the problem with greed, they can make enough money if they move away from gambling, the explorer NX package proved that, but they focus on SSB and p2w because they know some people without control will spend 1000 players money worth

i 100% think reboot was only ever meant to keep gms alive. they *hated* that they also had to have reboot because they were probably trying to keep the two servers as similar as possible. now that gms is able to become its own thing, they kill reboot almost immediately
MapleStory is like the longest-running Kdrama at this point, except the plot is so predicable - we have a "nice summer hyper burning event" followed immediately with a "wtf is this piece of junk controversy". Are they hiring any scriptwriters these days, feel like they can use one or two.
bosses get stronger and harder (obviously) on purpose to actually tell players that reboot players cannot progress anymore without the perks of bonus potential. in a way, they just wanted to kill reboot as im sure they would actually recognize it as their biggest mistake of releasing it in the first place. we all know that they have tons of solutions to allow reboot players to continue progressing, example, unlocking more FD sources (through buffing the reboot beginner skill or at least through some questline etc or make another reboot exclusive arcane symbols that grants fd) exclusively for reboot to match with regular server, which obviously they wouldn't because why would they? or even possible, marginalize the HP for reboot bosses according to what they should have instead of 1:1 of regular server, since there is an obviously dpm cap difference from what players can achieve from both servers. gms reboot was already receiving these treatments through slow "bug fixes" and eventually will follow kms reboot updates, but of course that would have killed gms reboot which most of their player bases are and eventually players were able to fight off these foreseen server progression.
there are still many ways reboot world could be helped, but they just don't want to do it. simple as that. Could lower boss hp/pdr a bit, could increase fd bonuses, could have new potions that give more dmg etc.
its a simple calculation, it's how much damage you get from priming scrolls + bpot and add it to the top of final damage. Or, add bpots + scrolls at reboot and sell them just like cubes for mesos and remove fd passive, that way damage would be calculated exactly the same manner you calculate it in reg servers, so no more drama
It's hilarious they developed a transition timeline and system to convert reboot to a regular server rather than just adjust future bosses for reboot. They obviously know the data about regular vs reboot clear times and comparitive strength between both servers so they obviously can just adjust bosses very simply.
Why not just buff reboot to meet the new boss requirements like they nerf the shit out of reboot doing to people feedback on kms reboot which was a dumbass move to do now they like why reboot can not clean it like they take away the power kms reboot have with the meso netf the fd nerf the skill nerf and have ever dam boss have more hp doing to reboot was killing them fast like no shit this will end up like this so they only option is to turn reboot into a normal server without ever try to fix the problem like i hope gms see this and not go this way if they do say good bye to the player count

You should look at the gowest slides. Inkwell acknowledges that more players play reboot in GMS than KMS. So I think they know not to mess with reboot in GMS.
I'm confused because wouldn't adding Bonus Potential alone get reboot players to the point of clearing HLimbo + future bosses? Clearly they have the ability to do it since they're changing the entire server to a reg server.. I wish I knew more about KMS to have more info to go off of but this sounds like some bullshit lol. In fact, you can play KMS regular world in a reboot way (free to play) as they don't have crazy legacy / cash items, totems, and crazy Fams. For GMS, the incoming new bosses, job balancing, and new contents will not take reboot/heroic world into consideration anymore... For example, they will continue buff NL as they are very bad in KMS
Say really with the route that GMS is taking i believe that reboot will stay reboot but will get additonal potential, with all of the totem , familar along with the additonal pot it should be enough?

Why? KMS isn't like GMS. You can play on a reg server comfortably in KMS and progress without feeling like you have to spend a fortune. KMS reg servers are basically like reboot in GMS because KMS doesn't nickel and dime their playerbase like GMS does. Reboot in Korea wasn't even a popular server. So rather then waste time and money fixing something that barely anyone uses they just merge it to the regular servers.
kms reg is unlike msea or gms reg, they have an actual economy there and its possible to be full f2p and liberate in reg (steve for example) as gear dont have absurd prices.
I'd prefer change reboot system into being assigned by charactor, which means to make a charactor cannot do transition for making a new charactor or existing reboot server charactors, instead of remove the whole gameplay system. Of course, the reboot buff should be keeped.
Now people should have a sense why GMS has decided to remove their roadmap notices last month, they already knew about this decision of KMS removing reboot ahead of time. Things could very well change for GMS as well soon.
Was it not the whole reason for reboot server to exist cause the regular server was so money hungry they made reboot not about that...but now that regular servers and reboot servers are practically going to be the same just minus trade (reboot) why WOULD anyone be playing reboot over regular now (other than having established characters) or am i missing something?
Easier grinding both gear&meso. GMS X6 as a base, no nerf boss crystal, x6 base Meso obtained x Meso obtained POT is super insanely fast grinding to starforce and cubing

And then KMS reg players seeing KMS reboot players moving to GMS reboot having fun and not spending, gets unhappy and starts another protest on Nexon KR hq, forcing them to change GMS to be like KMS too.
GMS shattered records in this financial quarter, according to Nexon's Q2 investor relations presentation on August 8, 2024 (likely due to the Go West campaign). If Nexon decides to force GMS to match KMS because of KMS player complaints, Nexon better hope their shareholders will accept "player complaints" as the reason for why revenue growth for Maplestory GMS stopped and dropped. More realistically, Nexon will force GMS to enforce more strict legion-locking and revise their terms of service to clearly ban the use of VPNs.

Because they dont want players to join reboot. In a business stand point, their regular servers make way more money than reboot does and reboot was taking many players away from regular servers. What's the point in playing regular when you can do everything the same in reboot worlds.

You can trade, transfer equipment between characters etc. The people that stayed in Interactive did it because they ENJOY that playstyle. Adding stuff to Heroic isn't going to suddenly make the majority of players want to switch over.
This is horrible, they are taking 10 steps backgrounds and lying about it. Call it what it is, reboot isn’t as profitable, therefore you cancel it. Players enjoy the challenge and you could’ve easily buffed KMS reboot instead of cancelling it. Horrible decision. Would quit GMS if it ever happened here.
They won't, at least not in KMS. What's the point of playing regular server when you can do the same in a free to play server. Their money maker is regular server. In gms they might because reboot is their money maker

Why would GMS be affected? Unlike KMS in GMS reboot is the popular server most play on. In KMS most play on regular servers. KMS isn't like GMS where they nickel and dime the playerbase for all they are worth so it's reasonable to play on a reg server and progress at a decent rate.
KMS reboot players are most likely going to migrate to GMS. I've got a bad feeling that KMS reg players are gonna be unhappy again and they will start another protest wanting GMS to be like KMS too.

First, there's the Many Mesos drop-when people find out that Reboot is going to be deleted, they'll start frantically farming and saving money until the server shuts down. At that point, they can take their full inventory of money and use it to buy gear in the Auction House. Also, Reboot's P pet can be bought with NX, and the pet it's even permanent. But the most important point is that cubes can be purchased with Mesos in Reboot, so everyone there is fully equipped with 3-line exclusive stats potential. If the Reboot mechanics are removed and the server is turned into a new one, it will just lead to a flood of 22 star overpowered gear, excessive Mesos, and everyone having Permanent P pets. In gms you can buy the rare-epic ones in the auction house. The fancy ones (glowing and bright) are only available in the cash shop or some event shops. But you can also buy Maple Points using mesos. In other words, you can buy almost everything using mesos in gms =)
Lots of gaslighting coming from him, the real reason why Reboot is getting removed was because cash cube got removed and they can't sustain Reboot upkeep cost without taking a hit on revenue. Wonki visits MSEA once and realized they can still make tons of profit as long as they close both eyes on regular spenders and whales committing cash trade. Play Park made 22m revenue last quarter from MSEA alone, a server with just 9k players and less than 200 MVP Red. Imagine what Nexon can make from a server with 200k active players.
it really strikes as malevolent since they say there is too much rng in reboot needed to clear new content. Ok, you are the developers you can fix that. But you can't buy cubes with nx on reboot so no can do we gotta go nuclear and convert to reg server.

I played MS many years ago. Recently, I wanted to start again, but I dropped it after a few hours. It is too convoluted and complicated for new platers.
It’s really not that bad. I started playing it again about 2 years ago after not playing for like 15 years. Just had to google a couple things and the rest wasn’t that hard to figure out on my own. IMO it’s just as complex as any regular mmo out there

GMS should just: give back EXP to reboot, give some FD back, make things like FAMS less RNG or let us scroll or Bpot, and that'll be it, don't need the transition. its just a power spike like when they released flames.
Lmao the amount of braincells they have managing Reboot server. They have multiple ways to allow catch up like increase FD, add B.Pot or even allowing scrolling. But no got to remove it after multiple nerfing from fd to mesos earnings.
GMS players have not historically cared much about being able to clear the hardest boss as soon as it comes out so I don't think this will really be an issue. But an easy solution is to expand the party size from 3 to 6.

If the average reboot CP is ~300m while reg is ~700m for the new boss, a 100% FD isnt practica in the long run.However, perhaps they couldve ported in additional potentials into reboot and made equips like Breadth of Divinity available. My impression of the situation is that there were far easier fixes, but they wanted to kill the server and are pretending to care about late game progression.

I'd prefer change reboot system into being assigned by charactor, which means to make a charactor cannot do transition for making a new charactor or existing reboot server charactors, instead of remove the whole gameplay system. Of course, the reboot buff should be keeped.
Now people should have a sense why GMS has decided to remove their roadmap notices last month, they already knew about this decision of KMS removing reboot ahead of time. Things could very well change for GMS as well soon.

I can get the same gear results from buying off the AH (with mesos gained from grinding and trading) in regular servers for less time and effort...and in most cases cheaper to!

You can trade, transfer equipment between characters etc. The people that stayed in Interactive did it because they ENJOY that playstyle. Adding stuff to Heroic isn't going to suddenly make the majority of players want to switch over.
This is horrible, they are taking 10 steps backgrounds and lying about it. Call it what it is, reboot isn’t as profitable, therefore you cancel it. Players enjoy the challenge and you could’ve easily buffed KMS reboot instead of cancelling it. Horrible decision. Would quit GMS if it ever happened here.

Why would GMS be affected? Unlike KMS in GMS reboot is the popular server most play on. In KMS most play on regular servers. KMS isn't like GMS where they nickel and dime the playerbase for all they are worth so it's reasonable to play on a reg server and progress at a decent rate.

In gms you can buy the rare-epic ones in the auction house.
The fancy ones (glowing and bright) are only available in the cash shop or some event shops.
But you can also buy Maple Points using mesos. In other words, you can buy almost everything using mesos in gms =)
Lots of gaslighting coming from him, the real reason why Reboot is getting removed was because cash cube got removed and they can't sustain Reboot upkeep cost without taking a hit on revenue. Wonki visits MSEA once and realized they can still make tons of profit as long as they close both eyes on regular spenders and whales committing cash trade. Play Park made 22m revenue last quarter from MSEA alone, a server with just 9k players and less than 200 MVP Red. Imagine what Nexon can make from a server with 200k active players.
U can apply ur logic to gms heroic(reboot), how long they can survive especially less population at gms reg spending money.

I played MS many years ago. Recently, I wanted to start again, but I dropped it after a few hours. It is too convoluted and complicated for new platers.
It’s really not that bad. I started playing it again about 2 years ago after not playing for like 15 years. Just had to google a couple things and the rest wasn’t that hard to figure out on my own. IMO it’s just as complex as any regular mmo out there

GMS should just: give back EXP to reboot, give some FD back, make things like FAMS less RNG or let us scroll or Bpot, and that'll be it, don't need the transition. its just a power spike like when they released flames.

They have multiple ways to allow catch up like increase FD, add B.Pot or even allowing scrolling.
But no got to remove it after multiple nerfing from fd to mesos earnings.
GMS players have not historically cared much about being able to clear the hardest boss as soon as it comes out so I don't think this will really be an issue. But an easy solution is to expand the party size from 3 to 6.

My impression of the situation is that there were far easier fixes, but they wanted to kill the server and are pretending to care about late game progression.
