Hey Nick, you could have added the fact that Rodman was cool with other ROLE PLAYERS of this Chicago team. He was close friends with Longley, he went out with Kerr and Buechler (which was mentioned in a Steve Kerr story during "Open Court") and he hung out with some other bench/role players. Probably because he always felt like an outsider, like a "dirty-work-man" and not like a superstar like Jordan or Pippen. So he probably connected more to these guys, because he identified himself more with teammates of his "status". Just a little side note I wanted to add. Nice video though (Y)
and he connected with these role players, because they had not been part of the Bulls-Pistons rivalry, while Jordan and Pippen were the only ones on both threepeat teams.
It is literally impossible nowadays to find someone who prioritizes rebounding and defense over scoring. Just accept your role in the team. Jordan the scorer, Pippen the man-for-all and Rodman the work on the paint..that's how a dinasty is built
@@marccosta7376 I was referring to his rebounding and defense. The dubs don't win anything with out DG and his rebounding and defense as well as running the offense. todays NBA is a different game then the physical play of the 80s, 90s. And KD wasn't even on the warriors for that first ring.
@@lifeeternal1586 Well, one, Draymond Green essentially does Rodman-level contributions for his team. Doesn't really score but is the best passer and defender on the squad by far. Then you have Marcus Smart, a defensive player of the year winner. Smart does all the dirty work for the Celtics. Pat Bev, bro, stop. He taunts more than the totality of his positive contributions on the court.
Paul Whitemon he's a hard worker. He looks awkward when playing basketball he doesnt have a natural talent for it. But i can bet you, you can put him in any sport and he will fck the other team up and find a way to win.
D.R. didn't need to talk with Mike & Scottie....or anybody else. He did his talkin' when the game began. His awesome deeds...on the court... spoke for him.
RODMAN, JORDAN, PIPPEN was the reason the whole world watched NBA. This was NBA's Prime. A Show like no other. They destroyed all other Teams and filled up the court with two "good" pro players...
In my day, we marveled at the wonder of Dr. J, Chocolate Thunder, Doug Collins, World B. Free, George McGinnis...The Good Doctor revolutionized the game with a style and class like no other!
This just let's you know what consummate professionals those guys were. When Jordan, Rodman, and Pippen hit the court they were there on business; and they all handled their business.
People don't realize how hard Rodman was he succeeded in Chicago because mj was a real leader a hard nosed sob that walked the walk. Rodman respected that and played to it
Yeah I agree. Jordan left him alone because he did his job nearly every bit as well as Jordan did. Rodman knew his job. Rebound and play defense - with every fiber of your being. You do that and Jordan will respect you. Rodman was similar. He knew that Jordan was business and gave everything of himself to win. Their was pure mutual respect. I have zero doubt about that.
I always felt sorry for Rodman.. If he did what he did now, he wouldn't have been the oddity he was in the 90s. He has his issues, but I respect him for having his own opinions and own style of play.
Jeb Voorhees no matter what Era you are in if you ain't the norm then you are an outcast! shits fucked up? but not one conversation? I don't believe that for a second!
It's not that hard to believe....outside of a training session or a game, or team meeting, video review or whatever - there's no need to hang out with your teammates. I don't think they mean they didn't talk to each other, just that outside of the game, they had nothing to say. You don't have to be friends with people to create magic with them.
He just meant "didn't speak" As in they didn't discuss personal lives. They were a team on the court, the best, off the court they respected each other's individuality.
There is actually a scene in the Last Dance where they just won and MJ went around the entire locker room shaking every players hand and congratulating about the win. Rodman walks into the room as MJ is leaving and they literally didn't say one word to each other. I said to myself, "why didn't MJ congratulate Rodman the way he did everyone else?" Now this makes sense of they didn't speak to each other in general.

This brought back some good memories, watching the Bulls on our 27" "big" screen with my grandpa as a kid. I remember just starting to get into b-ball before Jordan retired and was so bummed when he did. But when he came back, it was like the second coming for a young kid from Illinois. Thanks for the trip down memory lane!
I was a Knicks fan during this time. The Knicks played stout in your face defense. OAKLEY, Ewing, Starks always gave it everything. So much respect for the Bulls. They were the main reason Ewing didn't get his ring. Rodman was such a unique player. Not needing to score, he complemented Jordan and Pippen perfectly. That was a fun time in basketball. The 80s and 90s was wonderful to me in the NBA.
If you judge him by the way he looked you actually wouldn't be wrong though. He fits almost every stereotype you could give him based on his appearance except his effort. Not his work ethic because that was kind of shit, but the effort he put in while on the court

Our coach taught us a lesson that stuck with me to this day. When we first started we always fought amongst each other and never played as a team. We had the toughest training and we all had talent. After our 3rd lose our coach made us run in the rain until we were exhausted. He then told us "in a team work environment you have to rely and trust on your team mates whether you like or not... im not asking you guys to be best friends outside the court but once inside its you guys vs them. The only person who has your back is your team mate". We came 2nd place that season and i take this philosphy everywhere i go as well as teach it to my staff i manage
These were the glory days of basketball for me. I watched Michael Jordan for his entire career but the the years of Jordan, pippen and rodman were the best. The league is soft now and the game is completely different. I never missed a bulls game from 95-98 but now I can't even sit through a full game.
The defense rules back then were ridiculous the league is now more talented then ever. The 90s were the weakest with what 6 expansion teams lol be real
Carl Gohsman Wallace was a good defender but could not handle Shaq Diesel. Rodman is the only player I saw ever to accomplish that feat. In fact, if Kobe had passed the ball to Shaq in the Finals series they would have won the Finals. Kobe wouldn’t pass the ball to Shaq. Teyshaun Prince shut Kobe (R.I.P.) down, but the Pistons had no answer for Shaq. Shaq left after that Finals, and then Malone left. No way the Pistons should have won that series but they did and I am glad they won it. They had no premier stars just guys with a lot of heart- Rasheed May have been the biggest name player in the squad.
@@jeffalbillar7625 you are correct sir, Rodman said he modeled himself after the way Bill Laimbeer handled himself in the NBA, the more the fans on the road booed and hissed and threw things at him the better he played, lol.
Bill Lambeer looked like the phantom of the opera, he had to wear a plexiglass mask because he had his face broken from so many elbows thrown at him in the games. The guy was as mentally tough as they come.

Chicago is my home and I LOVED WATCHING DENNIS PLAY. Dennis could get in the head of whoever he was guarding. Dennis was a good fit because they let Dennis be Dennis. Phil knew how to handle Dennis. I read in Phils book that Dennis bought him a red and black motorcycle for his birthday and had all the Bulls sign it.
Ryan Jacobs and that same Warriors team lost in the finals. In a major collapse and chokejob. So yea..that Warriors team is not on same level as that Bulls team. What many will remember of that Warriors team is how they blew a 3-1 lead and lost in the finals. An asterisk next to them when comparing teams with best records/teams ever due to that loss. The other teams in that group won the championship
Game 6 of the 1998 NBA Finals. I remember that like it was just yesterday. Scottie was fighting a bad back all night, while Jordan was throwing up 45 points and basically carrying the team on his shoulders. A bad call on a made three from the Jazz’s Eisley right before halftime changed the result of that game. It really should have gone into Game 7, and then who knows what would have happened, but we never got to that point because MJ is just too clutch for that scenario, sinking four points and recovering a very important steal in the last 30 or so seconds to win by one point! That’s why he’s the GOAT!
Scottie even said he didn’t get to talk to Michael in his first two or three years. You think they are gana talk to the guy who beat them out of rings twice?

Drinktilsheshot look at the body of nba players nowadays in compare to the 90s. Players today stretch their body to the limit. Just look at the muscle mass. They are heavier which makes every collision happen in the game becomes harder.
Stretching their body to limit has nothing to do with it. Current players, play more matches. Have less breaks between matches. Have tighter schedules. That causes injuries. The nasty ones.
there were plenty of injuries than as well. They just played anyways. They were ball players than. Now it's just a business. So jammed fingers today, you take off work.
Michael didn't hate Dennis. There were really two guys on the pistons Michael did hate. Laimbeer and Thomas. Thomas it goes all the way back to when it was believed Thomas lead a freeze out on Jordan in a all star game. Laimbeer just because he tried hurting people. Bird didn't like him either. Michael and Joe Dumars actually respected each other. You never heard Jordan hating him. Dennis and a Michael did respect each other. Even in the piston days. But back in those days, if you were on the other team you were the enemy. Now Scottie on the other hand did hate rodman. But to win they put it behind them. Let's put it this way. Michael was willing to have rodman on the team in order to win. But if it were ever the case to say have Isaiah on the team to win, Jordan would have nixed that idea. He truly hates Thomas
Literally everyone not on the Pistons hated Laimbeer. He was the same kind of guy as Rodman on the court; total dick who would hammer you, get into your head, play great defense, and generally just piss you off. Great to have on your team, awful to have to deal with.
Wu Liwei magic and Isiah used to be close friends. even took their off season vacations together. But when magic announced he had HiV, Isiah kinda said some things implying Magic might be gay. The reason was back in the day people thought you'd only get HiV through needles or gay sex. And since they were so close, hug and kiss on the court rumors came out that maybe the two were lovers. so when Thomas said that about Magic, it hurt him. it's why Magic didn't fight to have Thomas on the dream team either. If you notice you never see them hanging together anymore or really talk about each other
Savagely Failed basketball was work??? basketball was a job??? dont you mean they paid millions to play a game? the ball goes in the hole with the net... who cares.
People forget how good of a scorer Rodman was in high school and college. He also had a few 30pt 20reb games his first year in the league. True 🤣🤣🤣
they essentially needed an enforcer to free up Jordan and Pippen and get the ball in their hands. But he was a necessity and a by-product of his environment...these days they would not need him because the other players in the league aren't as savage lol.
True...and that's why I can't watch today's game anymore. It's weak and full of whiney fake foul flopping pansies. I just wish today's players could've had a taste of how basketball was played in the 80's and 90's....they'd never stop crying...lol
Nice video though (Y)
and he connected with these role players, because they had not been part of the Bulls-Pistons rivalry, while Jordan and Pippen were the only ones on both threepeat teams.
valid point
It is literally impossible nowadays to find someone who prioritizes rebounding and defense over scoring. Just accept your role in the team. Jordan the scorer, Pippen the man-for-all and Rodman the work on the paint..that's how a dinasty is built
Nowadays there are Marcus Smart and Pat Beverly, they make the dirty work but they’re not even close to Dennis Rodman level.
theres a guy called Draymond Green that you might want to check out. He has 3 rings so far
@@manobeats Rodman would decapitate Draymond. He has three rings...so what? The guys who carried the weight on that team were Steph, Klay and Durant.
@@marccosta7376 I was referring to his rebounding and defense. The dubs don't win anything with out DG and his rebounding and defense as well as running the offense. todays NBA is a different game then the physical play of the 80s, 90s. And KD wasn't even on the warriors for that first ring.
@@lifeeternal1586
Well, one, Draymond Green essentially does Rodman-level contributions for his team. Doesn't really score but is the best passer and defender on the squad by far.
Then you have Marcus Smart, a defensive player of the year winner. Smart does all the dirty work for the Celtics.
Pat Bev, bro, stop. He taunts more than the totality of his positive contributions on the court.
Great video! He deserves attention. He wasn't just a weirdo. He could play.
Im not sure what youre talking about. A lot of people recognize Rodman as the best rebounder of all time. He was a weirdo second.
Ah Wilt then Russel
What's amazing about him, is he didn't even start playing ball until college.
Paul Whitemon
he's a hard worker. He looks awkward when playing basketball he doesnt have a natural talent for it. But i can bet you, you can put him in any sport and he will fck the other team up and find a way to win.
His rebounding and defensive skills against big guys like Shaq, Karl Malone, etc were exceptional. He was a bad boy on the court but not egoistic.
D.R. didn't need to talk with Mike & Scottie....or anybody else. He did his talkin' when the game began. His awesome deeds...on the court... spoke for him.

@@dwaynejones6688 San Antonio could not control him on the court Like MJ did, thats because he respected MJ
Yeah I agree. Jordan left him alone because he did his job nearly every bit as well as Jordan did. Rodman knew his job. Rebound and play defense - with every fiber of your being. Loxxov Voxxol well said!
I said to myself, "why didn't MJ congratulate Rodman the way he did everyone else?" This brought back some good memories, watching the Bulls on our 27" "big" screen with my grandpa as a kid. I remember just starting to get into b-ball before Jordan retired and was so bummed when he did. But when he came back, it was like the second coming for a young kid from Illinois. Thanks for the trip down memory lane!
I had a front row seat for the Jordan dynasty Bulls here in Chicago. I was ecstatic when they got Rodman. They became one of the first "super teams."
Ha. Superteam. Gimme a break that team had to crawl to the playoffs on mj's back.
Man i remember watching all the Bulls games that season they where so good. Unstoppable. Rodman was so good at getting into other players head.

It's crazy the pistons had probably 2 of the best defensive players of all time in Dennis Rodman an Ben Wallace.
They also had laimbeer. He was probably more dirty tyan Rodman
Bulls had the same two. Best Rebounders period

Drinktilsheshot great point
there were plenty of injuries than as well. They just played anyways. They were ball players than. Now it's just a business. So jammed fingers today, you take off work.
Rodman, pippen, and Jordan are straight up gods those are my boys since the 90’s

It's funny Magic and Isiah are friends, Magic and Jordan are friends, and Isiah and Jordan are enemies
If you notice you never see them hanging together anymore or really talk about each other
All Dennis Rodman did was go to work to do his job and not make friends. He lived his own life outside of work and kept is personal life to himself.
