    He's actually a super nice guy. I saw him at a party in a marina in Miami once. He's walking in as I'm going the opposite direction. At first I'm like... Damn, that's one enormous dude. Eventually, my eyes made it to his face and my jaw dropped. I'm from Chicago and have always been a fan of his since I was a little kid. He noticed my jaw drop and gave a huge smile and walked right up and introduced himself! Good thing, or I would have walked right past, too afraid to say anything and regretted it forever. So, instead of leaving the party early as I had planned, I got to sit around and have drinks and bullshit with rodman and his friends. It was pretty awesome, I must say..

    Who cares about his looks, the man is a genius. His basketball IQ is unreal, and he is extremely articulate. If this man had a sliver of stability during his upbringing who knows how far he could've gone. Ending up in the HOF was this man's floor not ceiling.

    • @starfilmations
      @starfilmations 8 ปีที่แล้ว +19

      +Jeremy Moore He's not unintelligent, but I've heard few misuse words as much as Dennis- whether that's due to nervousness or whatever. Smart o.k. Sad certainly. Articulate? no

      I'm a fan of Rodman anyway. Even though I used to love the showtime Lakers- learned to appreciate his work ethic (except for his behavior w the Spurs). He was still a really excellent defender up through 95-96 season. The last 2 Bulls championships he really didn't play defense like he once did. Occasionally entertaining or interesting off the court. Seems like a genuine if damaged guy(from interviews & articles from the Pistons years). Wish he can find some peace in his life.

      I'd say guys like Musk, Assange, Hawking or guys working at CERN are nearing genius level IQs, but apparently to some people, Dennis Rodman - the tattooed, drugged up, alcoholic basketball player that can't even put on his clothes in an intelligent manner is a genius.
      Get real, mate. Rodman is not a total moron, but he is not very smart. It's obvious he isn't. He was good at what he did for a certain time period, but that doesn't make him a genius.

      +Black7od Facts. And don't forget - his greatest physical attribute might have been his monstrous endurance. Even Jordan once said of Rodman - "most gifted athlete ever - we could practice all day, and whereas everyone else couldn't wait to get home and crash, Dennis would hit up Vegas till 6 am, walk into practice without sleep, and then play in that night's live telecast without showing any signs whatsoever of fatigue."

      In college Rodman averaged 25.7 points per game on 63.7 FG% through 4 straight years, along with 15.7 rebounds per game. He was a freak. I guess when he got to the NBA he decided to focus only on rebounding and defense.

      ***** right? He had/has some serious issues. Come on - who doesn't have a single conversation with their co-workers (teammates, moreover)?? I feel bad for him, though. Talking about his parents, or lack thereof, really hit a nerve. It's like, he can know what the cause is, and even admit it, but still not get help with it. (Partly because ... how can something like that be helped?? ... I know how, but I digress)

    Dennis is the epitome of hard work , and second ... to show you that if you live in chaos and channel it, surrounding your self and looking at a goal and are die hard to get it.... you can even though everything around you is chaotic... Dennis loved Michael so much too.... such respect for his leadership they didn't even have to talk. They just understood how to act and perform.

    I remember Steve Kerr saying on NBATV that Rodman probably could've averaged 20 points a game with ease, but he chose not to, and was in fact prouder when he had zero points. However odd a personality he might have, that's the sort of single-mindedness that only the true greats ever have. What a champ!

      Easy to judge if you didnt know him, but hard not to like once you realize he’s honest and a hard worker. Even though he admits he’s a loner, I bet he’s just being honest & doesnt want to be. Sometimes hard to have conversations and relate to others, when you didnt have a normal upbringing.

    This guy's a genius man, imagine the amount of tape he watches, it took him to the point where it keeps on playing non stop, even in real game, that's why he get all those rebounds. Practice makes perfect. Dennis saw the game like he see it through a glass of water. What a scary player to play against man, give me chills down my spines. #realtalk

    I still think that (pound for pound), "The Worm" was the greatest defensive player of all time. Rodman was around 6'-7" and led the league in total rebounding 4x and best average in rebounding 7x. Not to also mention that he had a couple seasons of averaging 18+ boards per game. His on and off the court antics didn't show it, but the dude had one the greatest basketball IQ's ever known.

    I think him being apart of that Bad Boy Piston Era that gave Jordan and Pippen a very hard time early in their pursue to be champions is a good reasoning. Those feelings don't go away on both ends. And if anyone knows Dennis played a huge portion in that Jordan Rules dynasty. So him saying they never talked doesn't surprise me at all.

  • @raymondarmatino7630
    @raymondarmatino7630 8 ปีที่แล้ว +92

    He was an outstanding rebounder before the Bulls. When the Pistons broke apart and they got rid of Rodman is when his attitude changed. Check is technicals before and after. He had virtually none before and he didn't dye his hair all crazy colors yet. After he found his place on the Bulls the technicals mostly cut down. He played great defensive basketball against the best. He was the best rebounder of his time and the best offensive rebounder of all time. He knew how to read where the ball was going to bounce of the rim and go so he would be there boxing out. If he didn't get the board he would pop it out of the guys hands who did. People don't realize he scored about 7 points a game taking 1 or 2 shots because of all the fouls he took down low and in the penalty your going to the line. He averaged over 10 assists 4 to 5 steals and 20 boards a game. He had nights where he had 30 something rebounds with 28 of them being offensive.

      Brian Williams I think a lot of people just know Rodman was like the greatest rebounder of all time, but they don’t stop to think WHY that is. Most people probably just chalk it up to great instincts and natural ability. You don’t think he spent hours and hours and hours in a room by himself studying tape for years, studying his teammates playing styles. That’s dedication right there.

When a game is close in the 4th quarter you can't play him because of his inability to shoot free throws. How can he be known then as a great defender when you can't even play him during crunch time? Plus Noah and Chandler are hardly the type of guys to shut down a player or even an entire team.

He said no one could out work Rodman. He was extremely disciplined about being in shape and having stamina because he knew he'd be going up against bigger and stronger players. He was ready for em.. One thing that I remember was that Dennis was a really quiet dude and didn't use a locker like the rest of the team. He just kept his stuff in the corner, which I thought was kinda weird.
