    Dear God sir! Awesome terrain table sir!! I mean it sir!!! How big is the table sir!!!! Please make more videos explaining and teaching us how to play this awesome game. I’m learning a lot sir! Your videos are the best Crossfire videos on TH-cam sir! Others just do battle reports that keep newcomers wondering “but why did he or how did he do that.” But you do your magic sir! You explain it all so clearly while keeping us immersed in the action. You are a great teacher and I salute you sir!!!

      Thank you for your kind words! I really appreciate your generous comments. I would love to make more videos and it’s very motivational to hear comments like yours. I am so busy with life and a young family that it has become more difficult. Again thank you for your comments and I hope you enjoy playing the game yourself!

      I love how the wargaming world is a small world unto itself. I am very impressed with your table though, it looks great. I'm a steep budget gamer, so as I get into Crossfire, it will definitely not look as pretty :) But I'm expecting will be just as fun!! Your second video is great as well. Your videos have really helped the rules come to life for me.

    Curious how arty, air and armor works.
    Close assaults are unforgivable!

    • @JD77ATH

      Thanks Todd. Arty, air and armour have in my opinion never been satisfactorily handled. I use house rules. I hope in the very near future to show some different rule systems and how they work.

    In the close assault, one German squad was attacked, one other was close enough to give support - but all three squads (the full platoon) were removed after losing. Why was the third squad taken out (at least I believe there were three)

    • @PatrickvanGompel
      @PatrickvanGompel ปีที่แล้ว

      What you see is very likely a house ruled version: it is not the original CrossFire rules.
      The rules say that ONLY the attacking squads touching the target + commander, and for the defender only the target squad + commander/FO are involved in the close combat. And the losing side ONLY loses the involved (and not the whole platoon as in the video).
      It seems a bit unfair that the US squads are allowed to fire through their own squads (during the close combat) but the Germans are not (for reactive fire).
      In the example as shown, there could not have been a close combat, since not a single US squad is touching a German squad. If they actually did, on the road there would have been only space for a single US squad and maybe a Platoon Commander to attack the suppressed German squad + PC.

      Thanks matrix! This post on my blog answers some FAQ's regarding the table:
      warpanda.org/setting-up-the-battle-cloth-qa/
      There is a mat (painters drop cloth with caulking and grass flock) which is placed on batting (which I use to form hills) and I then place different terrain pieces that I've made on top...I might go into more detail of how I did the various pieces in a later video as I'm asked this quite a bit :)

    Hey
    Thanks for your two crossfire tutorial videos.
    Since a few days I'm very interested in this game.
    I'm still figuring out how to get the manuals of crossfire to Germany and how to make a fancy board. I want models to be removable AND look good. Are you create this board by your own? =)
    I wonder from where you come from. I think britain, because you said pound. But you talk a little other british english as i usually hear from britains. More O tone in the O's. As the old english for east (Aust like Austria)

    • @JD77ATH
      @JD77ATH  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +davekachel Thanks, and yes I made the terrain myself. It's a drop cloth for painting made with caulk adhesive and flock and paint in various places. So it can be rolled up.
      Excellent detective work ;) I'm from the Rep of Ireland but now living in Canada.
      If your struggling to get the rules mailed I believe scribd has it; you can join with a 14 day free look:

      Lots of options out there. Decide of the scale or size of mini you want. I think cost and storage limits might be considerations as well as personal preference. 15mm, 20mm and 28mm being particularly popular. 28mm is better for smaller skirmish type gaming IMO. Peter Pig (UK), Battlefront (Google Flames of War) for 15mm. 20mm or 1:72 scale has lots of options with soft plastic being a cheap alternative if you just want to get into the game and see do you like it. Won't recommend soft plastic if you intend to paint them though. Google is your friend. Best of luck with you search 😊

    Hi, I have got a question for you. In minute 15:20 you decide to move the american infantry that was involved in a firefight with the germans away from the bushes and flank the germans. Why can't the german infantry stop them to move away from the bushes with reactive fire? Don't they have LOS to them? Why did the American then had LOS to the Germans to open fire, I really don't get this situation.

    • @JD77ATH
      @JD77ATH  9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi, its a little confusing because the movement of the video makes it look like the platoon involved in the firefight initiate the flanking maneuver but if you listen carefully at 15:21 I mention that the American player switches to 1st platoon who is held up in the house after their assault on it earlier. It is from the house location that 1st platoon launch the attack using the hill to keep them out of the LOS of the German platoon (the hill blocking LOS is more apparent in reality than the video) Once 1st platoon enter the road however they would under normal circumstances be in the German LOS and the Germans would be allowed to react fire. But since the nearest German unit/squad to 1st platoon are suppressed they cannot react to the US movement. Moreover that same suppressed unit actually block the LOS from the other two German squads of their platoon...the suppressed German unit is directly in the way to the advancing US 1st platoon and since units cannot shoot through friendly units this allows the US to advance unmolested. Hope that makes it a little clearer.

    • @JD77ATH
      @JD77ATH  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Lots of options out there. Popular size or scale are 15mm, 20mm and 28mm (although imo 28mm is more suited to smaller sized skirmish games. For 15mm Peter Pig (uk) and Battlefront (Google Flames of War) and 20mm or 1:72 have lots of options (AB minis being one of the most beautiful imp) another cost effective alternative in this size is soft plastic but I wont recommend if you intend to paint them. Best of luck with your search
