The one musical I recommend to absolutely everyone is Come From Away! It’s set in a small island in Canada and follows the people after planes had to emergency land there due to 9/11. It is beautiful and heartfelt and funny and just demonstrates how beautiful and accepting humanity can be to those in need
Okay but I cried multiple times during the movie??? Emotional musical numbers always get me, but I cried during the FIRST NUMBER??? Actual unstoppable tears during all of Defying Gravity??? How dare they, honestly!
My favorite musicals are “In the Heights” and “Into the Woods,” the original stage shows for both, more so than the movie versions. I also love “Newsies” and am going to see a local production of it tonight!
I have been running around my home singing Popular. So I get it girl. I'm 52 and I am a theater/broadway/musical girlie too. I have a hard time getting my friends to go to the movies to see this. They would love it I am sure! Love this theme, and the suitcase was brilliant.
I haven’t seen anyone talking about these, but my favorite musicals of all time are The Rocky Horror Show and Kinky Boots. Both are so fun and chaotic but have you thinking about them and their messages for a long time. I can absolutely recommend these two. After seeing Wicked the movie, it is now probably my biggest goal to see it on stage!
I adore SIX - the Tudor history nerd in me gets so happy over it and the songs are so good! I also got to see Beetlejuice on Broadway when i went to New York a couple of years ago and The Lightning Thief when it came to Florida!
I just watched Billy Elliot as a musical and I forgot how good it was! I watched the movie when I was a kid, so it was magical to watch it again as a musical as an adult✨ I was so amazed by the kid who played Billy, he was only 12, and he had to act, sing, dance ballet and just be main character. Amazing work 👏🏻👏🏻
falsettos is my absolute favorite musical ❤ the focus on relationships between characters is so amazing i dont think i can put into words how much it has impacted my perspective on life and gsgavagahhd its good!
Back to the future- happy and nostalgic Something rotten- clever and funny Anastasia- Disney and minor songs Little mermaid Seusical- fun and characters Some that come to mind! I'm such a MT kid! ❤️✨ Love this so so much, the illustrations are amazing! I saw the movie and i literally cried so much, smiled and it was wonderful!!!
Omg. So I’ve been a lurker on your channel for years. I think this may be the first time I’ve commented, but I had to come on here and show you some written love for this. As a musical theatre kid you totally understood the assignment!!!! Let me add to your list. There are a lot of movie musicals that are a must see. Obviously, live performances are always preferred but we work with what we have. Uh uhm: Chicago, West Side Story, Phantom of the Opera, The King and I, Miss Saigon, The Flower Drum Song (that’s an old one from like 60’s but I think you would like it). That’s all my feeble brain can remember at the moment. I may come back to add to the list later. Also not originally a musical but The Greatest Show was an amazing Movie
Come from away will always be one of my favourite musicals, but lately I've been obsessed with &Juliet. Such a fun, high-energy musical with just the best popsongs all wrapped into a show.
A musical that I love is Epic. It just got finished actually, and the songs are absolute bangers! Also I love your art, it's always nice to see it pop up on my feed :)
My daughter and I are huge Wicked fans. We’ve seen it twice on Broadway and twice in Dallas. For her 16th birthday, we lucked into front row tickets right behind the conductor. An amazing experience! My daughter was a musical theater kid and one of her last shows was Aida (pronounced I-ee-da). It was an amazing musical that will make you laugh and cheer and cry. I was set designer and props for her group, so I got to hear all those beautiful voices many times. Go see it! You won’t be disappointed. 💯😃
I loveee musical theatre and seeing this made me so happy! Also, my favorite musicals are Dear Evan Hansen, Anastasia, Six and Tick, Tick... Boom! I also share the feeling, I get emotional whenever I see a musical, tears just come out and it's just real happiness :) thanks for doing something beautiful for December
OMH GOSH FIRST! ily so much Amanda... you r my inspiration for art!!! i have been watching you for 5 years now.... love from Indonesia! u r killing it!!!!!
omg amanda i didn't know you were a theatre fan! no one mourns the wicked & what is this feeling are definitely in my top 5 wicked songs, i love them SO MUCH
one of my favorites to recommend is six (the 6 wives of henry the 8th but make it a pop, concert-style musical that's silly but also about womanhood and the erasure of women in history) . i recently saw it in boston and it was so, so good
❤ this wicked theme and love the lightning you used for this video. Even it is not usual December theme, I so love it and glad you followed your heart. 🥰
Some of my favorite staged musicals are Little Shop of Horrors, The Little Mermiad, Titanic, Wedding Singer, Footloose, Beauty and The Beast, and Between the Lines. Some of my favorite overall songs Suddenly Semour- Little Shop, She's in Love and Sweet Child- TLM, Pop The Question- WS, Belle-BATB, Hopelessly Devoted- Grease, My Shot- Hamilton, and literally anything from Between the Lines rn because I just closed the production last month. I might be a little bit bias, but my top favs are Do It For You and Allie McAndrews.
If you haven't given it a listen, I can't possibly recommend 'Ragtime' enough. Its an incredible story with some of the most amazing music and heartstopping, gut-wrenching lyrics. The original broadway cast has some of the GOATs of Broadway, and its currently in the process of a revival with the original composer! Ragtime is truly a MASTER CLASS of storytelling through music, and it never fails to make me emotional.
i had such an obsession with wicked after seeing it on west end some ten years ago, looking forward to seeing the film too. really like this theme and your set up with the lights and colours was just gorgeous!
love love love wicked!! personal favourite musical is definitely Crazy For You,, little bit niche but the soundtrack is incredible and there's a few versions on youtube that are so so worth watching
I cry every time I think about for good. Every time they did a nod to it in the movie, I’m crying. Seeing you make a spread with the lyrics, I’m crying. All in all, I’m crying lol
Omg I love it. Musicals are my jam. I love every single song from the greatest showman. Les mis I love look down, at the end of the day, I dreamed a dream, abc, on my own, one day more and do you hear the people sing. Mamma Mia 2 is also my favorite. I love when I kissed the teacher, one of us, Waterloo, why did it have to be me, andante andante, name of the game, knowing me knowing you, Fernando, super trouper. I also love la la land. My favorites are the audition, another day in the sun, a lovely night. Frozen 2 I love the next right thing.
Oh my gosh amanda you have outdone yourself!! This was beautifullll spoke to my soul 🥹🥰 im a musical theatre girlie too and it’s so amazing to hear more people getting into Wicked!!
First, I have to say you are a PHENOMENAL artist!! Second, my favorite musical of all time is Les Miserables. I saw it in person 6 times, and one of those I was in ‘standing room only’. My fave song from it is ‘Bring Him Home’, and ‘I Dreamed a Dream’, but I love all of the songs throughout. ❤️
Aida was incredible, I was lucky enough to see it on Broadway when I was in high school. I think I would pay an obscene amount of money to see it again if they ever tour!
Epic: The Musical. I don’t think the show has even been written in full yet, but the music is amazing. Best songs imho are My Goodbye, Little Wolf, God Games, I’m Not Sorry for Loving You, and 600 Strike… so far. 😊
I found this after searching if anyone had a Broadway bullet journal spread! This was so inspiring for the show I'm currently fixated on. I want to make it the theme of my whole 2025 spread. You should absolutely add it to your bucket list. It's called Maybe Happy Ending. It's the hot new one in NY and it's justified. Current Tony frontrunner.
Yes, I know it’s a cliche by now but she’s really holding space with that cover. Also, yet another reminder that I’m so inspired by these covers. I finished my 2024 digital calendar and it’s come out so good.
I absolutely love this spread and the movie too. One of my favorite musical is Hairspray and my favorite song from it is without love. I only seen The Lion King live but I would love to see more especially The Phantom of the Opera.
I’m a woodwind doubler so my favorite musicals are in two categories. To sing along to: Wicked, Mama Mia, Kinky Boots, Shrek To play in the pit orchestra for: Miss Saigon, Gentlemen’s Guide to Love and Murder, Mary Poppins, Wicked, Les Mis, Beauty & the Beast, Music Man
if anyone wanted to adapt this theme to be more holiday-ish, i think it would be fun to keep the font and swirlies and change the colors, and maybe make the bubbles look like christmas ornaments! i absolutely love wicked, it's the first broadway soundtrack i was ever obsessed with because my mom played it in the car when i was a kid (even just the instrumental 'for good' used in this video made me tear up lol) i work in theater so i have worked on more shows than i have seen and one of my favorite scores for a musical is a little night music--it's a pretty underrated sondheim show and i wish more theaters would do it because its just so good
favourite musical movie: sweeney todd!!!! i saw it in person too as a community run production and it was amazing. other favourite in person shows i’ve been to: aladdin, les mis, wicked
Hello Amanda, nice job this month. Have you heard about 'Mozart L'opera Rock'? it's a musical that shows Mozart's life in a very theatrical dramatic way. You can find some songs in TH-cam. I particularly recommend 'Le bien que fait mal', 'L'assasymphonie' and 'Tatoue Moi' but they have a lot more. I hope you like my recommendation 😊
WOW ! That's just so incredibly creative and it looks amazing. Wicked has never been my "universe" but your set up could make me reconsider my interests ! 👏👏👏

Love this theme so muchhhh! Anyway, my fave musical is Company, which I never got the chance to see live (I live in Asia 😔), but what I really do want to see on stage is probably Gypsy. Also, I can’t wait for part 2 of Wicked, would probably cry my eyes out the moment I hear “For Good” 🥹
