A lot of these are also used in taekwondo. For same purpose, strong legs. But instead of just knee to the elbow, we stretch the leg fully before going down.
I once or twice managed to make 1000 squats/session for 2 days, rest days of months only 250 squats. You can imagine how huge calves/feet I have now even after interrupting exercises...
Be careful, it's a martial art and not self défense !It's totally different, it can help with if you've got a very great skyll level, and not if you're learning muay thaï on vidéo.... Be careful and take care of you

For having generally skinny legs, Muay Thai people be having some of the strongest legs and kicks.
They created micro fractures in their bones that makes the bones grow even harder and stronger
