What a ridiculous judicial system in an advanced country, where the actual law doesn’t matter but the politics of the defendant and judiciary do. Commentators glibly state so and so won’t get this decision as the judges are Democrat or Republican, what about what is right and wrong?

because the accusations of inciting an insurrection (taking of the Capitol Building involved at least 200 undercover federal agents who were trying to "entrap"/using entrapment) to arrest protesters that were demanding that Congress verify the anomalies of the 2019 Presidential elections. Without there being any accountability or compliance, the Congress (with a Democratic majority) did not verify the legality of the results of the 2019 Presidential elections and unilaterally voted to impeach Trump for insurrection. The thing is verifying the integrity of the election process is a duty of the head of the Government (President Trump at the time). Even Associated Press admitted that 1% of the entire universe of votes had anomalies (above 1% of 325 million votes is over 3 million votes and Biden "won" by just 10 million votes) (popular votes don't determine Presidential Elections in the U.S. the electoral College does, and each state has Electoral College Members and the number depends on the amount of registered voters). Can the President (head of government lead an insurrection against himself??) Were any of the Congress members arrested, was Congress abolished, were any of the congress members attacked or coerced into verifying the integrity of the election?? or anything close to real proof of "inciting an insurrection" (were any of the protesters armed? How many Congressional security personnel were shot/killed defending the Capitol Building?? The only death was a woman shot by the Capitol Security, she was unarmed and not doing anything violent (jumping into a window when shot and then died from blood loss, because it apparently took a long time for her to be transferred to a hospital..."There is no worst blindness than of those who refuse to see"... Jack Smith was told to prosecute Trump for the insurrection of January 6th 2020, but what insurrection are they talking about?? Where is the proof??? they had 3+ years and they wait until Trump is the leading candidate of the opposition to prosecute and sue him in 91 different trials??? (Lawfare: using prosecution for political gains).

I was hoping the title was 'trial before execution'.Trump's arguments never rise above 'entitled, grasping, greedy child'. The Judiciary is about constitution and law. The House and Senate is pretty well pure politics, so being found guilty in that arena does not need the burden of proof, indeed proof can be ignored if it suits the politics. For what Trump is accused of (and is guilty of in my estimation) it must be decided by the judiciary without fear or favour. The issue of impeached or not is political and has no bearing on guilt.

When Trump predicted "bedlam" and talked about "opening Pandora's box", I was reminded of a very unsettling video that I watched yesterday on the Russian Media Monitor channel entitled "Experts admit that Russia is hoping for a civil war in America". It's almost as if Trump is promising that very thing.

It should be interesting to see how they decide. They set precedence now that they threw abortion rights back to the states so they should also say the states hold the rights for elections, as stated by the US Constitution. The citizens will judge the Supreme Court's decision. It's a sad day when/if the courts let politics into its decisions.

Hey I geuss you guys aren't living in the USA, but that's no excuse for not understanding that there is no more Republican Party in the USA!
If you're a professional journalist, you should not be saying that the GOP are "Republicans" Party: they have completely been a fascist party since 2016!
Please stop insulting actual Republicans who left the party in 2015 and 2016!
Also, it is untruthful to call fascists "Republicans", because Fascists want very different things than Republicans want, and you are warping people's perceptions of the issues and dangers that we are facing in the United States!
Not that it's your fault; it's basically our fault!
