So many good memories of Wallsend Forum, going shopping with me mam. Sausage rolls and iced fingers. Used to have a brilliant sports shop!

In later years I loved the bakers oven, great sausage rolls from there

I’m a Wallsend lad born in 1971 so this brings back so many memories for me. My mum worked in the Co-op cafeteria on the 3rd floor and I still have a fear of lifts from getting stuck in that lift on many occasions in the early 80s. After leaving school (burnside HIgh) in 1987, I started work part time at Presto at Byker and spent some time working in the Wallsend branch. Had fond memories of shopping in Prestos as a youngsterand then going over to the wimpy for a drink with my nanna and mam. I don’t live in Wallsend anymore but when I occasionally venture back along the high street and the forum, it’s sad to see it’s demise like all high streets just full of charity shops, vape and betting shops now :(

Another great video, thanks Julie. I lived in Thames Street long before the Forum was built. We moved to Howdon in the mid-50's so I don't have many memories of the Forum. Our old house was about in the middle of the Co-op.
    Keep up the good work!

The tiles in the Forum shown on the early pictures were made by the Thermal Syndicate

I loved prestos, my main memory though was a heavy storm one year in the summer and going to help sweep out the flood waters

I remember Ghurus for clothes. It was next to or near Levels. A trip there on a Saturday for an outfit for the local disco. Happy days! Offvut rolls of wallpaper from Levels to back my school books. 😀

I remember that shop too, the years of my youth spent trailing round clothes shops with my friends, happy memories.

I remember a couple of men's tailors on the High Street side where I bought suits to go to work - was it John Colliers and Hepworths?
