Let this be my lesson on teaching an old dog a new trick. That single spiral spring launch system is not only brilliant but it's low maintenance, reliable, sturdy and cheap to make. I will have to remember this idea for future projects
Wow, that is the first time I have ever seen one of those toys. I bet that is a rare spring cannon that shoots wooden projectiles when you turn a crank in the rear. It looks much better and it works like a charm too. Excellent work.
Weiter so.
That was fantastic. Fun to see you do something mostly wood, and that mechanism was pretty interesting. Amazing how simple things can be. Thanks for a great video as always.
@brunocastro119 - For one, how could any rational person believe or feel a toy cannon in any way even remotely endorses war or violence? Further, the "crucial" message mentioned is a feel-good message that is unfortunately not based in reality. We live in a fallen world where humankind has never consistently loved one another as the Lord teaches us, so there will always be wars until He returns.
I live in a country with a frightening and alarming history of violence. The previous president made it easier for ordinary citizens to own guns, which led to a drop of 23,000 homicides per year. On the other hand, the current president, a leftist (a Democrat), banned them again and created barriers and new prohibitions... The result: there is already an increase of 30,000 homicides per year, surpassing previous years... The largest number of crimes are committed not with the common weapons that good people carry, but with simple and banal things like kitchen knives. Should we stop showing videos about cooking too, since they show such terrible utensils? The data is there and only those who are not sincere and who deny true information speak against the right to defense and to live. Criminals rely on violence and use lies to achieve their goals of killing and destroying; the Bible already says so.
This is a beautiful work that you are doing, sir. I hope that you will progress and always be successful in performing such wonderful works. I follow you from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and I am very impressed with your channel and your works.❤❤❤
I wonder if this wasn’t an American toy from the Second World War. From Pearl Harbor to V-J Day, sheet steel and tin, lead, and rubber went to the war effort, forcing toy makers to make do with paper, cardboard, composition (which would turn into mush when it got wet), raw pine (though sometimes better grades of wood were used), plastic, and what little metal that was on hand. This toy made clever use of available material, but that it survived in any kind of shape is amazing. The inferior toys from this period were fragile, and either broke or wore out after a few play sessions. Intact survivors that aren’t total wrecks are rare.
That looks similar to a Maxim gun, so I'm guessing it might be a WWI-era toy. I've never seen anything like it before, and the restoration looks great.
@@ForgottenShineRestoration I don't know, it's just the style of gun would be from WWI, and it's mostly made of wood. The first TH-camr I can think of who might know more would be @TheFabrik - he really knows vintage toys, so maybe he has some insight into this one.
I agree. This feels like an older toy then something from the 1920s or later. While the original weapob has multiple barrels, the hand crank in particular reminds me of a Gattling Gun -- an early machine gun from the 1870s or thereabouts.
Given that it bears a superficial resemblance to a German MG08 (the mount is very much a near-exact copy of those used in the actual MG08), it may have been 1) Made in Germany, and 2) it was made sometime between adoption in 1908 to the early 1930's when these where removed from service...
I really enjoyed this video, it's nice work. I was hoping to see you perhaps coat the wood in a wax or an oil. Lovely restoration though. I have subscribed.
Saw this video in passing an I can't help but wonder why everyone wears gloves for everything. What !? Did everyone lose their balls in the new generation
Do you not wear gloves when repairing your car engine? Or fixing the plumbing? Or handling wild animals? Or working in the snow? Or disposing of corrosive chemicals?
I was surprised to see the spring was still working... and that ending with the smoke sure got me😂 excellent work
🤣🤣👍🐢 Thanks!

I never cease to be amazed at your skill, you have golden hands and a very good imagination! You are the best master in all of TH-cam!
oh wow, thank you very much for your great compliment!🐢

Awesome restoration job on a toy that last many more years to come.
Nice job! I would have painted the projectile silver. Love the design!!
Looks like an artist's interpretation of a contemporary Maxim gun. Really neat.
I swear I saw DIY blueprints similar to this in the back of an OLD Popular Mechanics magazine.
At 12:06 , a crucial message for nowadays and the future, ending perfectly another amazing video. Congratulations !
Thanks so much!🐢

@@quarto-h7i Well said.
What a clever and durable design!
I love your videos. lots do restoration but for me you are the best. thank you
Thank you so much! That means a lot to me!🐢
I got this toy from my father when i was a kid. The colors were different. The round gun was glossy black and the mount was unpainted wood color.
Must be good memory for you. It's amazing that you still remember this

I just found one like this in the attic among my dad's old toys. amazed to see how it works. I may make some projectiles.
Hello TH-cam colleague ✌🏼
Cool video.
Greetings from Germany!
Hey bro. Nice to see a comment from you under my video. Greetings back from Germany as well!🐢
Wow, they really don't make toys like they used to...
😅😅🐢
Now they’re safer
No...they don't.
Russian WW1 and WW2 Maschinegun

Just in time for the holiday season 😊. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year 🎄🥂
Merry Christmas and Happy new Year! 🐢
I loved this! Great job!
Thank you! 🤩🐢
Great work, from an age when toys were great. Happy Christmas to you and yours 😊
That's true, many things are no longer worth what they once were... I also wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year🐢

It looks great and you did a wonderful job restoring it as well!!!!
I enjoyed your video so I gave it a Thumbs Up
Thanks a lot! 🐢
Great job! Love the green.
Thanks a lot! 🐢
Lovely work. Perhaps you should seal the wood for future generations.
Very good job!
Thank you very much! 🐢
Excellent restoration 🐢

Thank you very much and welcome to the team🐢
Nice ! Any idea when and where this toy was made ? It looks a little like a German MG 08...
Good job
Thanks! 🐢
Cool toy 😊
Hail to Turtle the Hero! Happy Holidays, friend!
Thank you very much! Happy holidays to you too!🐢
Externally, it vaguely resembles a german machine gun MG08 on a sled
Way cool👍Are there plans out there on how to make it my nephews would love it
The army men from toy story would love this
Nice, well done
Thank you very much! 🐢
sehr schön wieder mal 🙂
Vielen lieben Dank! 🐢
Where did you find that canon, do you know how old it is? I do have the exact same at home but couldn't find any information about it.
Kompliment 👍👍👍
Dankeschön! 🐢
Beautiful restoration mister beautifully restored well done
Thank you! 🐢
Very nice result. Even turtle is happy and smiles !
😁👍🐢
Looks like an old German MG08
Nicely done. 👍
Thanks! 🐢
I had a little plastic turtle scrub brush exactly like that when I was a child. It's been bothering me, where is it from?
Well, I just had her in a project to clean and somehow a love developed from that... I think I got Turtle from my wife's grandfather... 🐢
Why new projectiles weren't the originals metal?
No, the projectiles that came with it were also made of wood...🐢
Nice
Thanks! 🐢
Next time: measuring glass restoration.
Is was a really simple design but damn it's robust as fuck.
Really nice restoration, it will make a beautiful christmas gift
Thank you very much, yes the old designs are simple and effective🐢
🤘👍👍
Can't lie this toy is genius tho change the wood with metal you'll break windows
😱😱😱🐢
It's turtle time. 🐢🐢🐢🐢🐢🐢🐢🐢🐢🐢🐢🐢🐢🐢🐢🐢
🐢👑🐢👑♥️

Schneller kurbeln 😆🤣🤪
🤣🤣🤣👍🐢
😊😊😊
Be cool to see a new one made exactly like this one but machined out of all metal not wood
ah, interesting! I didn't expect that, thanks for your input!🐢
The wood glue when hot be looking like fungus
Looks like a Gatling gun kinda
🤗
Hahah i thought it was for sausages 😂😂😂
🤣🤣👍🐢
It's a beautiful picture, perfectly shot, I liked it. I looked at how a valuable exhibit was destroyed and turned into nothing, and I got a dislike.
4:10 what is THAT thing
Iron saw blade 😂😂
For someone that owns a lathe, it blows my mind that you would still pit small pieces in the drill just to sand them.
This is just to show how you can do it, because I suspect that very few people own a lathe 🐢
@ForgottenShineRestoration just common sense though
🇻🇪👍🏻😁
That aint no canon is am mg08
Why don't you have any video sponsors? You have the views go get that money
I dont know🤷♂️🐢
time to battle ...
😏😏😏🐢
@@ForgottenShineRestoration but it is ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
MACKEREL AHH CANNON!
🤓👏👏
Did you get permission from the government to own this cannon?
of course! Queen Turtle personally issued this permit to me🐢
Looks more like a sausage maker than a cannon LOL
Thats true! 🐢
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
🥃👍👏🥃👍👏🥃👍👏🥃👍👏🥃👍👏🥃👍👏
Looks like the original projectiles were made of lead.
Didnt need taking to bits to restore it. It would have cleaned up good as it was.
Doubt it be lead. They be better used to make decorated toy soldiers. Wood is economical for this sort of toy...
It looked great before and like crap after you “restored “ it 😮
Bro literally just spray-painted the barrel green😂
Goofy ahh mackerel ahh red thing cannonn ahhh
