided to try a topical strong retinal of Fabior foam first instead of oral Accutane or laser etc. since we with EDS have elevated % risk of developing long Covid and it's currently spiking again locally, especially because her office is attached to the hospital.
Yes! I had surgical extractions on both cheeks and in a few months I will start Fraxel laser treatments. I am pleased with the results so far. My diagnosis was confirmed by a biopsy when I visited my dermatologist.
I had a dermatologist about 15 years ago tell me the tiny white dots on my face are due to high cholesterol. He just scooped out the ones around my eyes and on my upper cheeks and I've only had one or two since then.
I would love for you to do a video on Dermatomyositis. Most people, including many physicians, seem to know very little about this disease and that can make it difficult to get a correct diagnosis early on in the disease progression.
Interesting topic today. Thanks, Dr Dray, for continuing to educate me on all of the different skin issues. Happy Thursday! I hope you have a blessed evening. 💙
I have Calcinosis cutis. On my fingers and elbows, when they come out, they look like white tiny rocks. They're ver painful. I do have Scleroderma, unfortunately. Thank you for speaking about this.❤
Can you do a video on causes and treatments of multiple lipomas. I have many small lipomas on my thighs, painful if I press on them. I’m starting to notice they are also forming on my arms. At my last TBC my dermatologist dismissed them as not a problem, but I would like to know more.
I have scleroderma with CREST and calcium deposits are a huge part of the disease process for me. They're most noticeable on the face (especially around the eyes and lips where the skin is thinner) and on the fingers and backs of the hands. In retrospect, calcium deposits, chronic fatigue, and IBS symptoms were the first warning signs. I had to get MUCH sicker and seventeen years had to pass before anyone could diagnose me. smh
I had two lesions to come up on my cheek 11 years ago and in 2020 they began being inflamed and painful as if I had shaved glass under my skin. The dermatologist said 4 years ago afpunch biopsy indicated it was keratin nd calcification, and that there was nothing they could do. This Oct I had a plastic surgeon to remove them and pathology diagnosed tissue as Osetemic Cutis. After the two bad ones were remove my skin seemed.to release the smaller.ones and I began to shed the gray powdery skin on the remainder of my face. I still have a few painful ones on my nose. I was told to find a dermatologists for future treatment. Should I seek a medical or surgical dermatologist!
What if your tap water is very 'crunchy' so much crusty buildup on the lid of my reusable water bottle, scale on shower? Can you get deposits in the skin when you drink tap water like this for years?
I get these thin keratin barbs that come out of my skin. They're hard and sharp and only form on my upper back and shoulders. Had them since puberty. Not sure what they are 🤷♀️
I started getting them when the doctor prescribed Vitamin D 50,000 per capsule. I also started to lose my hearing due to calium build up in my ears. Wth???
Dr Dray have you seen the new lotion line Target has released to replace their previous line of lotions? I checked out the ingredient list and it seems to have ceramides and urea and is super affordable
I love your videos and the way you present information. Could you please do one on pityriasis rubra pilaris (PRP)? I know it's rare, but I have a family member struggling with it, and it would be interesting to learn about. ❤
I have been struggling with money and when i do get money i buy fast food and sugar... Super bad i know.. and then some days i go days without eating.. it's been like this for a year... I always had clear skin but now I'm getting bumps on my forehead.. I was thinking it was antifungal acne... How to tell if its fungal acne or calcium deposits
I’m pausing this before I’ve finished watching. I’ve recently been diagnosed with Lipodystrophy, it’s on my left cheek, quickly growing. I’ve started getting hard white bumps. I haven’t brought it up to my doctor, there doesn’t seem to be any concern about the Lipodystrophy so I don’t expect concern about this either. I’m guessing the bumps are calcium. I’m concerned about both, a major change in my appearance so quickly at age almost 56 is not easy. After 25 years with the same insurance, we are getting new at the 1st of year. No more big HMO, hoping to find new doctor.
Fascinating! You are absolutely Brilliant! Thank you! What about hard white lesions inside the labia and when opened squeeze out white hard yet pasty material?
Hi Doctor, what is your opinion about Microtox used in South Korea? Also what do you think of this new firming cream called IL MAKIAGE? Is it safe to use regarding ingredients?
When I was a kid, I had these little hard bumps underneath the skin on my back. My older sister was picking at them and got a few out and they were grayish little pebbles. Later in life, my oldest son had a few of these underneath the skin on his back as well. What the heck? My pediatrician said it was "calcium deposits" and just dismissed it. Makes ya go, "huh?"
If this is calcium deposits wouldn't it be that your vitamin k is too low? I heard that if your calcium isn't going in the right direction it may be due to a deficiency in vitamin k... My daughter has bumps on her arms and they said it would be extremely painful to remove them. She was never formally diagnosed... Not sure if this would be what she has though. But the dermatologist said that it's harmless just irritating to her... But could this cause more issues if this is what she has?
How are you supposed to know the difference, so many things look the same, people say it’s keratosis pilaris others say fungal acne. I have skin coloured bumps all over my chest & back no idea what they are or how to treat them
I know it’s not always ideal, but sometimes you just have to buckle and see a health provider that specializes in skin, such as a dermatologist, as they are the ones with the credentials and tools to diagnose skin concerns
This is my issue. I have a few of these. Been wondering why no acne meds like BP, aha’s, pha’s, Azaleic acid, Adapalene nothing has dissolved these. I’ve already had a lichen thingy I had biopsied it wasn’t cancer it was an autoimmune thing they said. I thought these bumps were millia or tiny keloids which I tend to get even though I am light skinned those things do not discriminate. I’m seeing it’s time to go back to the derm
Dr. Dray, please do a segment on topical estrogen creams. Can they be absorbed through the skin and cause an increase in estrogen levels in blood tests? Do using them cause skin thinning the way cortisone creams do?
Please help my derm is booked out a yr and i just went last month .. she said i have sebaceous dermatitis on the scalp and rosacea/adult acne all of a sudden But i wasnt able to get the medication due to insurance and im going to get the otc med they recommended..she prescribed ketoconazole and clobetasol.. i feel like ive been extra flakey and have alot of hair extra shedding in the shower with the ketoconazole is that normal? And the clobetasol was supposed to be used for 2 weeks daily is it okay to just use it every few days or is it necessary every day for 2 weeks? And if i do not use it daily do i still need to stop using it periodically? All of it is making me nervous 😅 Anyone..ty!
I have had sebaceous dermatitis for years, with dermatologist recommendation to alternate ketoconosole shampoo (Nizoral) with zinc pyrithizone shampoo (not sure of spelling). I have rarely used my prescription for Clobetosol (spelling ? Again). So far my best results have been with Selsun Blue type shampoo followed by either Native or Aveeno shampoos, both of which have minimal ingredients. In fact, I have often found the Nizoral to leave me with itching as annoying as the dermatitis….It’s a hassle, isn’t it!
@carolynslesinski1381 yes ive noticed that! I've been baffled its like a crawly sensation for me and I was thinking maybe all the flaking would come off and magically be better but I see I have a road ahead. I'll try the selsun because I have like chunks of 10+ strands coming out in the shower with ketoconazole. I've never had any of this until this past yr 😤😓
I've struggled with seb derm my whole life. I have a constant prescription of 2% ketoconazole shampoo now that's the only thing that works for me. My seb derm is very mild now that I'm treating it consistently, but it used to be really bad. Pretty sure it made my mom cry once during a particularly bad flare-up when I was a kid. I do know that my skin gets flakier and my hair starts falling out more when it flares. Flare ups for me can be caused by diet, stress, or irritation. Personally, over the counter dandruff products don't work for me. I'm allergic to the zinc based active, whatever it's called. I'm also mildly allergic to sulfates and some other things. If I use any dandruff shampoo with any ingredient that causes irritation for me, it does more harm than good. This means I do best using products okay-ed by the national excema association in general, not just on my scalp, but everywhere, as my seb derm can flare if I get an allergic reaction somewhere else too. (RX prescriptions are usually safe, unless you happen to be allergic to the active. They avoid putting known irritants in them, although it can happen.) I have found some products that are safe for me that aren't excema-safe, but I worked my way up to finding those after finding a very safe base of necessary products. All this to say, could allergies be your problem? It's possible you're allergic to something in the prescription that didn't work for you, or in another product you use. Could even be something you're eating or something in your environment. My excema and seb derm even flares with seasonal allergies. It's also possible your scalp is simply healing and flaking off the dead skin (and taking some hair with it), depending on how long you've been on the treatment and how bad it was before. If you've ever seen a baby with cradle cap (which is the same condition), you'd recognize how much flaking there is when they grow out of it. That's because they healed and the scales are falling off. These flakes grow around the hair, so can take the hair with them when they come off, especially if they damaged the hair folicles underneath while it was flaring or trapped hair that naturally shed during that time. I guess I can't say for certain since I don't know you, but I can say it took a while for mine to heal once I got it medicated. It wasn't an overnight thing. It took a few months to reach a baseline, maybe more. I know very little about rosacea, so I can't help much with that other than recommend products okay-ed by the national excema association. Tldr: You're likely going to get a lot of flaking from seb-derm as it heals. Itching too. That being said, make sure you aren't allergic to anything you're using, eating, or are around. If you're unsure, try taking an allergy med for a little while and see if it improves symptoms. If it does, an allergy is making it worse. And if all else fails, limit products to very mild and gentle versions (I mean well-tested ingredients, not natural), completely cut out unnecessary products like unnecessary skincare/makeup/ etc, and make an appointment for asap. If you're concerned about a specific product causing an allergic reaction, patch test it. Put it somewhere unaffected by seb derm/rosacea/acne, and see if it causes irritation.
Is overconsumption of calcium-based antacids a contributing factor? What about a lack of magnesium? Before I became 100% carnivore (except coffee and tea), I practically lived on antacids because plants kept me queasy and heartburny all the time. I do not need antacids any more, but wonder whether the body just gets so much calcium it has to put it somewhere and you end up with calcinosis cutis? Just wondering. I hope after a year and a half the excess calcium is gone.
Disappointed, no preventative information. No solution other than medical intervention. Just more medical mumbo jumbo. This video prolly helps one remember all the medical verbage that parents paid thousands of dollars for.
Dr. Dray, I have the hard itchy bumps. Years ago I had some removed & they were very hard like a rock with a point but they eventually came back. What else might help, laser, or peels??

I saw those hard things on the pimple popper they were removed and she did a fantastic job.

I would love to see a video on Behcet's! It's rare to see anything about it, particularly how it affects the external skin and can look like acne
Hmm I have EDS and have noticed these small white bumps on my feet and forehead lately. Interesting to hear you mention that in the video.

It can also be miliary osteoma cutis. I was diagnosed with this condition on my cheeks. They are small calcified bumps under the skin.
Is there any treatment for it?
Yes! I had surgical extractions on both cheeks and in a few months I will start Fraxel laser treatments. I am pleased with the results so far. My diagnosis was confirmed by a biopsy when I visited my dermatologist.
So many skin conditions. they all pretty much look the same. How do you keep them all straight?
I don't think they look the same though
I have Rheumatoid Arthritis..i have calcium lumps around my joints..where the heat and acid has burnt not only the joint but the connective tissue.
One more reason that Vit D should always be taken with K2.
I had a dermatologist about 15 years ago tell me the tiny white dots on my face are due to high cholesterol. He just scooped out the ones around my eyes and on my upper cheeks and I've only had one or two since then.

My boyfriend has dermatomyositis. He was diagnosed at 16 years old.
@ Hope he is doing well. It's a pretty rare disease so finding the right physician was key for me.
If you take tums you increase your stomach pH and a very low stomach pH is needed to use calcium properly.
Thank you for providing photos along with your various topics. Once again a very helpful video ❤
Wow I have never heard of calcium deposits in the skin or face. 😮
Interesting topic today. Thanks, Dr Dray, for continuing to educate me on all of the different skin issues. Happy Thursday! I hope you have a blessed evening. 💙
Wow. I left a comment asking you about milia some weeks ago. I have quite a few autoimmune disease. I’ll bring this up with my doctor.
Okay PLEASE now what are the solutions???❤
Happy Thursday Dr Dray so excited to be here i live for this❤️

I have Calcinosis cutis. On my fingers and elbows, when they come out, they look like white tiny rocks. They're ver painful. I do have Scleroderma, unfortunately. Thank you for speaking about this.❤
Would castor oil compress or some drawing ointment bring it to the surface?
No, that doesn’t work.
Dr Dray you look radiant. ❤
She really does 💖
I had an uncle died from complications of Crest Syndrome. It attacked his lungs and he died a very painful death
So it’s not excess vitamin D it’s vitamin D that is not taken with vitamin K to magnesium zinc, and a medium chain triglyceride.
Thank you for this. I still have pieces of glass in my face.
Can you do a video on causes and treatments of multiple lipomas. I have many small lipomas on my thighs, painful if I press on them. I’m starting to notice they are also forming on my arms. At my last TBC my dermatologist dismissed them as not a problem, but I would like to know more.

No discussion of oxylates.
Thank you
Is overconsumption of calcium-based antacids a contributing factor? What about a lack of magnesium? Before I became 100% carnivore (except coffee and tea), I practically lived on antacids because plants kept me queasy and heartburny all the time. I do not need antacids any more, but wonder whether the body just gets so much calcium it has to put it somewhere and you end up with calcinosis cutis? Just wondering. I hope after a year and a half the excess calcium is gone.
I disagree with the D-3 over dose material.
Oh no is this what I have on my forehead.
LYPODERMATSCLAROSIS Please address this.
I have these!
My mom has these and she thinks they're either cysts or milia
The guy at the coffee shop said I was Calcinisis Cutis
Disappointed, no preventative information. No solution other than medical intervention. Just more medical mumbo jumbo. This video prolly helps one remember all the medical verbage that parents paid thousands of dollars for.
Another doctor said they were cholesterol
Dr. Dray, I have the hard itchy bumps. Years ago I had some removed & they were very hard like a rock with a point but they eventually came back. What else might help, laser, or peels??
interesting!!!
