I don't have very full lips, but I do have a wide aperture when buzzing... it's just how my embouchure developed, and having a "Cupid's Bow" shaped upper lip probably has a lot to do with that. While trialing the H1 mouthpiece, I started with a 17.25mm H1 rim. I could notice a distinct improvement in response and flexibility with the different rim geometry; however, it felt just a little tight for me. I then ordered a second rim in 18.00 mm, and when I tried it, my horn came alive in a way I haven't experienced in years... it's astonishing to think that just a 0.75mm difference would be such a huge improvement!
Thanks for this video. Can you tell me what a Bach equivalent size would be for a Laskey 6 1/2-s or 7 cup.. Maybe because I’m an intermediate trombone player, I believe the more narrow the cup is the better endurance I have, and my articulation seems to be clearer. That said if my chops are fresh I can play bigger mouthpieces, and I the sound is better. Hope you’re doing well. Paul
That was wonderful. I found it very interesting. As a beginner, this is the kind of discussion I was looking for. Thank you.
