Nail on head. Free speech is not about the freedom to say awful things, it's about the freedom to debate, discuss and even disagree. The alternative is basically North Korea, so be careful what you wish for.
No, not reallly. Either speech is free, or it isn't. Saying "awful things" is fundamentally where the commitment to free speech is tested.
Thank god for these people - both lovely, and incredibly important in this insane cultural climate we are living through.
