If you're staying in LA, this is only about an hour away and is an absolute must see museum. The collection is all French, and all fantastic. The docent led tours are thorough, informative - but when you are finished, the best part is that you can wander at will throughout the collection. There's also a fantastic art deco collection including what I'd call a gentlemen's club/bar area and some Carlo Bugatti furniture. The presentation of nearly everything is stunning and you should budget several hours to drink it all it. Highly recommended.
Hey from Paris, have a look on "la cité de l'automobile de Mulhouse" it's a museum i east of France, the greatest in Europe. They have 120 Bugatti among others. Nice watch.
Here's a link : th-cam.com/video/418W0DhU3Mg/w-d-xo.html, at 26:20 to 26:45 only two Bugatti Royale six were made, the most expensive cars today on earth.
I fully agree. The most beautiful car in the world. Great collection. Congratulations. Great walk through. So informative. Thank you. Looking forward to my visit
@@mosca3289 it's not all a see. I see beautiful works of moving art, but as someone who views the world much in that way I also see beyond that and am staggered by the lack of, something that it takes in times like these to choose to be completely un analytical about opulence.
*"I don't know which is greater, these fine autos...or these priceless stories that birth them. Salute to this video and auto enthusiast all over the world."* ✨👍
It must be the effort the curators put into embellishing, polishing, adding to, and telling these most improbable stories to a point where they actually believe they are true !!! Ever realised how much "bigger than life" people with money are ? Very big EGO's is the answer to your question. The cars are just what was made at the time.
@@Dvco33333 Very entertaining. Just pointing out that YOU may have a life as entertaining as these incredible stories also if you put your mind to it. No need to listen to what others seemingly did; "care of" curators who are doing nothing with theirs.
These are wonderful cars that are fun just to watch. It's a great collection. It was a good time when designers ran the pen as they wished and outstanding craftsmen shook their arms to shape it. How beautiful....... Will be overwhelmed.
These cars are just absolutely breath-taking. So beautiful, the fact they are functional is almost a trivial afterthought. However, when you consider the artistry of these cars, the age they were built (no computer, no printers, just slide rules and pencils), compared to something as childish as the Tesla Cybertruck, which looks like it was drawn by a 1st grader with a red crayon (because it will go faster with red), accentuates how remarkable the designers of these vehicles truly were. Fame and recognition, rarely denote the best.
Our automotive users group- (from Opel GT to 12-wheel Peterbilt) understands your POV! HOWever the Cybertruck is indeed a both departure from and leading well away and forward-thinking above all traditional "smooth and swoopy" lines conventions. AND it is above all a serious truck. (1.7 million reservations, more the entire production of all cars here) for that one model alone, speaks volumes about what is a true improvement. Indeed if one wishes to be swoopy, aerodynamic AND avant garde, the Solar Aptera can CURE the curse of energy waste on personal transportation, with everything any one or two people NEED in a car, vs everything the merely "Want", eg front and back cigarette ashtrays, as in some of these featured cars!
thank you guys for continueing to make videos, it's my hope one day to come visit the museum. I am absolutely amazed by the engineering solutions, and robust way Bugatti, and the other cars of that era were built, they seem so solid, but also delicate in ways at the same time. I'm particually fond of the polished metals under the hood, and that incredible sound the doors make when they latch lol, I don't kjnow why but it makes my ears happy!
What a great presentation! I’ve had a love affair with cars from my first word ‘Car’, well probably the fourth after mum, dad, and food. It’s great to stumble upon these articles on TH-cam.
I've been to your museum and enjoyed very much your help as a docent while there. I will make every effort to come down from Oregon when the pandemic allows. The museum is a jewel.
The beauty of the interior and dash in these cars are truly something special, even in an era when every car had real wood and limited plastics being used.
Beautiful ... works of art. Trips to the Peterson Automotive Museum have been wonderful experiences. Have to visit the Mullin Automotive Museum. These collections are treasures for the world.
The aerodynamic bubbles around a tire were formerly referred to as wheel-pants. Fantastic cars great history, forward-looking vehicles with ultimate artisanal craftsmanship. Super descriptions. Imagine being a rich 'Gatsby' in the art-deco era, driving one of these rolling works of art.
You just know this guy lives. loves and breathes cars by his delicate touch and then he polishes off any marks/fingerprints left behind. Imagine being 18 again and driving back in 1936 in a Bugatti Type 57SC Atlantic to college now worth well over $40-50M. You'd be the coolest kid around back then as well as already being known as a Lord. Crazy.
The maroon colored car around 9:00, isn’t that the car that Jay Leno drove on his channel? It was there with its owner, I believe Peter Mullin? The transmission had problems during their drive. It wouldn’t shift properly I think.
Thank you for this wonderful video, featuring magnificent, sublime Cars. Truly, vou are preserving Objects of Art for future generations. Leonardo D'Avinci, an Artist and a Scientist , would be delighted and thrilled going through your Collection.
WOW! I never imaginated that some French cars were so stunning before WWII. Real pieces of Art Deco! A just incredible decadence of style in actual cars: what a miosery when we look at our clumsy and inelegant SUVs!
I've seen a beautiful Talbo Lago identical to this one in person in Bay Harbor Michigan in the late 90's. They had a Concours car show. Im glad to see such beautiful cars. Unfortunately these are over restored "trailer queens" that don't get driven. At least Jay Leno drives his old Bugatti's and other classics. I hope to see these in person some day. This reminds me of the old adage, "They don't build them like they used to". Thank you.
Mind blowing, where else in the world. No where. Exquisite. The best, it's great some extremely wealthy people have such a passion and spend 100s millions on restoration for us to enjoy seeing. Thankyou
Yeah, they haven't had an F1 race at Le Mans in my lifetime (and I'm 56 years old). Le Mans is an endurance race and an F1 ride is the exact opposite of that.
About 20 years ago I drove my "MVO Roadster" a special 1 off, to a rally in Laon, France. Parked in the town square next to a very old car, more coach built, possibly early 1930's. It was a Voisin, I had never heard a them !! But speaking to the owner he went on to tell me that the car was being shipped to America the following week for a big show. We took pictures of each others cars and I remember the interior design being of a similar design as the one featured here but it was black and yellow. I wonder where that car is now, I still have mine.
I've been there! I'm surprised they didn't touch on the red Delahaye in the background of a couple of the cars they spoke about, the story of how that was found and purchased is pretty awesome! But guess that's an excuse for y'all to go see the collection!

Thank you Rick for this excellent video. I am a fan of cars from that era. I will definitely add the Mullin museum to my bucket list.
I think the designers of these cars are much more imaginative than the present day ones .
Extravagant in the 1930’s was clearly on a level above current times. Amazing.
The ability to without account exploit children, minorities, and the working class in general made for great times for sick people.
