Yayyyyy wayward children! I’m officially on #3 ! I actually liked down among the sticks and bones more than every heart a doorway, but still loved both.
I'm also super excited for Francina Simone's Smash It! Also Daughter of the Serpentine by E.E Knight (this series so far has the most beautiful covers imo) And Nala's World by Dean Nicholson (Another September book lol)
I am currently reading The Whisper Man as my March Read-along! I am liking it so far and excited to see another novel is coming out. Don't Look For Me sounds great!
Ohhhhhh I didn’t even realize the similarity of the Alex North covers! How cool! I liked the whisper man I think I gave it 4.5 stars but I was left wanting more, i think that it was a debut? I hope this one is even better!
Up All Night sounds super good! but it totally threw me for a loop when you mentioned it because there's actually a YA anthology with that name already! I just remember it really creeping me out when I was younger so I think I need to re-read it. I would love to hear your thoughts on both of them!
Wow quite a few books I’m also excited for, and some I’ve never heard of. You should definitely give Jennifer Lynn Barnes a try I’ve read four of her series’s all young adult, one paranormal fantasy, one contemporary mystery, one crime mystery and one cheerleading spies. Great video and keep up the amazing work 😀
Have you ever read anything by a writer called Michael Clark, he has two books written so far and is working on the third. The first one is called “Patience of a dead man” and the other is “Dead woman scorned”
A book comes out on March 17 called When the Sky Eats. It’s by K. Weikel. I’m currently reading it and I think that it could potentially mix with your weird fantasy tastes. It would be a 50/50 chance of you liking it or not.

I love these videos so much! I'm always on the lookout for recently announced books and I miss a lot even if I'm constantly checking my goodreads feed.
This is spooky but I seriously said exactly what you said about Ruth Ware this afternoon with my mother who asked about the author’s works. No joke but told her about you and how you recommend her books because they just get better and better with each new book. Then I looked up if she had a new one coming out this year and added it to my tbr on goodreads. Spooky.
I’ve read a few of her books and I just can’t get into her but I wish I could so bad! It’s like she just rips off agatha christie books. The one coming out this year sounds exactly like “and then there were none”
@@belletoro3100 I don't think it sounds like a rip off at all! 😅 lots of current day mysteries are inspired by classic ideas! same with movies. there are hardly any unique ideas anymore, everything have to come from somewhere! I think if anything books like this are paying homage to those who paved the way in the genre.
The first thing I do with these videos is open Goodreads haha! I absolutely love these videos for finding new interesting books I haven't heard of before :)
Definitely give the Jennifer Lynn Barnes book a try! I’ve never read anything from her that I didn’t like. Her Naturals series is a really solid YA thriller series!
Loved this vid ❤️ Jennifer Lynn Barnes (The inheritance game) wrote a really good mystery book last year... I think you might like? It’s called The Lovely and Lost. It’s also quite short... 328 pages and a quick read. ❤️
Are you excited/heard of for The Ivies (2021) by Alexa Donne? The blurb is: YA thriller about a group of prep school elites who would kill to get into the college of their dreams-literally.
okay these books had me 🤤, I added two we were restless things and smash it , September is also the month The Midnight Library by Matt Haig comes out, if he finishes it 😅
Kayla! Have you read The Hunger by Alma Katsu? It's historical fiction and I don't recall if that's one of your things that you don't like, but it's a reimagining of the Donner Party tragedy with added supernatural elements and sorry I'm just obsessed with it now
K. Ancrum has another book that came out in 2017 called The Wicker King. It might be right up your alley if you love her writing style! It deals with mental illness and codependency in a fabulist/magical realism sort of way. www.goodreads.com/book/show/33158541-the-wicker-king

You gotta know about Here the Whole Time by Vitor Martins. It's a brazilian ya book about a fat gay boy who has to live with his crush for 15 days during summer vacation. It's SO CUTE and heartwarming.
I tried to tweet you and recommend a book on Goodreads that I think you’d highly anticipate! 😃 It has a PODCAST and it’s a thriller. It’s called “I Hope You’re Listening” by Tom Ryan
I just want to recommend a book to you that I just finished reading today: The Mercies by Kiran Millwood Hargrave. It is a historical fiction novel set in the early 1600s in northern Norway, about this small village where all the men suddenly died (this is based on real events) in a storm and the following three years where the women of the village have to survive and later deal with inteference from the outside. The plot is partly about the treatment of the indigenous people of Norway, the Sámi people, and is also a feminist story, about the treatment of women during this time in history. There is also a lesbian love story sub-plot. It was beautifully written, and well researched - I am norwegian, and was very impressed by how accurate it was and the amount of research the author clearly has done in order to write a story set in this time and place.

Are there any authors that only write in anthologies? It sounds like the author of the second book you recommend in this video writes mainly short stories and in anthologies so I bet there are some authors you know that most people don't because they only pop up in anthologies. It would be an interesting video I think.
So today I was at Barnes and Noble looking for a book called Girls With Razor Hearts by Suzanne Young. I went up to the middle section of B&N where it’s just a circular counter with employees and the credit card machine thingy, and ask “Hi, do you have the second book to this?” And point to the first book I have in my hand. She thought I was trying to buy a book, and I’m just a teenager so I doubt she thought I was gonna pay for it right then and there. She says “Oh! I was gonna warn you...” then she makes a gesture to the credit card thing. I was a little embarrassed not gonna lie. So I ask her if they have the book and she looks it up for me. It doesn’t come out until the seventeenth! I said “Oh, sorry. I knew it would come out in March but I thought it already did.” And then walk away very embarrassed 😂
