Excellent point. There are all these noobs on TH-cam trying to teach large format photography and many have half a clue what they're doing. For example focusing a view camera correctly. There are mountains of old books that have deep knowledge of film photography in them which ought to be preserved. The current fad in film photography online is ridiculous and unnecessary pushing of film. Many think that this is artistic expression and will make their images stand out somehow, rather than actually focusing on creating a good picture. Most good photography comes from studying other images and really challenging your own creativity.
Hi, I have stumbled across your videos and I really enjoyed them. It's such a breath of fresh air to see someone who actually knows what he's talking about, without all of the "magic of the large format" bullshit. I wish you would make more videos. TH-cam needs more of this type of content - no nonsense, no slick production values, just good, solid, reliable information. Please post more.
Absolutely! I have the three books by Ansel Adams, The Camera, The Negative and the Print, and Using the View Camera by Steve Simmons, they are all great books. You make great points, we need to look at the material by the masters of photography, there is well over 60 years of experience in the Ansel Adams books alone.
Dear Mr. John. Thank you for the knowledge and great experience you share on your channel. When I discovered the first video, I reviewed all the others in a row and was delighted with your way of presentation. Lots of knowledge and experience summarized in short articles - great! I was blown away by the video with the fresnel lighting and the way you modified it, the story of the large format camera types and tripods, the filters, and the great books you recommended. Greetings from Croatia - EU, and I can't wait for the next video.
Thank you so much for the kind comments. I was able to travel to your beautiful country as a representative of Kodak shortly after the fall of the Berlin Wall. More videos will be coming soon.
@@largeformatlife9141 Thank you for your kind words. I do hope that you will be able to travel again to Croatia. It would be my pleasure to show you around.
Like your content, waiting on more 😁
I have enjoyed you videos and have over the last couple years used much of your info helping me decide on various purchases . Thank You 😊

Great advice.
Looking forward to the next one! I also share your concerns.
Hello sir. Love your straight talk videos! Are you still shooting film?
I have Ansel Adams trilogy but have not seen the others. How do we recognize the rest of the series?
