  • In celebration of the remarkable contributions of Leonardo Bonacci, a Middle Ages mathematician better known as Fibonacci, McMaster mathematician Dr. Gregory Cousins will lead an engaging discussion to celebrate the upcoming National Fibonacci Day. His talk will explore the fascinating idea of integer sequences, and how integer sequences, including the Fibonacci Sequence, appear in surprising places, such as nature, art, design, and more. Beyond mathematics, Dr. Cousins will also emphasize the importance of keeping the field of mathematics inclusive and accessible to everyone, highlighting its relevance across disciplines and in everyday life.

    About our speaker:
    Dr. Gregory Cousins is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Mathematics & Statistics at McMaster University. His research focuses on mathematical logic, exploring the foundational aspects of mathematics and its applications. Dr. Cousins graduated with an Honours, BSc in Mathematics from McMaster University in 2012, completed an MSc in Mathematics at the University of Oxford in 2013, and earned a PhD in Mathematical Logic from University of Notre Dame in 2019.
