    Everyone is amazed at him not crashing into others. I’m amazed at the fact his car flipped 5 times and he left with no major injures this is truly a miracle.

      Very good point. When I was a little kid my dad was in a big wreck, tumbled off the freeway and they spent a couple hours looking for me. Dad ended up dropping me off at the babysitters a little before. Miracles. And in case anyones wondering, my Dad survived and was healthy after some staples and stitches.

      @@Potheadahh The 5r55s isn't horrid by any means and it would've had no issue shifting to neutral, he simply forgot.I've even somehow shifted mine into reverse coming from a stoplight at about 60 mph because I stupidly pressed the button on the left side of the shifter that prevents exactly that for some reason,heard a bunch of grinding ,I put it in neutral right away and pulled over hoping I hadn't destroyed the transmission and fortunately I didn't.The only issue with the stock 5r55s is the weak input shaft so you can't just go from cruising speed to WOT downshifting multiple gears at once.But if you gradually but quickly lay down the throttle and downshift one gear at a time you will not have any issues.The input shaft is a non-issue for drag/stoplight racing and outside of that the transmission is no better or worse than any other slushbox auto of that time period.

      Switch to neutral, brake and even hand brake. On a manual it's way easier just do some compression to 1st and stop.

      I remember a family of 4 or 5 was killed when their brakes were stuck and going over 100mph. their 911 call is public and it's disturbing. they collided with a truck i think. listen at ur own risk.

    Happened to my family when I was a kid and we were leaving our family reunion in Canada. Fortunately my mother got the car stopped. The way the motor starts roaring as the car keeps accelerating is crazy. A random guy saw what happened and followed as us. He was able to temporarily fixed it and we made home safely. I always thank God for that guy and his blessings that day.

      just press the clutch all the way down, switch to first gear, once you slow down put the foot on the clutch again so it's not accelerating and try to find an uphill way or an edge so your wheels get slowed down and come to a halt.

      Only if you press down hard enough to stop right away. If you play around pumping the brakes at high speed and letting it drag on for too long, they can overheat and stop being effective.

      @Francisco Franco I have taken a class for out of control vehicles, more for black ice, etc because I live in the north but yes, it works. It doesn't slow it from 60 mph to 0 immediately, but your transmission has gears for a reason. Anyone who drives a manual transmission understands the gears. Throwing it into neutral or low from drive lowers the speed. Then, once safely under control, move to the shoulder, drop it into park, or use your emergency brake.
      A follow-up class for emergencies really should be mandatory.

      @@pinkyogurt6359 As a HPDE instructor I have three pieces of advice when something mechanical fails in your moving car. First knock the car out of gear (manual or automatic). Second turn the ignition off and then turn the key back to the accessory position to keep the steering wheel from locking. Because it's out of gear it won't "push start". Third use the brakes to gently slow down and stop. Avoid heavy braking because the brakes will heat up and become less effective. Then go buy a lottery ticket.

    Same thing happened with the Toyota back in 2009. Everyone died in that crash. Prayers to the ones that died in the Toyota crash just for the gas pedal being stuck.🙏🏻

    It’s a miracle dude survived, and his decision was absolutely selfless and shows he’s a good person. And like they said at the end of the video, if you notice the accelerator is stuck, immediately shift into neutral. All cars allow you to go into neutral while it’s moving. Once it’s in neutral you can start applying the brakes and try and pull over somewhere safe. Don’t try to unstick the accelerator until after you’ve pulled over.

    If this happens to you in any car, you can shift to neutral easily, without the need of the brake. Than pull over immediately then shut it off

      can't be done in many 2021 or later BMW... if accelerator is being applied(for whatever reason, including being stuck), the shifter will not allow the vehicle to be shifter into neutral when above 35mph.

      I'd shut it off first. You might lose power steering but at least you won't blow your engine over a stuck linkage. Something a $5 can of WD40 could fix.

      Yeah I was going to say the same as Tim depends on the car. My car does not shift into neutral without use of the break, which is why I’ve almost gotten into accidents in the darn car wash more times than I’d like to admit. This might not work for all cars

    Had this happen a couple years ago on I-95 in Jacksonville while merging onto the highway and into traffic. Ended up the accelerator got stuck under the floor mat after it had come loose. I can personally attest to what the guy from AAA said at the end of this video about throwing it in neutral. I was able to do this and get the mat off the gas and it saved me in that moment. You never expect something as random as that to happen but you hope to remember these kinds of things under pressure. Glad this guy was able to walk away from it too!

    This is terrifying. I remember watching a TH-cam video about the same thing happening to a family their vans accelerator got stuck and the 911 call was haunting. Sadly they didn't survive this ordeal. Glad this man did and the fact he thought about not hurting others if he was going to die this way says a lot abojt his character

    I heard of a similar story several years ago. Four or five people were in a car traveling on the highway at a high rate of speed, and they could not stop the vehicle. No one survived the crash. This guy is a walking miracle! I will be shocked if he is currently driving. The fear and anxiety of getting back behind the wheel stick around for a while due to these traumatic experiences.

    This man had his guardian angel 😇 with him. I had an experience like this once, and I have no idea how I came out of it alive. My car flew across the interstate and crashed into a concrete barrier. I can only say....It was the Divine who saved me. This man is so blessed.

    Wow. As a person, who has experienced a complete brake failure 25 years ago, I can appreciate how terrifying that is. Thank God he came out of it. Yeah, neutral!!

      @@RampartPh A leak in the master cylinder. I was going about 40 mph and approaching a red light with a car already stopped at the light. Brake pedal had no pressure. For a second or two I thought about bracing for the impact. Just before the car, I made a hard right turn into a parking lot at the last minute and miraculously the pressure momentarily came back enough to pull into a parking space!! The panic is tremendous.

      @@vikramgupta2326 I’m glad you were able to get away without hurting anyone. You’d likely have hurt the person in front of you more than yourself. Sadly a young mother just passed away in my hometown when someone sped behind her stopped at a light and crashed into her. Except he was under the influence so sort of different than your situation.

      @@monicarenee7949 Thanks. Yes, I was extremely fortunate also because that lot I turned was actually pretty small with a busy ice cream stand with lots patrons seated outdoors very close by. Another footnote. I was asked later if I used the emergency (parking) brake. Answer, no, didn't even occur to me in the stress of the moment.

      @@monicarenee7949 And you're right, referencing your local case...being rear ended at a stopped light is one of those situations you have no control over. Scary to think how much of our well being is actually dependent on the actions or inaction of another person or uncontrollable factor. Even going thru green lights I'll often scan the intersection for rogue drivers potentially going thru a red light.
